Bonus Round 1: AUs

AUs

SASO 2017 is over, but this round is perpetually open to new fills (no new prompts).


This popular round is back once again! To begin this year's SASO, we encourage you to let your mind run wild with alternate ideas and settings.


Please read this whole post before commenting to ensure that your team gets the most points possible. (There are changes from last year!)

RULES
  • Submit prompts by commenting to this post with an alternate universe idea, along with a ship from one of our nominated fandoms. There's a comment template below for your convenience.
    • Your prompt MUST include some kind of relationship. (This is not the sports anime gen olympics.) Platonic relationships are indicated by an "&" between the names (e.g., Izumi & Sakaeguchi). Non-platonic relationships use "/" (e.g., Izumi/Sakaeguchi). Please don't say "Any pairing," either!
  • An AU can be a canon divergence, e.g. "what if [character] was the Team Captain instead of the canon captain character?", or a completely different setting altogether, e.g., pop idol AU, coffee shop AU, superheroes AU, etc.
  • Fill prompts by leaving a responding comment to the prompt with your newly-created work.
  • Remember to follow the general bonus round rules, outlined here.

  • 400 words (prose)
  • 400px by 400px (art)
  • 14 lines (poetry)
There is no max work cap.

SCORING
These numbers apply to your team as a whole, not each individual teammate. Make as many prompts/fills as you want!

For prompts: 5 points each (maximum of 50 prompt points per team per round)

For fills:
First 4 fills by any member of your team: 20 points each
Fills 5-10: 15 points each
Fills 11-20: 5 points each
Fills 21-50: 2 points each
Fills 51+: 1 point each

All scored content must be created new for this round.

The first time Kagami sees Himuro in years, his heart gets caught in his throat because he's pretty sure that his brother, in all but blood, is about to get crushed to death by a giant purple demon.

"Tatsuya—" he cries, about to start running to help, only to be tripped up. "Oh my god, Kuroko, can you please control your dog—dragon—dog, I'm going to step on his tail and he's going to bite me."

"He's only trying to stop you from embarrassing yourself," Kuroko speaks up from beside him, much closer than Kagami expected him to be, causing him to stagger backwards. "Besides. That fighter is not in trouble. I believe that's his buddy monster."

Monster is definitely the right word for it, Kagami thinks to himself. Whatever kind of buddy monster Himuro's found himself, they tower over everyone else. He's pretty sure that they're double Kuroko's height.

"Oh," Kuroko blinks. "I think that's Murasakibara-kun."

"You know that guy?" Kagami asks disbelievingly. "That tall demon with Tatsuya?"

"…Taiga." Himuro notices him too, once he's close enough. He stands there, his core deck case shaped like a basketball and tucked under one arm.

"Look," Kuroko says, glancing at the one tucked into the bag slung over Kagami's shoulder. "You match."

"We do," Kagami says quietly, noticing the way Himuro is still wearing his ring on a necklace around his neck. He wonders what Himuro will say next. Perhaps he'll just reiterate the last conversation they had, in their early teens, Himuro's punch still stinging on Kagami's cheek, his expression full of fury, denouncing the same brotherhood they both still wear around their necks like burdens that weigh nothing and everything, all at once.

"What's this?" the demon behind Himuro says, resting a hand on his shoulder and leaning over him to take a closer look at Kagami. "Muro-chin, this guy has a ring like yours. Do I have to fight him?"

Kagami frowns up at him, but Himuro only smiles.

"Sit tight, Atsushi. You just might."

"You have a buddy now," Kagami says, not knowing how else to reply.

"This is Demon Lord, Murasakibara." Himuro gestures at him, the smile on his face turning fond. "It took a lot of persuading to get him to reduce his size for the human world."

"You mean he's even bigger than that?" Kagami asks, his eyes going wide.

"Murasakibara-kun is the biggest demon I've ever met," Kuroko says from beside Kagami. "He's not the type to do as anyone says. Himuro-san must be very impressive if he's been chosen as a buddy."

"Oh. You have one too." Himuro doesn't sound surprised by this; if anything, he sounds bitter. He bounces the ball tucked under his arm. "Why don't we have a quick fight, then? To see how much we've both grown."

"Kuroko?" Kagami asks, turning to his side and watching as his buddy transforms into his true form.

Stealth Dragon Knight, Kuroko, changes his regular human clothes to light armour instead, the small puppy by his feet turning into a black and white dragon that he perches on.

"Kuro-chin, is that you?" Murasakibara asks. "I almost didn't see you there. I'm going to crush you without even realising."

Kuroko shakes his head. "I believe in Kagami-kun. We're going to win this."
