Bonus Round 1: AUs

SASO 2017 is over, but this round is perpetually open to new fills (no new prompts).


This popular round is back once again! To begin this year's SASO, we encourage you to let your mind run wild with alternate ideas and settings.


Please read this whole post before commenting to ensure that your team gets the most points possible. (There are changes from last year!)

RULES

• Submit prompts by commenting to this post with an alternate universe idea, along with a ship from one of our nominated fandoms. There's a comment template below for your convenience.
  • Your prompt MUST include some kind of relationship. (This is not the sports anime gen olympics.) Platonic relationships are indicated by an "&" between the names (e.g., Izumi & Sakaeguchi). Non-platonic relationships use "/" (e.g., Izumi/Sakaeguchi). Please don't say "Any pairing," either!
• An AU can be a canon divergence, e.g. "what if [character] was the Team Captain instead of the canon captain character?", or a completely different setting altogether, e.g., pop idol AU, coffee shop AU, superheroes AU, etc.
• Fill prompts by leaving a responding comment to the prompt with your newly-created work.
• Remember to follow the general bonus round rules, outlined here.

• 400 words (prose)
• 400px by 400px (art)
• 14 lines (poetry)

SCORING

These numbers apply to your team as a whole, not each individual teammate. Make as many prompts/fills as you want!

For prompts: 5 points each (maximum of 50 prompt points per team per round)

For fills:
First 4 fills by any member of your team: 20 points each
Fills 5-10: 15 points each
Fills 11-20: 5 points each
Fills 21-50: 2 points each
Fills 51+: 1 point each

All scored content must be created new for this round.

like 99% of the situations presented here are experiences i've had playing this accursed game so this was highly cathartic to write.

"Defeat!"

Oikawa swears he feels a vein in his forehead throb, and he picks up his phone as the Play of the Game shows on the screen ("stupid Reaper with stupid-ass Death Blossom," he mutters under his breath), texting Iwaizumi:

please get online i'm dying

Iwaizumi's response comes quickly:

it can't be that bad

our soldier kept trying to 1v6 everyone with his ult, iwa-chan!!

Shortly after he hears the pleasant trill of Iwaizumi inviting him to his party; Oikawa grabs his headset and joins.

Iwaizumi skips a traditional greeting and instead opts for immediately asking: "Was he really trying to 1v6?"

"Yes!" Oikawa exclaims, and he can practically see Iwaizumi's face darken. "And no one wanted to be healer."

"Then why didn't you switch?" Iwaizumi asks, dropping them into the game queue.

"Because no one would tank, either!"

He hears a sigh on the other end. "Well, I'm here now, so no risk of dealing with an idiot Soldier main."

"My hero," Oikawa responds.

"Traveling to: Eichenwalde."

"You going D.Va or Mercy?"

"Matsu, if you don't get on the point—oh, thank you."

"And you doubted me," Matsu says dryly, securing the point ("Attack Objective B"). "Better get Play of the Game for that shit. Pinned that D.Va and got a triple kill."

Oikawa, in the spawn room, switches to Mercy. "I'm going second healer since this Lucio appparently doesn't know how to do anything except speed boost."

Iwaizumi grunts in acknowledgment. "Do we just wanna push the middle?"

"We're both heading your way now," Matsukawa says.

"Let's push middle to start," Oikawa says, "see how they do. Maki, go ahead and flank left, try to get that Bastion."

"Going for either that or the Mercy," Maki responds, and Oikawa watches his Tracer blink across the screen and disappear.

"I'll take either," Iwaizumi mutters. "This Reaper just won't fucking die, God."

"Heads up—one of them switched to Widowmaker," Matsu breaks in. "Iwaizumi—"

"I know, she almost took me out a second ago," he says. "I'm just trying to keep moving."

"What's your ult at?" Oikawa asks, soaring to heal their Hanzo (username "analfuhbreeze").

"60 percent," Iwaizumi responds. "Matsu?"

"Mine is good to go," Matsu answers. "Want me to hold it for yours?"

"Yeah, I think that'd be best."

"We've got time," Oikawa says.

"Can someone tell me what is unclear about 'I need healing' because I don't think this Lucio is getting the message and I just—goddammit!"

"I'm going after that Widowmaker," Maki's voice is terse.

"Please," Oikawa responds, rapidly switching between views of the rest of the team while he waits to respawn. "Avenge me, Maki."

"60 seconds remain."

"Where the hell is our McCree?"

"I lost track of him; I think he's trying to flank right by himself like a dumbass."

Matsu proceeds to spam "Group up with me!" It has the expected result of no effect whatsoever.

"Well, I tried."

"Rest in pieces," Maki mutters. "I—oh fuck the Orisa switched to fucking Roadhog, are you shitting me—wait, fuck, shit—ha! HA! I got both of them!"

"Proud of you," Matsu says, "now get on the damn point so—"

"Step right up!"

"Found our McCree."

The sound of gunshots echoes through Oikawa's headset, and he sighs.

"He didn't get any kills off that, did he?" It's more of a statement than a question, given Iwaizumi's tired exasperation.

"Not a single one," Oikawa says, feeling that vein start throbbing again.

"Aaaand now he's dead."

"Matsu, do you wanna—"

"I'm rushing the point now, but I'm gonna need—oh, you're right there."

"Just don't stop moving," Oikawa says through gritted teeth, holding down his right trigger to replenish Reinhardt's health. "Why won't this Lucio heal, for fuck's sake—"

"Fire in the hole!"

"Shit, shit, shit, shitshitshitshit—"
