Bonus Round 3: Gift Tags

Bonus Round 3: Gift Tags

Feeling generous? In this round, you get to give creative gifts as prompts.

This round is CLOSED as of 7PM on July 7 EDT. Late fills may be posted, but they will not receive points.

RULES
  • Submit prompts as a gift tag in the format below. You can specify the size and a characteristic of the gift, who the sender is, who the recipient is, and a one or two sentence note from the sender to the recipient. Descriptions of the package and the included note don’t have to be explicit, see below.
    • Package: medium sized cube, rattles
      From: Kageyama Tobio
      To: Hinata Shouyou
Note: These will help you get better.
    • Envelope: manila, 12''x17'', very thick and heavy
      From: Tezuka Kunimitsu
      To: Kinjou Shingo
Note: Enclosed - Play without regrets!
  • Your prompt MUST include a relationship. Platonic relationships are indicated by an "&" between the names (e.g., Riko & Momoi). Non-platonic relationships use "/" (e.g., Riko/Momoi). Please don't say "Any pairing," either.
  • Fill prompts by leaving a responding comment to the prompt with your newly-created work. Fillers can get creative with how to interpret the prompt: your fill can be about the character receiving the gift, one or both characters using the gift, what prompted the sender to send the gift—the physical gift itself can even be excluded from your fill. What’s important is that the gift tag is clearly the inspiration for your fill.
  • Remember to follow the general bonus round rules, outlined here.

Bonus round shenanigans all happen in the comments below. Brand-new works only, please.

Required Work Minimums:

  • Place the prompt's relationship in the first bolded line of the comment. Including the canon isn't required, but it's nice.

Posts not using this format will be understood to be unofficial discussion posts, regardless of what they contain. They, like all comments in this community, are subject to the code of conduct.

SCORING
These numbers apply to your team as a whole, not each individual teammate. Make as many prompts/fills as you want!

For prompts: 5 points each (maximum of 50 prompt points per team per round)

For fills:

First 3 fills by any member of your team: 20 points each
Fills 4-10: 10 points each
Fills 11-20: 5 points each
Fills 21+: 2 points each

All scored content must be created new for this round.

Etc.
If you're hunting through the prompts looking for what to fill, a good trick is to view top-level comments only.

no tags (Kagami/Kuroko)
word count: 545

Kagami leaves the paper sitting on the coffee table for days.

He doesn't talk about it, doesn't even look at it, like he can will it completely out of existence if he ignores it hard enough. Kuroko knows better than to bring it up. He tries not to look at it either; he's already read it once, he knows what's printed on it. He knows what it's going to mean, for Kagami, for himself. For both of them.

He doesn't know how Kagami does it, how he keeps his eyes from turning in its direction at all. It stands out too much, like it's the very opposite of everything Kuroko is. Perhaps it is, in a way. Home, the note says, in a handwriting that Kuroko doesn't recognise, that Kagami does.

Kuroko thinks about that. Thinks about home, for Kagami, being somewhere so far away that he can't even begin to conceptualise it. A place that he's never seen before. A place that he might never see, he thinks, but he shuts that thought down as quickly as possible, because it fills him with a cold dread that he doesn't know what to do with.

It's wrong, though. Kagami's home is here. Not only this apartment, minimally furnished, with basketballs and work out equipment neatly arranged to take up some of the vast, empty space. Kagami's home is in Tokyo, with the rest of his team and his friends. Kagami's home is in the winding routes they take around the neighbourhood, when they're walking Nigou together. Kagami's home is in the restaurants that know him by name, who love him for how much he eats and how much he enjoys their food.

Kagami's home is with Kuroko, but the words never make it past his throat, because he doesn't know if it's too presumptuous to say. He doesn't know how he would say it at all; stay with me doesn't sound right, when he's the one who has moved into Kagami's apartment, when he's the one sleeping in Kagami's bed, and not the other way around. If Kagami stays, then perhaps his father will stop paying for this apartment entirely; perhaps everything will change regardless, and any sense of home that Kagami might have here will be shaken up.

If Kuroko has learned anything, though, it is to approach problems head on when he realises that they're soon going to grow out of control. Waiting hasn't helped him in the past. It isn't going to help him now.

"About that ticket—" he begins, clearing his throat.

Kagami lifts his head. They're lying together on the couch, Kuroko nestled against Kagami's solid body while Nigou naps in his dog bed.

Taking a breath, Kuroko continues. "Your father wants you to go home—"

"Kuroko," Kagami interrupts, tightening his grip. "I am home. I'm right here."

Blinking, Kuroko feels himself relax a little. "I suppose you are."

"I told my dad the same thing," Kagami continues. "He's… not happy about it. I didn't think he would be. He'll understand once I finish talking to the scouts here, though. He'll believe I have a reason to stay. Even if that's not the real reason at all."

"No?" Kuroko asks, with a small smile.

"I'm home," Kagami murmurs. "You're home."

starting at the end because this finished me

HOME FICS ARE MY WEAKNESS AND THIS IS A REALLY GREAT HOME FIC

I love the way you've presented Kuroko's thought processes here! It's so good, how you break down the concept of home and hone it in to with Kuroko, and how it's hard to put into words, but Kuroko goes and takes the first step HE IS A GOOD -

This is really nice and comforting <33

Wow this made me so emotional... I adore how Kuroko was so positive Kagami's home is with him, but was worried about it sounding presumptuous. That's such a real dilemma aaahhhhhh and yet Kuroko faces it head on!!!!! I'm so proud of him!!!!!! and fjsldkf;asj "I'm home," Kagami murmurs. "You're home." this line utterly destroyed me!!!! Thank you so much for such a heartwarming fill!!!
