Bonus Round 5: Myth & Lore

Bonus Round 5: Myth & Lore

Summer's a time for swapping stories around the campfire. With that in mind, this round draws inspiration from the stories humanity have told each other over the centuries.

This round is CLOSED as of 7PM on August 4 EDT. Late fills may be posted, but they will not receive points.

RULES
  • This round does not have prompts. Instead, we ask you to draw inspiration from the wide pool of mythology, fantasy, folklore, and fable. An urban fantasy or supernatural AU? A re-imagining of your favorite folk tale? Characters swapping ghost stories or playing D&D? As long as your fill in some way incorporates the fantastical and/or supernatural, it's welcome here.
  • Your fill still has to be about a ship from one of our nominated fandoms. What ships you create work for is up to you, though.
  • To submit your fill, simply leave it as a comment as a reply to this post.
  • Remember to follow the general bonus round rules, outlined here.

SCORING
These numbers apply to your team as a whole, not each individual teammate. Make as many fills as you want!

For fills:

First 3 fills by any member of your team: 20 points each
Fills 4-10: 10 points each
Fills 11-20: 5 points each
Fills 21+: 2 points each

All scored content must be created new for this round.

Etc.
If you're hunting through the prompts looking for what to fill, a good trick is to view top-level comments only.

Iwaizumi Hajime/Oikawa Tooru, Haikyuu!

428 words, Card Captor Sakura!AU aka guess who's Sakura here

Hajime has to be very frank when he asks, “Why am I the one who has to go around catching the Clow Cards?”

“Because the Sun Guardian chose you or something along those lines, isn’t it?” Hanamaki nudges the aforementioned Sun Guardian who’s slumped on the small cushion Hajime has set on the desk for him; Matsukawa blinks awake and brings a paw up to muffle his yawn. He’s still sluggish as he gets up, tiny wings lazily fluttering, tail curling around the mug of honey milk beside him.

He takes a sip, clearly enjoying the sweetness of the drink and leeches the heat from it as well. “If it makes things easier, just think of the Cards as bugs.” He licks the cream clinging to his mouth. “You know, the ones you loved to chase after when you were a kid.”

“The grandest, biggest Insect Catch-‘Em-All,” Hanamaki adds just for the sake of playing devil’s advocate.

Hajime glowers at his so-called best friend. “Don’t think I won’t rip the costumes you force me to wear every time a Card pops up.”

The so-called best friend merely remains unfazed; he taps a finger on the camcorder he always somehow magically manages to whip out even during the most erratic of moments. “Do your worst. I’ve got all the memories I’ll ever need of them here.”

Gritting his teeth, Iwaizumi points out, “What you mean is you’ve got all the blackmail you’ll ever need from me.”

“Astute,” the other boy grins and replies, sharing a look of mutual satisfaction with Matsukawa.

“You’ve got to admit though, you do look rather fetching in them,” the Sun Guardian tries to reason, “and Makki’s sewing skills are truly a marvel.” He waggles his thick eyebrows for further emphasis.

“What’s so wrong with using regular clothes?” Hajime groans. He tugs the mug away from Matsukawa’s grasp in spite of his protestations; let that be a lesson to him when it comes to choosing sides and battles.

Hanamaki chortles. “At least I know there’s someone else other than Mattsun who appreciates the clothes I make for you.”

Hajime’s head whips around and the expression on his face could boil water. “Do not.”

“Ah, yes,” Matsukawa joins in on the fun. “A certain counterpart from Miyagi who’s after the Clow Cards too.” He grins deviously; it makes Iwaizumi shudder in horror.

“Who are you both trying to imply?”

Hanamaki and Matsukawa chime gleefully in unison: “Who else? Oikawa, of course!”

(Iwaizumi nearly summons Firey to make them repent, which is a truly sobering reality, indeed.)
