Bonus Round 1: AUs

SASO 2017 is over, but this round is perpetually open to new fills (no new prompts).


This popular round is back once again! To begin this year's SASO, we encourage you to let your mind run wild with alternate ideas and settings.


Please read this whole post before commenting to ensure that your team gets the most points possible. (There are changes from last year!)

RULES

• Submit prompts by commenting to this post with an alternate universe idea, along with a ship from one of our nominated fandoms. There's a comment template below for your convenience.
  • Your prompt MUST include some kind of relationship. (This is not the sports anime gen olympics.) Platonic relationships are indicated by an "&" between the names (e.g., Izumi & Sakaeguchi). Non-platonic relationships use "/" (e.g., Izumi/Sakaeguchi). Please don't say "Any pairing," either!
• An AU can be a canon divergence, e.g. "what if [character] was the Team Captain instead of the canon captain character?", or a completely different setting altogether, e.g., pop idol AU, coffee shop AU, superheroes AU, etc.
• Fill prompts by leaving a responding comment to the prompt with your newly-created work.
• Remember to follow the general bonus round rules, outlined here.

• 14 lines (poetry)

SCORING

These numbers apply to your team as a whole, not each individual teammate. Make as many prompts/fills as you want!

For prompts: 5 points each (maximum of 50 prompt points per team per round)

For fills:
First 4 fills by any member of your team: 20 points each
Fills 5-10: 15 points each
Fills 11-20: 5 points each
Fills 21-50: 2 points each
Fills 51+: 1 point each

All scored content must be created new for this round.

Kagami makes his way down to the gym for practice, a little absent-minded, but excited to get on the court. His excitement quickly takes a back seat to abject fear when he sees something sitting right next to Kuroko. He stops like he’s been magnetized to the floor and extends a shaking hand to point at the creature.

“What is that?” he demands, horrified. Kuroko turns, as calm as ever, and tilts his head gently.
“Oh, I found him out in the rain and felt bad for him,” Kuroko says, like that’s sufficient explanation.
“But what is he??” Before Kuroko has a chance to answer him, the rest of the team enters the gym, chattering loudly. They’re all drawn to the new visitor, who, admittedly, has very captivating pale blue eyes, once you get over the glittering black and white scales. Kagami feels like he’s lost his mind, standing there, watching the team pet and play with the creature like it’s a dog. Nobody seems the least bit fazed or even curious about the scales, or the tail, or the occasional tendril of smoke leaving its nostrils.

Kagami presses a hand to his forehead and confirms that he is not having a fever dream, and the creature is real. It’s a dragon. There is a miniature dragon sitting on the sideline of their basketball court and his entire basketball team is petting it. Petting it. Casually. Like it’s a house pet. It flops its head backwards at an angle that should cause spinal damage, and stares at Kagami like it knows. Its round blue eyes survey him curiously. Kagami stares it down, rooted to the spot, his gaze flicking to the way the dragon’s tongue sticks out ever-so-slightly. Kagami frowns and swallows a nervous laugh. It’ll be fine, he thinks, and stomps off to change, giving the dragon a wide berth.

The next week, the dragon is still there. It’s curled in Kuroko’s lap, its head resting in the crook of his arm. Some might go so far as to call the scene cute, but Kagami is not inclined to do so.
“Kuroko,” he says firmly. Kuroko lifts his head and puts down the book he’s reading.
“Yes, Kagami-kun?”
“You- know there’s something in your lap?” Kagami asks, pointing a finger at the dragon. He’s far from composed, but it stands to reason that a normal human might be upset at finding a friend of theirs cuddled up with a mythological creature.
“I do. I think Nigou will stay here until I can find him a home. I don’t think it’s right to just leave him,” Kuroko tells Kagami, gently stroking Nigou’s head. Nigou closes his eyes and presses up into the touch, clearly at ease in his new surroundings. His tail swishes back and forth, calm as can be. Kagami continues to look horrified, but he’s not really one to argue with Kuroko. He vows to address the matter at another time, and goes to eat a snack instead.

And so, Nigou stays. Kagami isn’t okay with the idea. He likely won’t ever be. However, all things considered, he’s seen much stranger things on the basketball court than just a pet dragon, and if he can accept those...well, he can sure as hell accept Nigou.

(It doesn’t change the fact that he’s still annoyed when the stupid dragon begins hoarding the team’s cell phones and he has to fetch his using a broom from the equipment closet after practice each day.)

That is so VERY PRECIOUS. I love your description of the dragon hoarding cellphones!

Kagami's disbelief at how CHILL everyone is with this is priceless.
