Bonus Round 1: AUs
SASO 2017 is over, but this round is perpetually open to new fills (no new prompts).
Please read this whole post before commenting to ensure that your team gets the most points possible. (There are changes from last year!)
RULES
- Submit prompts by commenting to this post with an alternate universe idea, along with a ship from one of our nominated fandoms. There's a comment template below for your convenience.
- Your prompt MUST include some kind of relationship. (This is not the sports anime gen olympics.) Platonic relationships are indicated by an "&" between the names (e.g., Izumi & Sakaeguchi). Non-platonic relationships use "/" (e.g., Izumi/Sakaeguchi). Please don't say "Any pairing," either!
- An AU can be a canon divergence, e.g. "what if [character] was the Team Captain instead of the canon captain character?", or a completely different setting altogether, e.g., pop idol AU, coffee shop AU, superheroes AU, etc.
- Fill prompts by leaving a responding comment to the prompt with your newly-created work.
- Remember to follow the general bonus round rules, outlined here.

“Not like that!” Kise called out from his side of the stage. “And your tail’s too floppy!”
“Of all the songs you could’ve drawn, it had to be this one?” Oikawa muttered bitterly as he stalked over so that Kise could fix his tail again.
It was easy for Kise to be confident, even when he was dressed in a ridiculous outfit with cat ears and tail. He was a model! He was probably used to this sort of humiliation! Oikawa, on the other hand, felt like a cross between a furry and a child dressed up for Halloween.
Kise was in zero danger of elimination from Broduce but for himself, Oikawa wasn’t quite as sure.
“Of all the partners you could’ve drawn, you drew me,” Kise said cheerfully, beaming down at Oikawa as he twitched the tail’s wires to try to make it less limp. “Isn’t that lucky?”
It was, Oikawa had to admit. Even if the song was ridiculous, Kise had the right sort of charm and energy to pull it off. Performing with him would be considerably easier than if Oikawa had drawn one of the other contestants.
“Show me how to do the paw thing again,” Oikawa said, turning around when Kise was done.
“Cutie Panther!” Kise said promptly, holding his hands up with the palms out and the fingers bent inwards like claws. He gave a little jump, then smiled brightly enough that even Oikawa was a little dazzled.
“Mew mew - cutie panther!” Oikawa copied him as best as he could, then gave a little wriggle of his butt to make his tail twitch. He playfully pawed at Kise’s chest, keeping both hands still in their claw form, then sang, “My prey is you!”
Kise laughed, “That’s really good! Maybe we should incorporate that into our routine. U’s always faces the audience instead of singing to each other but since there are only two of us instead of three, we could make it a duet.”
Oikawa considered that suggestion.
On one hand, they’d definitely get points for innovation and a certain section of their fanbase would love to see two attractive men singing a ‘yandere’ love song to each other.
On the other hand, he’d be on national TV, singing a love song to Kise. The performance would no doubt be on YouTube within minutes and he knew Iwaizumi watched every episode as it was aired.
(But even if he lost and was eliminated, he’d have gotten to sing a love song to Kise.)
“Let’s do it,” he said and mirrored Kise’s grin.

It's my favorite song of u's (which is how they spell it in show, with the Greek symbol) and THEY WEAR ACTUAL CAT TAILS AND DO THE CAT PAW THING and the idea of Oikawa doing that just KILLED me so I had to use that song for them, I had to. XD

Tooru sighs as he stands up again, sweat dripping down his face and legs wobbling from the constant working.
Dance is definitely not his strong suit, but he’s gotten this far and he’ll be disappointed with himself if he doesn’t put on a good performance. It’s his job as the leader of the group to set an example, but he takes a look at all of the weary faces just begging to sleep and he sighs, dismissing everyone except the voted center of the group.
He’s acutely aware of the fact that they’re still being filmed, so he calmly walks over to the blond man still sitting on the floor and takes up the spot next to him, a small huff of relief as his legs relax against the cool wood.
Tooru looks over at the other, notices that even drenched with sweat, Ryouta still manages to glow under the unflattering white lights of the practice room. He can tell why he’s kept a steady hold on the first seat-- not only is he handsome, but he can dance like no other and capture the heart of anyone with his cheery personality. Tooru’s almost jealous, after coming in second place during the first elimination and only a few hundred votes separating them.
But he has a desire to win; he’s greedy, and he won’t let even Kise Ryouta stand in between him and being the nation’s center.
“Look.” Tooru starts in Japanese, grateful that the two were the only Japanese contestants on the show. He hesitates for a moment as the camera crew start to pack up, then takes a deep breath. “I know you’re the best dancer here, but you’re going to have to work with us a little. We have a few lower ranked group members, and I know the center shines the most, but you can’t neglect the others.”
It’s the most emotional he’s ever gotten on the show, and Tooru rests a bandaged hand on Ryouta’s shoulder before getting up and heading to his room.
He’s woken up by the blaring sound of “It’s Me” blasting through the speakers and immediately shoves his head under his pillow until even that is rudely taken away from him. Tooru is about to snap at the person, image be damned, when he sees the bright blond hair through hazy eyes and sits up.
Ryouta’s laugh sounds like bells, and it makes Tooru even angrier as he takes his pillow back and gets out of the bed.
When he finally makes it to the practice room, he can hear the music from outside the doors, the faint beats of Girls’ Generation’s “Mr. Mr.” slipping through the cracks. The scene inside, however, shocks him, and he has to stand by the doorway for a few seconds to compose himself.
“Kise Ryouta, actually helping other people? Did what I say get to you?” Tooru’s cheeky as he comes to nudge Ryouta’s shoulder, a smug grin firmly fixed on his lips throughout the practice.
Tooru can’t help but admire the knife-like precision with which Ryouta dances, and he follows along, helping the other members of the group along the way. By the end of the practice, he’s proud of his rag tag team and deems them ready for trainer evaluations.
He dismisses everyone early, and pretends not to notice how warm Ryouta’s hand is when it brushes against his as the blond walks past.
The following days pass in a flurry, and before Tooru can even realize it, the night of the performance comes. He wouldn’t call himself a nervous person-- he works great under pressure, but there’s something about tonight him that leaves him feeling jittery, his fingers tingling as he paces the dressing room.
A familiar warm hand presses against his back, and he can’t breathe.
“You’ll be fine.” Tooru looks up and wishes he didn’t. It was his idea to go with suits with pink coat jackets, of course, every inch of him striving to live up to Girls’ Generation’s standard, but he hadn’t expected the other to pull it off so well.
He doesn’t know why, since it seemed that Ryouta could pull off anything.
Not wanting Ryouta to have the upper hand, Tooru stands and leans in to whisper in his ear.
“I know I’ll be fine, but will you?” He pulls away and winks before joining the rest of his team, adrenaline coursing through his veins as he waits for their team to be called up to the stage.
