Bonus Round 4: Quotes

A shipping olympics favorite, this round uses quotes of all sorts to fuel your creative endeavors.


This round is CLOSED as of 7PM on July 21 EDT. Late fills may be posted, but they will not receive points.

RULES

• Submit prompts by commenting to this post with a quote attributed to a specific person or character, along with any ship/ot3/etc. from one of our nominated fandoms.
  • Example: "You must be the change you wish to see in the world." - M. Gandhi
  • The quote can come from anywhere. Famous people, poetry, songs, books, movies, your neighbor, etc.
  • Your prompt MUST include some kind of relationship. (This is not the sports anime gen olympics.) Platonic relationships are indicated by an "&" between the names (e.g., Makoto & Rin). Non-platonic relationships use "/" (e.g., Makoto/Rin). Please don't say "Any pairing," either!
• Fill prompts by replying to the prompt with your quote-inspired fanwork.
• Remember to follow the general bonus round rules, outlined here.

SCORING

These numbers apply to your team as a whole, not each individual teammate. Make as many prompts/fills as you want!

For prompts: 5 points each (maximum of 50 prompt points per team per round)

For fills:

First 3 fills by any member of your team: 20 points each
Fills 4-10: 10 points each
Fills 11-20: 5 points each
Fills 21+: 2 points each

All scored content must be created new for this round.

Taka laid out on the beach towel, his legs damp and half caked with sand. The training camp had been a good idea, bringing them out to the beach to practice. But the best part, in Taka’s mind, was the late afternoon, when practice was done and they could split off into their own activities. For Taka, that meant… Fuji.

The sun was setting over the water, turning the rippling waves a fiery orange that framed Fuji as she stepped out of the water. For minute, Taka was certain he was looking at a goddess as she emerged from the seafoam, her swim shirt draped lightly over her arms as water dripped off of her. She looked like something ancient and beautiful, made from sea salt and fire.

She walked over, leaving wet prints in the sand before she stopped, towering over Taka with a smile. “Tired of swimming?”

Taka angled his head to smile up at her. “Just taking a break for a bit.”

She moved to sit, and Taka scooted over to make room for her on his towel. She sat next to him, folding her legs just so, taking up only a little space. Taka would have gladly given her the entire thing.

“Enjoying the view then?” she asked.

Taka nodded, but didn’t let his eyes stray to the sunset. “Yeah. It’s beautiful here.” The sunlight was still hitting her just right, wet skin making her glow. He wondered what she would do if he reached out, just slowly, and slid a finger over her cheek.

Fuji leaned towards him, still smiling, seeming to urge him on. “Be careful with that look, Taka-san. You could make someone misunderstand.”

“That so?”

She leaned ever closer, hovering just slightly away from his face now. “Someone might think you’re not talking about the sun anymore.”

Taka held his breath as he reached out and finally touched her cheek. It was soft and still slightly damp, his hand slipping over her skin. To his thrill, she leaned into his touch, adding a soft, pleasant weight to his palm.

“What made you think I was talking about the sun, Fujiko-chan?”

Fuji smiled and shifted, swinging a leg over Taka’s lap and settling herself on his knees. Her hands were braver than his, reaching out to run over Taka’s abs and up to his chest. She looked into his eyes, and Taka’s breath caught. With the setting sun behind her, it was like a glowing halo formed around her head, and he nearly had to squint to see her.

“You flatter me too much, Taka-san.”

Taka stayed stock still as she leaned in to kiss him.

This is lovely! I enjoy how rich the descriptions are (thank you for taking advantage of the setting to deliver damp skin and sand-caked legs and dripping water and all the other sumptuous hallmarks of a beach scene -- also, eldritch beauty!Fuji, yesss), and how well you incorporated the imagery of the song. The emotional dynamic is also sweet and playful in a way that feels just right for Taka and Fuji. Thank you so much for filling my prompt!
