Bonus Round 1: AUs

SASO 2017 is over, but this round is perpetually open to new fills (no new prompts).


This popular round is back once again! To begin this year's SASO, we encourage you to let your mind run wild with alternate ideas and settings.


Please read this whole post before commenting to ensure that your team gets the most points possible. (There are changes from last year!)

RULES

• Submit prompts by commenting to this post with an alternate universe idea, along with a ship from one of our nominated fandoms. There's a comment template below for your convenience.
  • Your prompt MUST include some kind of relationship. (This is not the sports anime gen olympics.) Platonic relationships are indicated by an "&" between the names (e.g., Izumi & Sakaeguchi). Non-platonic relationships use "/" (e.g., Izumi/Sakaeguchi). Please don't say "Any pairing," either!
• An AU can be a canon divergence, e.g. "what if [character] was the Team Captain instead of the canon captain character?", or a completely different setting altogether, e.g., pop idol AU, coffee shop AU, superheroes AU, etc.
• Fill prompts by leaving a responding comment to the prompt with your newly-created work.
• Remember to follow the general bonus round rules, outlined here.

SCORING

These numbers apply to your team as a whole, not each individual teammate. Make as many prompts/fills as you want!

For prompts: 5 points each (maximum of 50 prompt points per team per round)

For fills:
First 4 fills by any member of your team: 20 points each
Fills 5-10: 15 points each
Fills 11-20: 5 points each
Fills 21-50: 2 points each
Fills 51+: 1 point each

All scored content must be created new for this round.

Winter covers earth in a blurry snow, freezing Midousuji beneath the barren land. But spring finally comes, breeding lavenders and earthworms out of the sleeping land. The first rainfall of the year stirs the dull roots of the earth and soaks life back into him. He tears away at the raw earth- scratching and clawing and reaching for the surface.

He must reach the surface; every ounce of his being was telling him he had to tear out of the rubble of the earth and the stretching lilacs, and go even farther than the top of the skeletons of trees yet to revive and the wool clouds- and find the light.

The light he dreamed of, when his memories and desires would meld beneath the earth. The light that seemed to reach the farthest corners of the earth, but never beneath the rocks, under the porches and among the alleyways that the shadow creature had confined himself to.

He knew the sun had no mercy for a creature like him. Because Midousuji was cold like a crypt, a cursed tomb made of marble and clay and the light was blessed, flush with the blood of life and everlasting love for all creatures that shared the warmth of that blood.

Midousuji has dreamt of what that glowing material would feel like between his jaws, sinking down into the dark bed of his stomach. He’ll reach up and pluck it out of the sky, grin as it’s delicious blood stuck to his insides.

Midousuji rises with the chill of dawn to reunite with the light and soon the earth begins to glimmer and a vast softness overcomes the sky. The creature is ready now to stretch out and contort himself and take what is his.

But know he realizes, this is a god.

The embodiment of brightness and warmth, golden and glowing with specks of the very sky itself within those eyes. He thinks he might dry up like a raisin in the presence of this sunlight. His essence might fester like a sore- rotting meat cooking in the intensity of the heat.

And now he thinks he might explode, because the sun is reaching out towards him, rays of white and orange and yellow and yellow and yellow. Its direct touch doesn’t hurt like Midousuji thought it would. Instead it warms his very being, washing over him like sunbeams shooting through his veins. His heart is filled with white and orange and yellow ecstasy. His heart opens like a gulf and swallows the light and now he thinks he might know what it feels like to be alive. Now the creature can see it now too, the sun is smiling at him.

This is a god.

ahhh I love this so much?? onoda is so bright and vibrant and beautiful (ONODA IS ALL THOSE THINGS!!) and the colour palette is so wonderfully evocative against the black shadow that is midou... and midou's.... really great.... monstrous eyes and mouth. what an artfully realised idea!
