Bonus Round 6: Remixes

The event's almost over, and you've made it this far, congrats! This round encourages you to look back at everything the SASO has made and use it as inspiration.

This round is CLOSED as of 7PM on August 18 EDT. Late fills may be posted, but they will not receive points.

RULES

• Choose a fanwork created by other participants in a previous main or bonus round of SASO and create a new piece based on it. You could create a fanart of another work, an FST inspired by a piece’s style, retell another person’s fanfic from another point of view, create a new fanfic inspired by a great piece of art... go wild!
• You cannot remix your teammates' works.
• You must have permission from the original creator. There's a blanket permissions post here (feel free to add yourself to it!), or you can leave a comment on their original post asking for permission.
• You must include the dreamwidth link to the original work in your post.
• Since all fills are based on previous works, there will be no prompts for this round. Simply post your fill as a comment in response to this post.
• Remember to follow the general bonus round rules, outlined here.

Required Work Minimums:

• 400 words (prose)
• 400px by 400px (art)
• 14 lines (poetry)

There is no max work cap.

SCORING

These numbers apply to your team as a whole, not each individual teammate. Make as many fills as you want!

For fills:

First 3 fills by any member of your team: 20 points each
Fills 4-10: 10 points each
Fills 11-20: 5 points each
Fills 21+: 2 points each

It's a pleasant night outside, not exactly warm, but the chill hasn't set in yet either. Kuroo is content to stand out here, with the gentle night breeze against his skin as he waits.

He hears a flap in the distance and things that he sees the shape of familiar wings against the dark sky. He turns his head, following the movement, and smiles to himself. He knows those wings, he recognises that flight pattern. Bokuto, an owl shifter rather than an actual owl, always has his own idiosyncrasies as he flies. He doesn't move the same way that a regular owl would, and Kuroo has spent enough time with him that he can pick out the difference immediately. Even when there aren't any other owls to compare to.

Lifting his hand, wearing the thick glove that he's come to use whenever he's greeting Bokuto like this, Kuroo whistles loudly. It's one single piercing note that hangs in the air, and he waits a beat, before he hears Bokuto hoot in reply.

Another flap, and Bokuto glides into sight. His light feathers make him easier to spot in the darkness and Kuroo realises that he's grinning, his heart already pounding in anticipation. It's been a while, after all. Bokuto hasn't been around since the beginning of winter.

With his wings spread out to control his descent, Bokuto lands carefully on Kuroo's outstretched hand. He's heavier than he looks in this form, and Kuroo always forgets that at first. His arm dips until he adjusts to the wait, and then he lifts it up again, smiling down at Bokuto.

"Hey, man. It's good to see you again."

With another hoot, Bokuto fluffs himself up. Kuroo laughs softly, bringing his hand closer, so that he can nuzzle against Bokuto. He loves how soft Bokuto's feathers feel like this, and he loves it when Bokuto nuzzles right back. He feels Bokuto's beak against his cheek, and Kuroo presses a kiss into the soft feathers in return.

Lifting off from Kuroo's hand, Bokuto shifts back into his human form, landing lightly on his feet just in front of Kuroo. He stretches his arms out over his head with a happy sigh.

"Well," Bokuto grins, "you're a sight for sore eyes."

"Could say the same of you," Kuroo replies, stepping closer. He takes hold of Bokuto's shirt, pulling him closer. "I missed you, while you were away."

"I missed you too," Bokuto replies, hugging Kuroo tightly. "I had heaps of other owls to talk to, and some of them were shifters too, but it's not quite the same as you."

"I know," Kuroo sighs, pressing his lips to Bokuto's. "I hate winter. Welcome home."

With a smile, Bokuto kisses him back. "Glad to be back."
