Bonus Round 1: AUs

AUs

SASO 2017 is over, but this round is perpetually open to new fills (no new prompts).

This popular round is back once again! To begin this year's SASO, we encourage you to let your mind run wild with alternate ideas and settings.

Please read this whole post before commenting to ensure that your team gets the most points possible. (There are changes from last year!)

RULES
  • Submit prompts by commenting to this post with an alternate universe idea, along with a ship from one of our nominated fandoms. There's a comment template below for your convenience.
    • Your prompt MUST include some kind of relationship. (This is not the sports anime gen olympics.) Platonic relationships are indicated by an "&" between the names (e.g., Izumi & Sakaeguchi). Non-platonic relationships use "/" (e.g., Izumi/Sakaeguchi). Please don't say "Any pairing," either!
  • An AU can be a canon divergence, e.g. "what if [character] was the Team Captain instead of the canon captain character?", or a completely different setting altogether, e.g., pop idol AU, coffee shop AU, superheroes AU, etc.
  • Fill prompts by leaving a responding comment to the prompt with your newly-created work.
  • Remember to follow the general bonus round rules, outlined here.

SCORING
These numbers apply to your team as a whole, not each individual teammate. Make as many prompts/fills as you want!

For prompts: 5 points each (maximum of 50 prompt points per team per round)

For fills:
First 4 fills by any member of your team: 20 points each
Fills 5-10: 15 points each
Fills 11-20: 5 points each
Fills 21-50: 2 points each
Fills 51+: 1 point each

All scored content must be created new for this round.

Etc.
If you're hunting through the prompts looking for what to fill, a good trick is to view top-level comments only (see the line of links below this post).

The dryads ran the farmer's market, as it was their grove that the market took place in every week. The black pines were in charge of the vendors, the red maples supervised set-up, and Makishima, the grove's lone weeping cherry tree, stood by the pond and watched all the while. Makishima liked most humans—they liked their soft skin and their wild, colorful imaginations—but in recent weeks, there was one human they seemed to be particularly captured by.

Kinjou was a new vendor, selling peaches and melons, and the red maples put him at the end of the row nearest to Makishima’s tree. He liked to arrive earlier than most of the other vendors, so that he could drive right up to the booth space, unload everything, then move his truck out before everyone else piled into the grove to set up. Makishima would always surreptitiously shift their branches to give a little more shade to Kinjou’s space while he set up, protecting him from the heat of the summer sun, but they had yet to do more than that.

“If you just stare at him all the time, you’ll frighten him,” Toudou told them one day. Makishima ignored him, which wasn’t easy—the little magnolia was always hanging around Makishima’s tree in his person-form, and he had a big mouth. He prodded them. “Maki-chan, go say hello.”

“Go away, Jinpachi,” Makishima said. They drew their person-form a little closer to their trunk, hiding partly from Kinjou’s view. Toudou made a show of sighing in exasperation, the branches of his tree across the pond shaking as he did.

“You will thank me for this, someday,” he said, and started towards Kinjou’s booth. Makishima stared after him.

“Jinpachi,” they hissed, then a little louder, “Jinpachi!

Of course, Toudou ignored them. He paused by one of the red maples’ person-forms, smiling and chatting with her for a moment, all the while watching Kinjou out of the corner of his eye. The moment Kinjou’s back was turned, Toudou gracefully excused himself from the conversation and approached Kinjou’s booth, swift and quiet. Makishima watched, confused at first, then horrified as Toudou plucked a melon from one of the produce boxes and sent it rolling towards the pond. Toudou pointed at the melon, then at Makishima, then at Kinjou, then beamed and darted off before Kinjou even looked up. Makishima could hardly believe the magnolia’s audacity.

The melon was picking up speed as it rolled down the pond’s sloping bank, and Makishima hurried to catch it. Toudou was nowhere to be seen now, but Makishima had a feeling that he was watching gleefully as they begrudgingly brought the melon back to Kinjou’s booth.

“You… dropped this,” Makishima said. Kinjou looked up from the peaches he was carefully stacking on his table, and Makishima held up the melon.

“Oh, I hadn’t noticed.” Kinjou took it, and examined it for bruises or dents. “Thank you.”

Makishima shifted awkwardly, unable to think of anything else to say, and started to back away, towards their tree. Toudou would be so disappointed, but at least he can’t say I told you so.

“You know, I’ve been enjoying the shade from your tree for several weeks now,” said Kinjou, and Makishima froze, “but I don’t know your name.”

“Oh. It’s Makishima.”

“I’m Kinjou.” He smiled at Makishima, and a blossom appeared in the fine branches that mimicked hair on their person-form, bright pink against the green of their leaves.

OooOOOO BROOOOO this is so good,,,, I love their lingo for themselves/humans, I LOVE THAT THIS GROVE JUST lends itself to the market haha, that they didn't bloom until the end, I love Maki's trepidation in confronting Kinjou (AND TOUDOU FORCING HIM INTO IT) AND THE END AND EVERYTHING just the whole thing
Your stories always feel like excerpts from life I love it, like we just get a taste but this isn't The End of their narrative (in the best way :> )
