Bonus Round 4: Official Art
Bonus Round 4: Official Art
This round is CLOSED. Late fills can be posted, but they won't receive points.
Memorable canon moments, bizarre omakes, tantalizing magazine spreads—this is the round to explore them all. Bring out your screencaps, promotional art, and manga pages, and let's talk about what really happened.
Please read the rules carefully before posting!
RULES
- Submit prompts in the form of a canon screencap from one of our nominated fandoms along with a ship. Screencaps can be from an anime or manga, as well as any other kind of offshoot media, e.g. official art, drama CD covers, light novel illustrations, magazine covers, and/or caps from games. Doujinshi, fan-made games or any other fan-created work should not be prompted, even if you receive permission. Only prompt screencaps that are taken from a piece of canon media.
- Keep your prompt concise. Don't prompt a whole manga chapter, for example.
- Upload the cap somewhere (imgur works well) and post here with the images themselves or a link to them.
- Your prompt MUST include some kind of relationship. Platonic relationships are indicated by an "&" between the names (e.g., Riko & Momoi). Non-platonic relationships use "/" (e.g., Riko/Momoi). Please don't say "Any pairing," either!
- Fill prompts by leaving a responding comment to the prompt with your newly-created work inspired by the cap.
- Fills can be directly connected to the cap, e.g. panel redraws or writing fic that fleshes out the moment that was capped or that fleshes out what happened directly before/after, but fills can also be more indirectly linked. As long as the work is somehow inspired by the cap, it counts.
- Remember to follow the general bonus round rules, outlined here.

FILL: TEAM FUKUTOMI JUICHI/KINJOU SHINGO, T
Word Count: 502
It's the first time Kinjou has left the country.
He's flown before, shorter distances across Japan for school trips and once with his family, but this is different. This is the first time he's traveled as far as this, with no one's company but his own to pass the time and for hours enough that even though he's sure he won't, he ends up sleeping on the plane.
He wakes just in time for the descent, to the sight of sunlight streaming in through the plane's small windows and glinting off the undersides of the clouds they're sailing through. Then comes the bustle of disembarkment and the slow process through the gate, where Kinjou is crowded in by so many bodies and voices and conflicting agendas. But he catches sight of the sign for baggage claim a moment later and turns down the indicated escalator and even after a year, the sight of Makishima is unmistakable.
"Kinjou!" Makishima calls, hands flying up and feet carrying him forward, three quick steps before sense catches up to him and he draws to a halt.
Kinjou is already walking to meet him, one hand coming up as if to wave. Makishima's momentum carries him that last tiny bit forward, and he slaps Kinjou's hand with his outstretched palm. The sound of the impact is sharp against Kinjou's ear before he even feels the force of it traveling down his arm. Makishima drops his hands back to his sides and offers a crooked, sheepish smile.
"Sorry," he says. But then his mouth tugs, trying to pull up into something more eager, hands flexing and squeezing down by his sides. "That wasn't what I meant to do."
Kinjou is aware of the bodies moving all around him, milling about the baggage carousels and looking at signs and coming together in a myriad of reunions not so unlike the one he's enacting himself. Makishima's smile twists self-deprecatingly, but his eyes are bright even while darting to either side to check whether anyone has started to stare.
Kinjou is aware of the crowds and the bustle, just as he's aware of how taut Makishima is drawn, held tense like a bowstring with excitement and nervousness. He spreads his arms anyway, just enough to be an invitation, so slightly that it's barely more than a shrug. Makishima throws his arms around Kinjou's shoulders when he sees it and pulls himself in against Kinjou's chest.
"I'm glad to see you," he says against Kinjou's bicep. "I'm glad you could come."
Kinjou squeezes him back, arms sliding around Makishima's waist and fingertips gliding up the length of his back until one of Kinjou's hands rests light against the ridge of Makishima's shoulderblade. Makishima laughs when he's squeezed, and grips Kinjou ferociously tighter in return.
"I'm glad to be here," Kinjou says, voice coming out soft and low. "It's been too long."
"Yeah," Makishima says, as people pass by all around them, as time goes on without him letting go. "Yeah, it has."
Re: FILL: TEAM FUKUTOMI JUICHI/KINJOU SHINGO, T
i have such a soft spot for anything involving airports, for perhaps obvious reasons. the airport-y descriptions made me feel so warm and fuzzy and man taking a long, international flight /by yourself/ for the first time and being that young is definitely A Big Deal, i think even someone as composed as Kinjou usually is would definitely feel slightly nervous about it :')
i love seeing Maki being overtly excited??? i love it so much. and that he apologizes for it.
i don't know if this is romo or if it's not, i like the ambiguity that's there even though they're so clearly clearly /close/ at least, but anyway i bet Kinjou just sent his flight details to Maki knowing that of course he would be there to pick him up even if he didn't say anything back.
