Bonus Round 4: Official Art
Bonus Round 4: Official Art
This round is CLOSED. Late fills can be posted, but they won't receive points.
Memorable canon moments, bizarre omakes, tantalizing magazine spreads—this is the round to explore them all. Bring out your screencaps, promotional art, and manga pages, and let's talk about what really happened.
Please read the rules carefully before posting!
RULES
- Submit prompts in the form of a canon screencap from one of our nominated fandoms along with a ship. Screencaps can be from an anime or manga, as well as any other kind of offshoot media, e.g. official art, drama CD covers, light novel illustrations, magazine covers, and/or caps from games. Doujinshi, fan-made games or any other fan-created work should not be prompted, even if you receive permission. Only prompt screencaps that are taken from a piece of canon media.
- Keep your prompt concise. Don't prompt a whole manga chapter, for example.
- Upload the cap somewhere (imgur works well) and post here with the images themselves or a link to them.
- Your prompt MUST include some kind of relationship. Platonic relationships are indicated by an "&" between the names (e.g., Riko & Momoi). Non-platonic relationships use "/" (e.g., Riko/Momoi). Please don't say "Any pairing," either!
- Fill prompts by leaving a responding comment to the prompt with your newly-created work inspired by the cap.
- Fills can be directly connected to the cap, e.g. panel redraws or writing fic that fleshes out the moment that was capped or that fleshes out what happened directly before/after, but fills can also be more indirectly linked. As long as the work is somehow inspired by the cap, it counts.
- Remember to follow the general bonus round rules, outlined here.

FILL: TEAM IWAIZUMI HAJIME/OIKAWA TOORU, G
Words: 678
notes: established manatou
"You're cool, Toudou-san."
"Huh?" Toudou looks up from his work, surprised at the sudden compliment. Not that it isn't true, or flattering to hear, but he doesn't know why Manami is saying the words so suddenly.
Toudou recovers from the initial surprise, and waves his hand in front of his face as if he's trying to dismiss the warmth of his cheeks that always, for some reason, seems to accompany Manami complimenting him, even when he knows in the back of his mind that Manami is trying to trick him into giving him money or breaks or to be let off easy when he's in trouble. "Well, of course I am! That much is obvious. Why are you saying it so suddenly, though?"
Manami shurgs. There's a smile on his lips, but not a genuine one. It's one that Toudou's learned to recognize as fake and strained these past few months. He doesn't like that smile. Not at all. "I don't know. I just... wanted to say it, I guess."
He frowns, wondering if there's more to it than that, if Manami is leaving something out. "Okay. Thanks, then. You're not so bad either, Manami. Not at my level yet, of course, but pretty close."
Manami laughs, and when he quiets down after a moment, Toudou thinks this is the end of this strange conversation. But then, he murmurs quietly, "It won't be the same without you."
"What?"
"You're incredible, Toudou-san. You're good at climbing and smart and popular, and you're really kind too." Then, barely a whisper, "I could never live up to that. You're amazing."
He takes a breath, feels the warmth of his cheeks again and the pounding of his heart. Still, he laughs, leaning closer to Manami and tapping his hand with his pen to draw his attention back to him instead of looking at his lap.
"Well, I do set a pretty high standard, don't I? I am your senpai, after all." He smiles, though, reaches over and pats Manami's shoulder. "You'll be fine, Sangaku. I wouldn't trust anyone but you to take up the role of Hakogaku's ace climber."
"Really?"
"Do I look like I'm lying?"
Manami smiles, leaning closer to him. "No, you don't."
"So it's the truth, then." Toudou nudges his shoulder. "Now quit worrying about that, okay?"
He nods, seeming a lot calmer than before, but still murmurs, "I'll miss you, Toudou-san."
Ah, so it's about this too, the sudden conversation isn't just Manami fearing what's to come next year and filling the shoes the third years leave.
Suddenly it all makes sense. With his own graduation drawing closer with each passing day, there won't be much opportunity for moments like this anymore--simple ones where they can do homework together, or ride together, or just talk.
Sometimes, he forgets that it's something that will happen sooner rather than later, doesn't like to think about that.
Of course he'll miss Manami too. There's no question about that. He likes Manami. A lot. They've been through that already, with awkwardly stumbled through confessions under the night sky, with kisses and holding hands and spending more time together ever since then. But this doesn't mean that everything is over--graduation is not an end.
"I'll miss you too," Toudou says, because of course he will. There's no way he won't. "But just because I graduate doesn't mean I'm going to disappear. I'm not going anywhere... not really, anyway, so don't think this changes anything!"
It's silent for a moment, but then Manami laughs. Toudou recognizes the smile on his lips, realizes it's a real one. "Right. Thanks, Toudou-san."
"Don't worry about any of that. Everything will be fine, of course!"
"Okay, I believe you."
Toudou laughs. "A wise decision. I'm not wrong very often."
Manami laughs too, and Toudou is happy to see the worry and uncertainty gone from his face.
He doesn't pull away when Manami takes his hand, their fingers curling together, and smiles as the quiet overcomes them and he looks back at the homework laid out before him.
