Bonus Round 4: Quotes

A shipping olympics favorite, this round uses quotes of all sorts to fuel your creative endeavors.


This round is CLOSED as of 7PM on July 21 EDT. Late fills may be posted, but they will not receive points.

RULES

• Submit prompts by commenting to this post with a quote attributed to a specific person or character, along with any ship/ot3/etc. from one of our nominated fandoms.
  • Example: "You must be the change you wish to see in the world." - M. Gandhi
  • The quote can come from anywhere. Famous people, poetry, songs, books, movies, your neighbor, etc.
  • Your prompt MUST include some kind of relationship. (This is not the sports anime gen olympics.) Platonic relationships are indicated by an "&" between the names (e.g., Makoto & Rin). Non-platonic relationships use "/" (e.g., Makoto/Rin). Please don't say "Any pairing," either!
• Fill prompts by replying to the prompt with your quote-inspired fanwork.
• Remember to follow the general bonus round rules, outlined here.

SCORING

These numbers apply to your team as a whole, not each individual teammate. Make as many prompts/fills as you want!

For prompts: 5 points each (maximum of 50 prompt points per team per round)

For fills:

First 3 fills by any member of your team: 20 points each
Fills 4-10: 10 points each
Fills 11-20: 5 points each
Fills 21+: 2 points each

All scored content must be created new for this round.

"You know what, Kageyama makes me feel like I can fly," Hinata says, and Kageyama feels his heart catch in his throat.

Hinata isn't even talking to Kageyama. He isn't even looking at Kageyama; probably doesn't realise the effect that his words have had. It's typical of him, Kageyama thinks, rubbing his hand over his face in an attempt to make his blush disappear. It's not a particularly angry thought; it's just the way Hinata is and Kageyama has learned to get used to it.

He thinks that he might have learned to like it.

He rubs his hand over his face again, turning away. Suga, who is the one Hinata was actually speaking to, catches the movement and looks up at him. There's a knowing look in his eyes, like he's realised exactly what kind of effect Hinata's words have had, but then again, Suga always looks like he understands more than he should about the things that happen around him. Kageyama turns away even more, not caring that it makes him obvious; he's more interested in making sure he avoids Suga's eyes right now.

He's not entirely sure that it's exactly the same as what Hinata is talking about, but he knows what it's like, to feel like he can fly.

It's not just something reserved for the court. He feels it whenever he's with Hinata, whenever he so much as thinks about Hinata, and he's never really had a way to put it into words until right now. He's never really tried, but Hinata is exactly right.

He feels like he could grow wings, like no barrier in the world could ever stop him from getting to where he wants to be. Hinata's smile is enough to make his heart feel light, his laugh feels like the sun-kissed sky itself where Kageyama can spread his wings. Anything feels possible, when he has Hinata with him.

"Hey, are you okay?" Hinata asks later, when they're walking away together, raising an eyebrow at Kageyama. "You totally went red."

"I did not," Kageyama snaps, certain that he's turning even redder as he says it. "Dumbass Hinata, it's all your fault."

"Is it?" Hinata grins. "Am I making you go red? Am I making you blush?"

"No," Kageyama says vehemently, blushing.

"You are," Hinata says gleefully, poking at Kageyama's cheek. "It's cute."

"Dumbass," Kageyama mutters again, but it sounds fond this time. "Come on. Let's go."

"Yeah," Hinata replies, and when their hands find each other, fingers curling around each other, Kageyama feels his heart soar.
