Bonus Round 4: Official Art

Bonus Round 4: Official Art

This round is CLOSED. Late fills can be posted, but they won't receive points.

Memorable canon moments, bizarre omakes, tantalizing magazine spreads—this is the round to explore them all. Bring out your screencaps, promotional art, and manga pages, and let's talk about what really happened.
Please read the rules carefully before posting!

RULES
  • Submit prompts in the form of a canon screencap from one of our nominated fandoms along with a ship. Screencaps can be from an anime or manga, as well as any other kind of offshoot media, e.g. official art, drama CD covers, light novel illustrations, magazine covers, and/or caps from games. Doujinshi, fan-made games or any other fan-created work should not be prompted, even if you receive permission. Only prompt screencaps that are taken from a piece of canon media.
  • Keep your prompt concise. Don't prompt a whole manga chapter, for example.
  • Upload the cap somewhere (imgur works well) and post here with the images themselves or a link to them.
  • Your prompt MUST include some kind of relationship. Platonic relationships are indicated by an "&" between the names (e.g., Riko & Momoi). Non-platonic relationships use "/" (e.g., Riko/Momoi). Please don't say "Any pairing," either!
  • Fill prompts by leaving a responding comment to the prompt with your newly-created work inspired by the cap.
  • Fills can be directly connected to the cap, e.g. panel redraws or writing fic that fleshes out the moment that was capped or that fleshes out what happened directly before/after, but fills can also be more indirectly linked. As long as the work is somehow inspired by the cap, it counts.
  • Remember to follow the general bonus round rules, outlined here.

This went so badly off the rails and I don't even care, I don't care if Raz filled it too, I just. Had to write this weird Makishima-Imaizumi-Kinjou mess. You're welcome, I think.

"Oh! Makishima-san," Imaizumi says, drawing up short upon stepping into the room.

Makishima looks at him for a long moment, brows drawing in and forehead creasing. He stretches, a slow motion that lifts his arms above his head, before there comes an audible pop and an unpleasant twist to Makishima's features. The look is gone a minute later, quick as it came. "...Did you need something."

"I was... Looking for Kinjou-san," Imaizumi says. "I had meant to..."

His hands flex at his sides, and he trails off before finishing the thought.

"I saw him talking to Teshima," Makishima says, with a shrug, and another subtle cringe. "That was half an hour ago, and he hasn't been back."

"Oh," Imaizumi says. His hands twist again and he feels foolish, for the expectations he knows he has, and which he has nevertheless taken deliberate care not to voice. "I won't bother him, then."

Makishima is silent, looking at him with lips pinched in tight. The weight of his gaze feels too heavy, all the more so when Imaizumi cannot deduce what it is Makishima sees. But then he turns, gesturing to the door.

"I was going to take a bath. It's a Hail Mary, but maybe the hot water will do something for the aches in my muscles. It feels like they're being sliced through straight to the bone. You haven't washed up, have you?"

"Ah, no," Imaizumi says. "But if it's soreness that's troubling you, I do know a bit about massage. I could help you with that."

Makishima's mouth twists, and Imaizumi thinks he's going to be refused. Which is too bad for Makishima; he does know a thing or two about working tension out of over-taxed muscles, after biking for as long as he has. He'd meant to offer a hand to Kinjou, if he was still sore after the day's riding, but—

Makishima laughs. It's a sharp sound, abrupt enough to pull Imaizumi's gaze in from where it had wandered, followed by the slow shaking of Makishima's head.

"Why not," Makishima says. "You can't be any worse at it than Teshima was, the first time he tried."

Imaizumi's lips pull, and he doesn't bother to rein in the scoffing smile. He should have known — Teshima always does need a great deal of practice to get some things right. Imaizumi doesn't often have that problem.

"Go ahead and sit down," he suggests, warming to his own proposition. "This shouldn't take long."

There are a few serviceable chairs in the room, but there's also a low couch off to one side, positioned in front of the television none of them have taken any time out to watch. It's the couch Makishima walks over toward, making himself comfortable with long limbs spread out and forearms folded to tuck underneath his chin.

Imaizumi hesitates a moment, before lifting his knee to plant against the couch cushion, leaning over Makishima with his other leg still braced against the floor. His hands hover over Makishima's shoulderblades, the sharpness of his bones clear even though the thin material of his sleep shirt. Imaizumi slides his hands up to the back of Makishima's neck, curls them around his shoulders. He lets his thumbs dig into the knots of muscle he can feel underneath his fingers.

Makishima groans, a soft, drawn-out sound, and Imaizumi can feel heat in his cheeks. He ignores it. There's work underneath his hands, simple work, lines of tension that he knows how to ease through nothing more complicated than the press of his fingers. The thin shirt isn't much of a detriment to that, but it's enough.

"You should take this off," he says, even with fingers still kneading. "Where were your muscles acting up the most?"

"Ah," Makishima breathes, and doesn't immediately answer further. "It feels too good. I don't want to get up."

Imaizumi's hands follow down the line of Makishima's spine, individual vertebrae tangible beneath his fingertips, and he doesn't argue. He presses in hard at the small of Makishima's back, and pushes his shirt out of the way on the way back up.

"Was it only your back?" he asks, staring down at the pale expanse of it, at the sharp lines of Makishima's form and at the contrast of his own tanned fingers splayed out against it. He stares also at the twin moles, perched underneath the line of Makishima's left shoulder blade.

"Mm," Makishima murmurs. "Yeah."

Imaizumi isn't sure it's really an answer to his question. He isn't sure he cares — Makishima seems far more comfortable than before, and he's done as he said. His mouth curves, just slightly, into a smile of satisfaction.

"You're pretty good at that," Makishima adds after a minute, voice distant and uncharacteristically dreamy. "I could fall asleep like this."

"That probably wouldn't be for the best, Makishima-san," Imaizumi says. He's blushing again, at the praise. He pretends he isn't. "This isn't a very good place for you to do that."

"I'll move," Makishima says, dismissive. "When you're done."

Imaizumi snorts, and doesn't argue, digging his fingers instead into the last little knots of tension lingering under Makishima's skin.

"Kinjou missed out," Makishima says, with a small, scoffing laugh. "Thanks, for this."

This time, Imaizumi doesn't answer because he swears he's swallowed his tongue in surprise, but he thinks... He thinks Makishima sounds sincere. And that smile of pride in work well done rises again to his lips, before he finds words enough to murmur back, "You're welcome, I was happy to help."
