Bonus Round 5: Myth & Lore

Bonus Round 5: Myth & Lore

Summer's a time for swapping stories around the campfire. With that in mind, this round draws inspiration from the stories humanity have told each other over the centuries.

This round is CLOSED as of 7PM on August 4 EDT. Late fills may be posted, but they will not receive points.

RULES
  • This round does not have prompts. Instead, we ask you to draw inspiration from the wide pool of mythology, fantasy, folklore, and fable. An urban fantasy or supernatural AU? A re-imagining of your favorite folk tale? Characters swapping ghost stories or playing D&D? As long as your fill in some way incorporates the fantastical and/or supernatural, it's welcome here.
  • Your fill still has to be about a ship from one of our nominated fandoms. What ships you create work for is up to you, though.
  • To submit your fill, simply leave it as a comment as a reply to this post.
  • Remember to follow the general bonus round rules, outlined here.

Bonus round shenanigans all happen in the comments below. Brand-new works only, please.

Required Work Minimums:
  • 400 words (prose)
  • 400px by 400px (art)
  • 14 lines (poetry)

Posts not using this format will be understood to be unofficial discussion posts, regardless of what they contain. They, like all comments in this community, are subject to the code of conduct.

SCORING
These numbers apply to your team as a whole, not each individual teammate. Make as many fills as you want!

For fills:

First 3 fills by any member of your team: 20 points each
Fills 4-10: 10 points each
Fills 11-20: 5 points each
Fills 21+: 2 points each

All scored content must be created new for this round.

Etc.
If you're hunting through the prompts looking for what to fill, a good trick is to view top-level comments only.

FILL: TEAM IMAIZUMI SHUNSUKE/NARUKO SHOUKICHI, T

[personal profile] dynamite 2016-07-28 04:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Imaizumi Shunsuke / Naruko Shoukichi, Yowapeda
mild violence, mild gore, supernatural possession, mention of sexual content
454 words, Supernatural AU

“Hey hotshot, any chance of helping me out here?”

There’s a demon on Naruko’s tail, and there’s a demon at his head, and as he watches the thin, hastily poured circle of salt that surrounds them erode grain by precious grain, howling hell winds of the open gateway whipping their hair in their faces, Naruko can’t help but groan as he watches Imaizumi pick curiously at the tshirt he is wearing instead of, say, pulling out his angel blade or even, you know, transporting them to a place where monsters aren’t constantly trying to rip them into very small, very bloody shreds.

“Its face is changing,” Imaizumi frowns. The tshirt is light blue and has the face of a cartoon rabbit on it; the little frown on the rabbit’s face is exactly the same as the one that pulls down Imaizumi’s mouth in thought.

“That’s because you are creature of unknown heavenly powers,” Naruko screams as he uses the stock of his shotgun to block a demon’s long clawed reach from taking out one of Imaizumi’s eyes. “And if you don’t use those unknown heavenly powers to do something about this right now, I swear to god, hotshot, I’m gonna rearrange your face myself!”

“Is that another human expression for--” Imaizumi pauses, sliding the bright silver angel blade from his belt loop and plunging it deep between the ribs of the demon that lunges once more at him. He moves so fast and so smooth that Naruko can barely track his movements, and Naruko is not quite sure if the spike of adrenaline is from a certain kind of human primal fear, or just his dick.

“-- ‘making out’?” Imaizumi finishes, as Naruko cocks a small pistol and fires a quick succession of silver bullets into the demon that crawls through the now broken circle of salt. The sky is a mess of roiling red clouds and thunder without rain; the air tastes like lightning on their tongues, and they know they’re running out of time.

“Gross, gross,” Onoda hisses from where he is hogtied at their feet between them. His eyes are flat and dark, tongue lolling long between lips thinned in a sneer. “I should have expected you two would be this disgusting in front of him.”

“Nobody asked you, Kimosuji,” Imaizumi snaps.

“We need to get Onoda back,” Naruko says, pained. He never wanted Onoda to be part of this.

Imaizumi snaps his fingers, and they’re suddenly all standing shrouded in late evening fog. He looks up, and Naruko follows his eyes to see the giant GUNDAM statue illuminated in the dark. “We will. And I know where to look.”

Onoda yells in delight, and it’s with a mix of two voices.

I can't believe they're going to save both Onoda and Midousuji by taking them on a nerd bonding trip.
