Bonus Round 1: AUs

SASO 2017 is over, but this round is perpetually open to new fills (no new prompts).


This popular round is back once again! To begin this year's SASO, we encourage you to let your mind run wild with alternate ideas and settings.


Please read this whole post before commenting to ensure that your team gets the most points possible. (There are changes from last year!)

RULES

• Submit prompts by commenting to this post with an alternate universe idea, along with a ship from one of our nominated fandoms. There's a comment template below for your convenience.
  • Your prompt MUST include some kind of relationship. (This is not the sports anime gen olympics.) Platonic relationships are indicated by an "&" between the names (e.g., Izumi & Sakaeguchi). Non-platonic relationships use "/" (e.g., Izumi/Sakaeguchi). Please don't say "Any pairing," either!
• An AU can be a canon divergence, e.g. "what if [character] was the Team Captain instead of the canon captain character?", or a completely different setting altogether, e.g., pop idol AU, coffee shop AU, superheroes AU, etc.
• Fill prompts by leaving a responding comment to the prompt with your newly-created work.
• Remember to follow the general bonus round rules, outlined here.

SCORING

These numbers apply to your team as a whole, not each individual teammate. Make as many prompts/fills as you want!

For prompts: 5 points each (maximum of 50 prompt points per team per round)

For fills:
First 4 fills by any member of your team: 20 points each
Fills 5-10: 15 points each
Fills 11-20: 5 points each
Fills 21-50: 2 points each
Fills 51+: 1 point each

All scored content must be created new for this round.

I LOVE THIS IDEA. And I didn't realize it was for you, aaaaaah, um, I hope there is enough comfort in this one? I just really like friends sticking up for each other so that's kinda what took over the fic and idk if that's what you wanted or if you wanted something more like Mihashi never ever gets bullied at all and is awesome from the get-go and -- yeah gonna shut up now, I hope it's acceptable.

“You’re losing this for us!” Hatake snapped at Mihashi, angrily stalking over to him. The rest of the players in the dugout craned their heads to look at the upcoming confrontation but nobody moved. Mihashi only got his place because of nepotism and it was only Miyuki’s catching that made him seem even halfway decent. If Hatake was going to say what they all thought, they wouldn’t stop him.

“You and your damn pitching! You’re useless!” Hakate reached out to shove Mihashi back, his face hot and red with anger even though he could see tears start to well up in Mihashi’s eyes.

A hand snapped around his wrist and another hand planted itself in the middle of Hatake’s chest as Miyuki stepped between them.

“Shut up,” Miyuki said briefly. Behind his visor, his eyes were narrowed and hard. “Mihashi’s doing fine. You’re making him nervous.”

“He’s doing shit!” Hakate practically screamed at the other catcher.

“No, you are,” Miyuki snapped. “Every single game I catch for Mihashi, we win. He takes orders well, he knows how to control his throws and he’s hell to deal with for batters. The problem isn’t him, it’s you. You’re a pathetic excuse of a catcher and once my wrist is better, I’m going to make sure that you never catch for Mihashi again.”

He raised his voice, making sure the rest of the team heard him.

“Mihashi’s the best player on his team. If you don’t support him, you’re losing the game for him. Catch the damn balls, give him the right signs and stop breaking his confidence.” The words weren’t suggestions but orders, Miyuki turning to the quietly crying Mihashi.

Even when he spoke to the pitcher, his voice wasn’t any gentler. He wanted to make sure that the whole team knew what his opinion was – and knew to never, ever upset Mihashi again.

“You’ve pitched perfect games with me. Hatake’s an incompetent ass but you’re still the same pitcher. Imagine what I’d call for and throw it. Ignore his signs.” Miyuki rested his hand on Mihashi’s shoulder and squeezed.

“You’re better than he is.” He put every ounce of conviction he could into the words, staring down at Mihashi.

As a reward for his efforts, Mihashi sniffed, nodded, then threw his arms around Miyuki in a tight, snot-filled hug.

Ew.

Miyuki gingerly patted Mihashi’s head and looked around the dugout, staring each of the other players down.

Nobody could meet his eyes (and nobody EVER yelled at Mihashi again).

Awwww heck, I thought I replied to this already.

ANYWAY, thank you for writing this for me, Damien!! I'm so charmed that you barely daiya but you keep taking crossover prompts that include Miyuki because he's a shit and also my fave, and Miyuki being harsh for the sake of the team, to set an example, really is a very "Miyuki" thing.

(as an aside, I don't think there are a lot of oofuri fans who like hurt no comfort with Mihashi, but sticking up for him against bullies? Is great. I'd avoid writing upset Mihashi with no comfort or come-uppance for the cause of it if you wanna be a people pleaser but mmmmmm thoughtful abuse narrative stuff for oofuri can be so good? You should let me show you some of the fills from last year.)
