Bonus Round 4: Quotes

A shipping olympics favorite, this round uses quotes of all sorts to fuel your creative endeavors.

This round is CLOSED as of 7PM on July 21 EDT. Late fills may be posted, but they will not receive points.

RULES
  • Submit prompts by commenting to this post with a quote attributed to a specific person or character, along with any ship/ot3/etc. from one of our nominated fandoms.
    • Example: "You must be the change you wish to see in the world." - M. Gandhi
    • The quote can come from anywhere. Famous people, poetry, songs, books, movies, your neighbor, etc.
    • Your prompt MUST include some kind of relationship. (This is not the sports anime gen olympics.) Platonic relationships are indicated by an "&" between the names (e.g., Makoto & Rin). Non-platonic relationships use "/" (e.g., Makoto/Rin). Please don't say "Any pairing," either!
  • Fill prompts by replying to the prompt with your quote-inspired fanwork.
  • Remember to follow the general bonus round rules, outlined here.

blood, death, vampires
word count: 711

"Takahiro," Issei sighs, dragging out each syllable of his partner's name with a roll of his eyes. "When are you going to stop playing with your food?"

"Look at them, though," Takahiro murmurs, and his voice is so silky smooth that it sends a pleasant shudder through Issei's entire body. Takahiro must be using his mesmer; a look at his glowing eyes confirms it, and Issei looks at the small group of humans that Takahiro has managed to corner.

At the very least, they won't be afraid when Takahiro kills them.

Vampires like Takahiro are dangerous at the best of times. They're even worse when, like Takahiro is right now, they're bored and turn to humans for entertainment.

Then again, Issei is a hypocrite if he's going to judge. It's not like he's any better. After all, he's out here too.

"If you're going to kill them," he says, "try not to make too much of a mess? It's no fun, cleaning up afterwards."

Takahiro looks over his shoulder to smile at Issei. "Well, it's not like we have to."

Issei sighs, shaking his head. "Takahiro."

The humans are coming out of Takahiro's thrall, and he turns to them again. The smell of his magic fills the alleyway; decaying roses, the kind that are so sickly sweet that Issei can feel it sticking to his tongue. Issei swallows thickly and hangs back, so he can watch.

Takahiro has managed to corner three people, leading them away from busier, well-lit areas and into this alleyway. He approaches the man in the middle first, reaching out and touching his jaw. The man smiles, and Takahiro strokes his mouth with a thumb. Issei looks away with a sigh, knowing that Takahiro's doing it to get a rise out of him.

"Before someone else finds us, Taka."

"We can handle them, if they do."

"We're not the only ones hunting," Issei reminds him. Humans are easy enough to deal with, no matter their numbers. Other vampires are a different story. Especially if they're hungry.

"Yeah, yeah," Takahiro replies, pushing his prey against the wall, leaning in and sinking his teeth into the soft flesh of the man's throat.

The two others around him are still under Takahiro's spell, but it's losing its power over them as it wars with the instinctive horror to what's happening in front of them. Issei smooths it over with his own magic, the smell of old, rotting wood mixing in with Takahiro's dead roses.

Reaching out for one of them, Takahiro pushes him towards Issei.

"You're too kind," Issei murmurs with a smile, catching the man, strengthening his own spell as he slips a knife out of his pocket. He likes being precise about these things.

He makes a small nick in the man's throat, pressing his thumb to it and letting the blood trickle over it, then brings it to his lips. It's not bad, and Issei isn't overly fussy anyway. He drags the knife across his prey's throat, smiling a little as the arterial spray falls across his face.

"Here you are, telling me not to make a mess," Takahiro murmurs, and Issei looks up.

Takahiro has already killed and drained both of his humans. His lips and chin are a deep red with blood and Issei is suddenly more interested in them than he is in his own meal. He flicks his prey in the forehead, casting a spell to slow his blood loss, and crosses the narrow alleyway, backing Takahiro into the nearest wall and kissing him hard, sucking the blood out of his mouth.

With a low hum, Takahiro kisses back. He licks across the seam of Issei's mouth and then pushes his tongue forward, letting Issei suck on that, too. Issei licks his way down Takahiro's chin, then his neck, lapping away all the stray blood he can find.

"Here," Takahiro murmurs, taking Issei's face between hsis hands and licking it clean, sharing it with him. "Are you going to drain yours now, or do you want to take him home for later?"

"He can wait," Issei decides, tightening his grip on Takahiro. "There are better things I want to do right now."

Takahiro grins, squeezing Issei right back. "Alright, then. Lead the way."
