SASO 2017 is over, but this round is perpetually open to new fills (no new prompts).

This popular round is back once again! To begin this year's SASO, we encourage you to let your mind run wild with alternate ideas and settings.

Please read this whole post before commenting to ensure that your team gets the most points possible. (There are changes from last year!)

RULES

Submit prompts by commenting to this post with an alternate universe idea, along with a ship from one of our nominated fandoms. There's a comment template below for your convenience.
- Your prompt MUST include some kind of relationship. (This is not the sports anime gen olympics.) Platonic relationships are indicated by an "&" between the names (e.g., Izumi & Sakaeguchi). Non-platonic relationships use "/" (e.g., Izumi/Sakaeguchi). Please don't say "Any pairing," either!
An AU can be a canon divergence, e.g. "what if [character] was the Team Captain instead of the canon captain character?", or a completely different setting altogether, e.g., pop idol AU, coffee shop AU, superheroes AU, etc.
Fill prompts by leaving a responding comment to the prompt with your newly-created work.

SCORING

These numbers apply to your team as a whole, not each individual teammate. Make as many prompts/fills as you want!

For prompts: 5 points each (maximum of 50 prompt points per team per round)

For fills:
First 4 fills by any member of your team: 20 points each
Fills 5-10: 15 points each
Fills 11-20: 5 points each
Fills 21-50: 2 points each
Fills 51+: 1 point each

All scored content must be created new for this round.

There's something to be said about reunions, and not a whole lot of good things at that. Really, he should've gotten used to them from how often Akashi orchestrated all of them 'running into each other' in Tokyo, even well into their university years, but being stuck together with people who knew about your deepest and darkest secrets from childhood has lost its novelty long ago. They're his friends or whatever, but he doesn't miss them that often, or at least, not as much as he'd admit.

A reunion for the entirety of his middle school grade was pushing it though. There was no excuse for Teiko to spread its frightening reach across the globe to summon its best and brightest back into its (cursed) gymnasiums, and no excuse for any of them to answer the call.

Naturally, maybe because they've all got some kind of masochistic streak, there they all were anyway, feeling far too big and too damn grown for a place that used to loom so large.

This place used to be their whole world, and thank fucking god it isn't anymore.

Especially since it's currently teeming with the undead, some of them—most of them—comprised of former classmates.

"Got any ideas, Tetsu?" says Aomine as the two of them, somehow, find some refuge in an empty classroom, though it won't be empty soon enough, even if they are on the highest floor. The screams and the groaning (god, the groaning) are getting louder by the minute.

"No," replies Kuroko, far too calm than the situation warrants. "I've never had to fight those before."

Aomine snorts. "That makes two of us." When he draws his gun from its holster, Kuroko's eyes don't widen, but his voice does turn admonishing.

"That's a dangerous weapon, Aomine-kun."

"You're full of bright observations today, aren't you?"

"What were you thinking," continues Kuroko, "bringing that to a school?"

"I'm a cop, it's what I do. Anyway, aren't you supposed to be happy we got something to arm ourselves with?"

"I am."

Aomine looks at him, still as deadpan as ever. It should piss him off, but Kuroko's always been too absurd to be mad at for very long. A smirk flits along Aomine's lips before he turns serious again. "Yeah, sure."

Silence settles over them for a while, and the noises outside and below them fill it none too gracefully. Aomine can't stand it for very long."

"You think everyone else is all right?" His thoughts flicker to Satsuki, and the very notion of never seeing her again—or worse, seeing her again when she isn't longer herself.

Kuroko's tone is muted in his response, as if he'd been thinking of it all this time, but it had only turned real when spoken aloud. "I hope so."

"Me too. I wouldn't want to go up against a zombie Murasakibara. Forget the size and strength, his appetite's gonna be the real kicker."

It's not funny at all, and Aomine regrets it the moment it leaves his mouth, but Kuroko seems to have run out of reprimands for tonight.

"Aomine-kun," he says, as they hear the din getting nearer. "Earlier tonight, you said you'd take me out for a drink after the reunion ends."

Aomine pauses, even if he can't afford it. "Yeah?"

"I'm holding you to it."

The groaning seems to have reached their floor, but all Aomine can think about now is the face Kuroko would make if he had to drink anything other than his beloved milkshakes. Not seeing it is no longer an option.

"Okay, Tetsu," he says as they get up on their feet and walk backwards, soundlessly, to put distance between themselves and the entrance. He aims his gun at the door.

"I'll take you out for that drink."

Oh God, this is so good??? I am so happy to have you keep filling these, not gonna lie. Aomine casually bringing a gun to his middle school reunion is exactly the kind of foolishness I'd expect from him. And Kuroko's game is as smooth as ever. I LOVE IT SO????

When Aomine first heard about the middle school reunion, he had thought that it was some plot of Akashi’s. Who held middle school reunions?!

Now that he was being chased through the hallway by zombies, he was positive that it was some plot of Akashi’s. Who else would be responsible for zombies?!

A low, horrible moan left Kise’s mouth as he lurched forwards with startling rapidity given that one of his feet ended in a stump. Aomine was pretty sure he’d seen Murasakibara popping a painted toenail into his mouth like a grape earlier. As he ran, he cast a quick look back at Kise’s remaining foot. Yeah. Painted toenails. Must be a model thing.

He poured on more speed, trying desperately to get away from the zombies that seemed to be lurking in every room and corridor. The only good thing that could be said was that zombies didn’t seem to be able to get into the Zone; the Generation of Miracles made for terrifyingly quick, strong zombies without that and honestly, when Aomine stopped to think about it, it wasn’t a surprise that the school reunion had been overrun so quickly.

He wasn’t going to stop though. He wasn’t going to stop running, he wasn’t going to stop searching for safety or at least a corner of the school where his cell signal worked and he was definitely not going to stop being grateful that Momoi had had a stomach ache and been unable to attention.

He rounded a corner, slammed a basketball into a caterer’s face (his head popped right off like a wine work) and kept running. When something grabbed his elbow and yanked sideways, he spun to instinctively attack even as part of him questioned how anything could’ve gotten so close to him without being noticed.

“It’s me,” Kuroko said quietly, face tilted up and utterly clean of any blood. “Come on. I can use my Misdirection Overflow to keep you safe for a few minutes. The zombies don’t notice me. Follow me - the kitchens haven’t been touched and the window looks out onto the car park. You can climb out and drive away. Get help.”

“What about you?” Aomine asked, keeping a tight hold on Kuroko’s shoulder as Kuroko led him through the hallways. As promised, none of the zombies even looked at him as they lurched about from side to side.

Kuroko didn’t answer until they were in the empty kitchen. The large glass windows over the stove were meant to air out the room but now they provided a perfect escape for Aomine.

“I need to see if there’s anyone else I can rescue, Aomine.” For a second, Kuroko’s lips touched Aomine’s cheek and then he turned to return to the madness of carnage. “Don’t come back for me. Get as far away as you can.”

Oh no, Kiiiiiiise. I know I brought this on myself, but this was so much fun. Aomine is the final girl! Kuroko is so noble! ♥

I love zombie AUs so much. So very much. They are my JAM. You should totally do the same prompt with a different pairing (or a platonic pairing) if you want to see more of this because I could write an entire freakin' series just about the Worst Middle School Reunion ever.

AOMINE IS LITERALLY THE FINAL GIRL OMG. Also I love Kise and I promise I didn't zombify him out of malice.
