Someone like you
It's one in a million, the chances of feeling

Can I Have This Dance? - High School Musical 3
FILL: Team Kominato Ryousuke/Kuramochi Youichi, G
Kuramochi watched Ryousuke’s shoulders tense up, furrowing his brow and biting his lip, and winced as if he were the one who got his foot stepped on. “Fuck—sorry, Ryo-san,” he said quickly stepping back and throwing his hands up in apology.
Ryousuke just clicked his tongue. “I came into this expecting you to be as clumsy as any beginner, so there’s really nothing to apologize for,” he said. The words were a little cruel, but he said them with no bite. “These things take work after all.”
Kuramochi rubbed his neck. “Right,” he said, his face red. It was hard to look at Ryousuke while they were doing this. Ryousuke was a little too close for comfort and it made Kuramochi horribly nervous to know that Ryousuke was just a few short centimeters away, looking up at Kuramochi expectantly, his demeanor as cool as ever. He wondered if Ryousuke could hear just how loudly his chest was beating in his heart from where he stood.
“I, uh,” Kuramochi began, his throat feeling a little dry. “I really appreciate you doin’ this for me, Ryo-san,” he said. “I know it’s not easy.”
“Nothing ever is quite easy with you,” Ryousuke responded. Ryousuke fixed him with a look that Kuramochi could only describe as fond and it pierces an arrow straight through Kuramochi’s heart. “But where’s the fun in that?”
“Thanks, I think?” Kuramochi said.
“Although, I’m not quite sure why you asked me to help you to do this specifically,” Ryousuke hummed. “If you wanted help with your ballroom dancing, wouldn’t it have been easier to ask someone who actually lived in the spirit dorms? I’m sure there are people who are just as good as me.”
Except there wasn’t anyone that could be nearly as good as Ryousuke—or at least Kuramochi thought so. Not just in dancing, or even in baseball, but in general. No one could be as harsh yet caring as Ryousuke. No one could vibe Kuramochi in the same way. No one was quite as beautiful. No one could make Kuramochi’s heart beat so loudly and quickly like Ryousuke could.
“I mean, I just… I wanted to ask someone who took this unit in physical education before, y’know?” Kuramochi said with an uneasy chuckle. It was an obvious lie. As soon as Kuramochi realized he was shit at ballroom dancing, Ryousuke was the only person who came to mind when Kuramochi thought of who he should go to. Ryousuke just always made him want to do better.
Ryousuke hummed a response that Kuramochi couldn’t quite read, his head tilted to the side as he looked up at Kuramochi again. “Fair enough,” he said vaguely. “Well? Do you want to keep going?”
“R-right!” Kuramochi stammered. He stepped forward towards Ryousuke’s raised arms, his breath caught in his throat as he took one of Ryousuke’s hands in his, feeling every callous and bruise as Ryousuke’s fingertips graced his palm. Ryousuke put a hand on Kuramochi’s shoulder and Kuramochi’s hand ghosted on his hip.
Ryousuke looked up at him and his lips pulled into a frown. “Be more confident, Kuramochi,” Ryousuke said firmly, fixing him with a steady gaze.
For a moment, Kuramochi wondered if Ryousuke was talking about more than just dancing. Kuramochi gulped and placed his hand more firmly on Ryousuke’s hips. Ryousuke smiled up at him like he was pleased and Kuramochi suddenly felt warm.
It suddenly occurred to Kuramochi just how lucky he was to be here right now. Kuramochi was so lucky to meet Ryousuke in the first place. He was grateful every day that he could walk the same earth as Ryousuke and even be blessed enough to see him in person daily.
And on that note, how many people were lucky enough to have gotten the chance to be this close to Ryousuke? Kuramochi liked to think that he was maybe one of few privy to Ryousuke’s fond smile. He hoped he was the only one who got to stand this close to Ryousuke, with his hand on his hip and chest just mere centimeters away. He was close enough to smell the lingering scent of shampoo from Ryousuke’s bath and could even see the way his eyelashes cast shadows on his cheek under the dim bedroom lamp.
Kuramochi wondered if he would be lucky enough to be able to take another step.
“Well? Are you just going to gawk at me all day, or do you want to move on?” Ryousuke said, his fond smile curling into a teasing smirk.
Kuramochi felt his cheeks grew warm but he smiled all the same. He tightened his grip on Ryousuke and pulled him closer, surprising Ryousuke and watching the slightest bit of pink hue dot Ryousuke’s cheeks Ryousuke raised a curious eyebrow. “Of course, Ryo-san.”
