Bonus Round 1: AUs

SASO 2017 is over, but this round is perpetually open to new fills (no new prompts).


This popular round is back once again! To begin this year's SASO, we encourage you to let your mind run wild with alternate ideas and settings.


Please read this whole post before commenting to ensure that your team gets the most points possible. (There are changes from last year!)

RULES

• Submit prompts by commenting to this post with an alternate universe idea, along with a ship from one of our nominated fandoms. There's a comment template below for your convenience.
  • Your prompt MUST include some kind of relationship. (This is not the sports anime gen olympics.) Platonic relationships are indicated by an "&" between the names (e.g., Izumi & Sakaeguchi). Non-platonic relationships use "/" (e.g., Izumi/Sakaeguchi). Please don't say "Any pairing," either!
• An AU can be a canon divergence, e.g. "what if [character] was the Team Captain instead of the canon captain character?", or a completely different setting altogether, e.g., pop idol AU, coffee shop AU, superheroes AU, etc.
• Fill prompts by leaving a responding comment to the prompt with your newly-created work.
• Remember to follow the general bonus round rules, outlined here.

• 400 words (prose)
• 400px by 400px (art)
• 14 lines (poetry)

SCORING

These numbers apply to your team as a whole, not each individual teammate. Make as many prompts/fills as you want!

For prompts: 5 points each (maximum of 50 prompt points per team per round)

For fills:
First 4 fills by any member of your team: 20 points each
Fills 5-10: 15 points each
Fills 11-20: 5 points each
Fills 21-50: 2 points each
Fills 51+: 1 point each

All scored content must be created new for this round.

“Alright, I’ll admit it.” Karin sees the glint of her teeth more than the smile itself, sharp like the laugh that cuts the air between them as it escapes them. “You’re good, granny. I did underestimate you.”

Karin bares her own teeth back, blunt and bloody, the taste mixing with the pleasure of having put a cheeky brat in her place.

“So what now? You take me to your car? I go to jail?”

“Oh, don’t even try to talk your way out of this.” She pulls at her arm with no delicacy, Natsuo’s entire body digging back into the ground as the tendons on her shoulder complained, a bone threatening to give under the weight. She spits a curse mixed with her own blood, half reflex, one hundred percent amusement.

“I’m not that type”, she huffs, haughty even from her place on the ground. “But I’m not the inmate type either.”

“I didn’t ask.”

“So let’s play a game.” She starts turning towards her, without a regard from the arm in her grasp nor the knees she could easily shatter if she didn’t behave. Karin withstood before her arrogance, recognizing this for the challenge to her character it was.

She withstood until she felt her shoulder start to give, and her will wavered as she adjusted the key she had her in with a shameless lack of hesitation.

“Hah…”, came the triumphant boast, preened up in a distinctive lack of pain. The positions remained, but the punk underneath her was suddenly looking at her from above her nose, like she had earned back some leverage. “You’re good. I wanna see what else you have to teach me.”

She keeps her words, pinning the other one under the weight of her hold, of her gaze. The girl (a brat, really) tosses her head back carelessly, hair pooling dark and heavy behind her, a black carpet that stank of gunpowder.

“See, if I go with you I’ll either end up behind the bars, where I’ll get into all the fights I can until I either riot my way out or get put into seclusion— or I’ll be up for execution.”

Karin goes to say something but Natsuo beats her to it, clicks her tongue. Behaving wasn’t an option.

“So why don’t we keep fighting? Let’s fight until either the sun goes up or whoever’s covering your back so poorly finally asses themselves to ask if I managed to murder you and comes snooping around. No weapons, so you know I won’t try anything, no holding back.

The only rule will be that if you get an opening finishing blow, you land it.”

Karin actually laughs at that, the hutch she had on the game that was being proposed just confirmed.
“Kid, there’s other ways to beg for death. I play by street rules, you know?”

“I know that very well, actually. That’s why you fight so well. That’s why I’m in this position, and why this will be worth it.”

Karin whistles. Cheeky, amusing. The kind that can’t have sense beat into once the adrenaline gets pumping and the ego grows wild.

Familiar, if she’s honest.

“It’s amazing how you think you can go around setting the rules like that, when I’m the one in control here.” She says at least. In one swift movement, she rolls over the other, hauling her over her shoulder and tossing her far with the same care you’d use for a sack of potatos. To her credit, Natsuo actually manages to best said sack by managing to roll over her feet and not fall on her face. “Get on your feet and open your ears, since I’m only saying this once:

You show me the best you can do.

And if I’m impressed, I will offer you something better than anything you’ve mentioned yet.”
