sportsanime | Bonus Round 1: AUs

SASO 2017 is over, but this round is perpetually open to new fills (no new prompts).

This popular round is back once again! To begin this year's SASO, we encourage you to let your mind run wild with alternate ideas and settings.

Please read this whole post before commenting to ensure that your team gets the most points possible. (There are changes from last year!)

RULES

Submit prompts by commenting to this post with an alternate universe idea, along with a ship from one of our nominated fandoms. There's a comment template below for your convenience.
- Your prompt MUST include some kind of relationship. (This is not the sports anime gen olympics.) Platonic relationships are indicated by an "&" between the names (e.g., Izumi & Sakaeguchi). Non-platonic relationships use "/" (e.g., Izumi/Sakaeguchi). Please don't say "Any pairing," either!
An AU can be a canon divergence, e.g. "what if [character] was the Team Captain instead of the canon captain character?", or a completely different setting altogether, e.g., pop idol AU, coffee shop AU, superheroes AU, etc.
Fill prompts by leaving a responding comment to the prompt with your newly-created work.

SCORING

These numbers apply to your team as a whole, not each individual teammate. Make as many prompts/fills as you want!

For prompts: 5 points each (maximum of 50 prompt points per team per round)

For fills:
First 4 fills by any member of your team: 20 points each
Fills 5-10: 15 points each
Fills 11-20: 5 points each
Fills 21-50: 2 points each
Fills 51+: 1 point each

All scored content must be created new for this round.

Kaburagi's jaw falls on the floor even before Teshima finishes speaking. "What?" He gapes, then glances rapidly between Teshima and Miki. "A girl can't be captain!"

Teshima patiently sets down his notebook as everyone in the club room turns to stare at Kaburagi. "Why not? Sohoku is a co-ed team."

"But we have more boys than girls!" Kaburagi says, as his brain finally catches up with him. He flushes under the combined stink eye from Teshima, Imaizumi, and Naruko. "I just think-"

"You don't think," Naruko cuts in with half a loaf of bread in his mouth. "Or you wouldn't have spoken at all, Showoff!"

Imaizumi chooses to reason with logic. "Kanzaki is the most qualified, technically and theoretically."

"And she's really nice!" Onoda chimes in, to which Aoyagi nods.

"I'm also sitting right here," Miki adds with some humor in her voice. When the boys turn to look at her, she waves her fingers back. There's still a smudge of grease on her cheeks from maintaining Aoyagi's bike earlier. "If you think I'm unfit for the captaincy-"

"No!" Kaburagi stands up, then promptly sits down. "I just... Um... Sorry. You're really cool, Kanzaki-san."

Teshima waits a beat before continuing. "Now that we've settled on Kanzaki becoming the captain, we need to discuss the vice captaincy."

Unsurprisingly, this sets off a round of arguments between Imaizumi and Naruko. ("We need someone flashy and talented like me!" "Absolutely not. I've known Kanzaki the longest. We work well together. Everyone knows-" "Everyone knows you're lame and uncool!") By the time Teshima ends the meeting, even Aoyagi looks annoyed.

It's not until the other boys exit the club room that Teshima leans back against the wall.

"Tired?" Miki asks with a smile as she flips through his notes. She's wearing a pink shirt today over her spandex shorts, her hair cascading out of its usual ponytail and the familiar fishbone clip since practice ended early. "That was easier than I expected."

Teshima closes his eyes. He can feel another headache coming. "It should've been easier."

Miki just hums as she closes the file cabinet.

"Imaizumi is right," Teshima tells her, opening his eyes. "You are the most qualified member of this team. You understand our strengths and weaknesses better than I, or maybe Kinjou-san ever did. As an all-rounder, you may not be as fast as Imaizumi, but you posses more leadership capacity than all of them comb-" He stops when Miki laughs, her voice ringing pleasantly in his ear.

"You don't need to flatter me," Miki says lightly. "We're already dating."

"That doesn't make you any less qualified," Teshima adds, then pauses when she tugs him up from the wall. "It's the truth."

Her eyes light up at this. "I know. I'll miss you next year."

Teshima knows that he'll probably miss her more than she'll miss him. It still boggles him, sometimes, how someone so talented in every aspect can like someone mediocre like him. It's not the first time this thought has flashed across Teshima's mind. Hajime would tell him to believe in himself. Miki would tell him to believe in her, who believes in him.

"You're thinking too much," Miki says softly. "Practice ended. Let's go get some tea. Earl Grey-- your favorite."

"Sure," Teshima says, when in reality Miki is his favorite.
