Bonus Round 1: AUs
SASO 2017 is over, but this round is perpetually open to new fills (no new prompts).
Please read this whole post before commenting to ensure that your team gets the most points possible. (There are changes from last year!)
RULES
- Submit prompts by commenting to this post with an alternate universe idea, along with a ship from one of our nominated fandoms. There's a comment template below for your convenience.
- Your prompt MUST include some kind of relationship. (This is not the sports anime gen olympics.) Platonic relationships are indicated by an "&" between the names (e.g., Izumi & Sakaeguchi). Non-platonic relationships use "/" (e.g., Izumi/Sakaeguchi). Please don't say "Any pairing," either!
- An AU can be a canon divergence, e.g. "what if [character] was the Team Captain instead of the canon captain character?", or a completely different setting altogether, e.g., pop idol AU, coffee shop AU, superheroes AU, etc.
- Fill prompts by leaving a responding comment to the prompt with your newly-created work.
- Remember to follow the general bonus round rules, outlined here.

What people other than his partners never stood understood was that Misdirecting was exhausting.
He wasn’t just standing there in the harness while his partner did all the work. He was working to make the robot as inconspicuous as possible. It was easier if there was another Jaeger there that he could misdirect attention onto but most often, it was just them and the kaiju. The longer the battle drew out, the harder it was to make the amphibious monsters look at any except their opponents- waves, helicopters, flocks of seagulls, none of them sufficed to draw the kaiju’s attention away.
Today’s mission had been especially tiring. The Category IV Kaiju they’d battled had gone down hard in the end but not before managing to practically shatter one of Vorpal Sword’s arms. Both he and Kagami had been shaken by the close call and now, hours later, Kuroko was still soaking in the hot tub.
The door pushed open and Kagami’s head poked through. Seeing Kuroko, he grunted with satisfaction and padded over. He stripped off his clothes and joined Kuroko in the massive tub, the water displacement creating small waves that made Kuroko shudder.
“Didn’t you spend enough time in the water today?” Kagami asked bluntly as he shifted about to position himself in front of the massaging jets.
“I’m going to die in it some day,” Kuroko said, closing his eyes. It wasn’t a question of modesty – they shared minds, that was more intimate than nudity – but how much effort it kept to keep his eyes open. “I might as well enjoy its plus points while I can.”
“Shouldn’t that be we?” Kagami asked, annoyance clear in the deep rumble of his voice.
“No.” Kuroko laughed, then winced at the ache that shot through his ribs. “You’ll burn out or leave, Kagami. Everyone does.”
Aomine, Momoi, Kise – Kagami had been in Kuroko’s head and seen how all of those partnerships had ended. Aomine had grown impatient, overconfident in his abilities and insisted he could handle a Jaegar with someone else. Kuroko could have some other partner. Two good pilots were better than one.
Momoi had been his partner for a little in the aftermath of Aomine but then the news had come that Aomine had actually tried to pilot a Jaegar alone – and nearly fried his own brain doing so. She’d left to look after Aomine and when he’d recovered, she was his co-pilot.
That was when they gave him Kise, who was optimistic and bright-eyed and so heroically hopeful that it made Kuroko’s heart ache just to see him smile.
Kise had been the most recent. Losing him still hurt the most.
“Stop thinking about them,” Kagami said gruffly, scooting closer to Kise’s side of the tub.
“You don’t know I am. We aren’t drifting,” Kuroko countered.
“We don’t have to be drifting for me to know when you’re thinking about them,” Kagami said. He slipped his arm and drew Kuroko closer, pressing his mouth to Kuroko’s in a demanding kiss.
For a little while, at least, Kuroko thought of nothing but Kagami.
