Bonus Round 1: AUs

AUs

SASO 2017 is over, but this round is perpetually open to new fills (no new prompts).


This popular round is back once again! To begin this year's SASO, we encourage you to let your mind run wild with alternate ideas and settings.


Please read this whole post before commenting to ensure that your team gets the most points possible. (There are changes from last year!)

RULES
  • Submit prompts by commenting to this post with an alternate universe idea, along with a ship from one of our nominated fandoms. There's a comment template below for your convenience.
    • Your prompt MUST include some kind of relationship. (This is not the sports anime gen olympics.) Platonic relationships are indicated by an "&" between the names (e.g., Izumi & Sakaeguchi). Non-platonic relationships use "/" (e.g., Izumi/Sakaeguchi). Please don't say "Any pairing," either!
  • An AU can be a canon divergence, e.g. "what if [character] was the Team Captain instead of the canon captain character?", or a completely different setting altogether, e.g., pop idol AU, coffee shop AU, superheroes AU, etc.
  • Fill prompts by leaving a responding comment to the prompt with your newly-created work.
  • Remember to follow the general bonus round rules, outlined here.

SCORING
These numbers apply to your team as a whole, not each individual teammate. Make as many prompts/fills as you want!

For prompts: 5 points each (maximum of 50 prompt points per team per round)

For fills:
First 4 fills by any member of your team: 20 points each
Fills 5-10: 15 points each
Fills 11-20: 5 points each
Fills 21-50: 2 points each
Fills 51+: 1 point each

All scored content must be created new for this round.

sorry for the wait!

knitting and crochet is Great & carlos and harada are Right, mei. mei, please you can't just knit someone a scarf and think they'll hate it (if they do, you destroy them duh) carlos in a hot pink & acid green scarf!!!!! i really am going to knit this later. i don't have the same astounding colour sense as mei so i'll have to buy yarn in those colours but i'm not complaining lol

i am now going to go into a bunch of headcanons for what everyone in your fill knits
-kataoka: LACE SHAWLS because he is exactly who you'd ask to help knit your wedding veil, this man probably doesn't even use a lifeline. oh god, he'll save your life and your dropped stitches
-yuuki: gloves, that's it. he knits a whole bunch of them for the team before he realises batting gloves==knitted gloves. but he still likes the difficulty level & still knits for the team
-sanada: he knits EVERYTHING, because everything is going straight to raichi anyway. cosy sweaters, gloves, socks and hats that fit raichi #keepraichiwarm2017
-half of akikawa: these boys are knitting hexipuffs, i just know it. they're gonna make a bunch of quilts, and at least one of them is going back with shunshin. they have a shared spreadsheet for stitch-counts and participate in the knitting olympics off season too
-mukai: fair isle sweaters because he would and he'd choose weird colourways just to troll giftees. but his floats would be pristine and the seams not-bulky so no one complains
-MIYUKI: he acts all cocky but he can't even do magic loop knitting yet. geez, he probably keeps going back to buy another set of double pointed needles because he keeps losing one
i'm not sorry about all this meta, just sorry that i can't do anything with it ;.;

i was serious about rude af!mei/fluffy!mura being my ship ideal. mei disparages sawamura, sawamura doesn't notice/runs into his arms anyway, mei is defeated. ANYWAY, while i am confident in your skills at pitching a ball of yarn NO MEI if it lands in his mouth, the yarn will get covered in spit and you'll have to unravel and wash it. save yourself the pain

i just want to let you know that this sentence killed me. the contempt and disregard of starting with acrylic, just....how little do you think of sawamura, mei?? also he's managed to learn so much about yarn since starting this job, he cares after all ;A; my best guess for sawamura is an etsy store full of his own amigurumi designs (haruichi is in charge of running the store though) and knitting stuff to send back to family in friends in nagano. what a Good

i LOVE your characterisation of mei!!! he's out to provoke people and then sawamura goes and pisses him off instead. he doesn't care about knitting, but he ends up working at a lys anyway. he hates that box of yarn, but he wants to know more about it. ahhhh so cute <33

again, THANK YOU SO MUCH for filling this!! i didn't think it'd get filled because rare pairs but i'm so happy that this exists!!

mei's colour choices were based on WHICH COLOURS WOULD BE THE MOST OBNOXIOUS AND WOULD LOOK ABSOLUTELY FUCKING TERRIBLE TOGETHER and acid green and hot pink it was, but mei, oh mei. at least it wasn't a sweater.

- kataoka to the rescue, bless his crochet and knitting, everyone admires that shawl rei has but she never tells anyone more than christmas present from friend AND EVERYONE IS ALWAYS ASKING bc d a yum it's lovely
- jun was yuuki's unfortunate first victim/giftee/recipient of yuuki's intense sincerity he still has like ten pairs of badly knitted and not so well fitting gloves BUT BECAUSE HE'S A SENTIMENTAL SHOUJO MANGA LOVING SAP he keeps them
-bless sanada, saving raichi one sweater/hat/sock/glove at a time, bless him for having such a big heart and capable hands
-AKIKAWA QUILTING YES they make squares and hexagons and whatever and the quilt they have in progress is big enough to wrap shunshin five times for best burrito effect, but they're still not done. everyone is expected to contribute at least one square because how else would it be ~special~ and a worthy souvenir for their wayward ace?
-YES one year he does horrible christmas coloured and themed ones because he's terrible while he makes himself something tasteful with navy and cream so everyone's looking terrifically unflattering except for him
-BET U MIYUKI CANT EVEN CAST ON OR OFF PROPERLY he knows how to knit and purl but patterns are beyond him never mind trying the magic loop because he keeps dropping stitches and yuuki despairs because he'd figured miyuki would be at least as good as he is in shogi (poor yuuki)

im crying because this sounds exactly like what would happen until sawamura grows on mei like a barnacle

look acrylic is just about everywhere and very popular but also for beginners and come on this is sawamura we're talking about, what would he know about yarn anyways why would you want to waste perfectly nice yarn on someone who won't appreciate it BUT ALSO MEI mei is just very contrary and has difficulty admitting he likes things especially not if harada and carlos drag him into it kicking and screaming

HARUICHI FINDS OUT AFTER RECEIVING THE CUTEST TINY YARN BUNNY and sets up the etsy and helps sawamura manage orders. furuya's also been given a tiny polar bear with very sleepy eyes that he adores, though he won't admit it to sawamura. he's also learning to crochet bc damnit he can't let sawamura be better than him. BUT YEAH SAWAMURA he's be making so many things for family and friends he's in the process of making a cthulhu for ryou-san in an attempt to butter him up into teaching him better batting skills (nice try mura) but mochi's been pleasantly surprised by a very well made cheetah and he gets super defensive when people ask about it

someone save mei from himself just--

this actually got away from me i'm glad you like it so much though i'm so amused by it it was a fun write <3

ahhh, sorry again for taking so long to reply!!! this would've gone faster if i just livetweeted my response but whatever, brain , whatever

unfortunately, i don't know where the harada's are finding their neon pinks/greens so my version might end up muted instead of fashion nightmare......thank god it wasn't a sweater for real

where do knitting headcanons go??? is there a repository that is just handicrafts for sports anime, because i have a Great Need. yours are SO GOOD too, and i mean.....

i love mei, so #RELATABLE....but seriously, i HATE knitting for people who can't appreciate good yarn....please just take care of it,,,, i spent hours on it orz..........
