Bonus Round 1: AUs

SASO 2017 is over, but this round is perpetually open to new fills (no new prompts).


This popular round is back once again! To begin this year's SASO, we encourage you to let your mind run wild with alternate ideas and settings.


Please read this whole post before commenting to ensure that your team gets the most points possible. (There are changes from last year!)

RULES

• Submit prompts by commenting to this post with an alternate universe idea, along with a ship from one of our nominated fandoms. There's a comment template below for your convenience.
  • Your prompt MUST include some kind of relationship. (This is not the sports anime gen olympics.) Platonic relationships are indicated by an "&" between the names (e.g., Izumi & Sakaeguchi). Non-platonic relationships use "/" (e.g., Izumi/Sakaeguchi). Please don't say "Any pairing," either!
• An AU can be a canon divergence, e.g. "what if [character] was the Team Captain instead of the canon captain character?", or a completely different setting altogether, e.g., pop idol AU, coffee shop AU, superheroes AU, etc.
• Fill prompts by leaving a responding comment to the prompt with your newly-created work.
• Remember to follow the general bonus round rules, outlined here.

SCORING

These numbers apply to your team as a whole, not each individual teammate. Make as many prompts/fills as you want!

For prompts: 5 points each (maximum of 50 prompt points per team per round)

For fills:
First 4 fills by any member of your team: 20 points each
Fills 5-10: 15 points each
Fills 11-20: 5 points each
Fills 21-50: 2 points each
Fills 51+: 1 point each

All scored content must be created new for this round.

The little human is back, Makishima observes lazily from his perch in his tree. The apple tree that he is bound to has influenced how he looks, giving him long tresses of hair colored green as leaves and as red as his apples. His fellow dryads are all similarly colored, garbed in petals and leaves.

Humans are so dull by comparison! Their hair only comes in four colors and their skin is only ever some shade of brown.

Their clothing is interesting, though. Makishima will admit to that.

The little human that comes to them the most often, however, only ever wears white. It squints at things, chops at them with a carved metal blade, and occasionally cuts itself.

Makishima’s tree, wreathed with mistletoe as it is, has often been blessed by the little human’s blood.

Perhaps that is why he drops down from his tree and approaches the human. Perhaps it is only boredom.

“What do you seek today?” He asks, looming tall and lanky over the little human. The little human squeaks, falls over, and scrambles back. Fascinating! Makishima did not know the humans could still propel themselves when turned upside down. Most flesh-beings wriggle to get the right side up and then move.

“I- I --” The little human stuttered, staring up at Makishima with eyes the deep, vivid blue of cineraria blooms.

Makishima waited patiently, spindly fingers reaching out to run through the human’s roots. He doesn’t understand why humans have their roots on top or why they’re so thin. At least animals have their roots all over.

The human squeaks again. It sounds almost mouse-like. But mice do not grow this big and the little human has no tail so Makishima decides it is not actually a mouse in disguise.

“Are you a god?” The little human asks, clutching its fronds of silverleaf and its weapon to its trunk.

“I do not know,” Makishima answers reasonably. “What is a god?”

The little human explains and Makishima decides he likes the concept.

“Yes. I am a god.”

The other dryads are laughing; he can hear it in the rustle of their leaves despite the lack of wind, in the bending-falling flower petals that suddenly crown him with a circle of pure white apple blossoms.

The little human seems most impressed by that, staring with wide-eyed awe.

It is a good look on the little human. Makishima decides he like that look too.

“Come, little human,” he says magnanimously. He takes an apple blossom from his own tree and tucks it into the human’s short locks. That will let him walk with the human even though they go away from his own tree. Only when it withers will he have to return.

“I will show you a better place to find silverleaf.”

The others are still laughing as he leaves with the little human but Makishima doesn’t care. The little human intrigues him and besides, the little squirrel that lived in his tree died last winter. Perhaps the little human will prove a hardier pet.

When nobody messes with them, trees can outlive humans easily. Especially ones with dryads.

Onoda is just so small and round and cute to him. It's like us when we look at adorable little fluffy hamsters or something! Maki is intrigued but still convinced he is the superior species.

Also please imagine Onoda with all the flower crowns.
