Bonus Round 2: Tic-Tac-Toe

Tic-Tac-Toe

SASO 2017 is over, but this round is perpetually open to new fills (no new prompts).

Get three in a row! That's the goal of this bonus round. Inspired by a fanwork event type called kink bingo, this round encourages you to create and fill out themed prompt cards.

Please read this whole post before commenting to ensure that your team gets the most points possible. There's a lot of text here, but if you read carefully and follow the instructions step by step, you will be okay.

RULES
Please refer to the first comment thread of this post for an example of how this round works.

PROMPTING

  1. Select a ship to create your prompt card about. Platonic relationships are indicated by an "&" between the names (e.g., Haruki & Kazuma). Non-platonic relationships use "/" (e.g., Haruki/Kazuma). Please don't say "Any pairing," either!

  2. Visit this card generator.
    • Here is a visual guide to using it.
    • The large text box is where you can list prompts if you have your own ideas. Please list at least 9 prompts; you can list more if you want. (The generator says you need at least 24, but it's lying.) Single words or short phrases are better than sentences.
    • Otherwise, you can use the dropdown menu found right below it. Note: some of these prompts lists are NSFW. (NSFW prompts are a-ok as long as you tag for it.) If you don't like some of the options that appear in a prompt list, you can delete them.
    • Text prompts only, please. Also, each card square must be unique—don't list the same prompt 9 times.
    • In "Configuration Options," make sure you select 3x3 and (Normal prompt). This is the most important step!
    • Leave the tic-tac-toe card with its default colors, so everyone can read it clearly.
    • Click the "Create a bingo card" button.
    • Scroll down to see the card that was created for you. If you don't like the prompts it picked, you can reroll by clicking "Create a bingo card" again.
    • When you're satisfied, scroll further down the page until you see a textarea box full of HTML.
  3. Copy and paste the HTML from the box and into the body of your prompt comment, then post!

FILLING

Fill prompts by selecting an individual square to create fanwork for, then leaving a responding comment to the prompt with your newly-created work. (Optional:) If you can fill three squares from a prompt in a horizontal, vertical, or diagonal line, you get a tic-tac-toe (and an additional point bonus)! You can also just fill prompts as you please and get standard points.
  • Prompt squares are labeled as follows:
    A1 B1 C1
    A2 B2 C2
    A3 B3 C3
  • If you're trying for tic-tac-toe, you cannot combine squares into one fill. If your fill can satisfy multiple squares, pick the most relevant square: e.g., one square is sailing and another is pirates and you make a fill about pirates sailing, it's mostly pirates so put down the pirates square.
  • Each fill must stand alone as an individual piece, but all your fills can slot into a larger universe if you'd like.
  • You cannot fill a prompt square more than once, but you can fill every square on a tic tac toe card if you want to.
  • You cannot work with your teammates to get a tic-tac-toe. Only individually achieved tic-tac-toes get the bonus.
  • Multiple people can fill the same prompt square. You cannot "block" others from getting tic-tac-toe.
  • Remember to also follow the general bonus round rules, outlined here.
  • Here is a prompt/fill index for your convenience.

For prompts: 5 points for each tic-tac-toe card (maximum of 50 prompt points per team per round)

For fills:
First 4 fills by any member of your team: 20 points each
Fills 5-10: 15 points each
Fills 11-20: 5 points each
Fills 21-50: 2 points each
Fills 51+: 1 point each
Tic-tac-toe Bonus: 2 points each for the first 12 achieved by your team

All scored content must be created new for this round.

Etc.
If you're hunting through the prompts looking for what to fill, a good trick is to view top-level comments only (see the line of links below this post).

"So," Konoha sighed upon leaning himself to the wall. "Improved shiritori?"

"Yes!!" Bokuto answered enthusiastically. "It's basically the same as shiritori, but instead of exactly shiritori, you continue with the first word you think of!"

"That explanation doesn't make any sense," Kuroo snorted, somewhere between amusement and disbelief.

"I'm pretty sure the game you're thinking of is 'word association'," Akaashi said, deadpan as always.

"Yeah, that!!" Bokuto said, although Akaashi was pretty sure he wasn't paying attention to what he said 'yeah' to. "C'mon! The rain's not stopping soon, we might as well do some fun games while waiting!!"

Konoha shrugged, putting his smartphone back into his trousers' pocket. "Beats getting my phone wet, I guess."

Bokuto's eyes sparkled at answer, the same sparkles he then gave to Kuroo and Akaashi as well. Kuroo laughed a "sure" and Akaashi knew better than to say no, so he just sighed.

"Cool!!" He beamed cheerily, a beam that made Akaashi almost hold his arm just in case he started bouncing from excitement. "I'll start okay? Okay!" No one had answered yet, Bokuto— oh well. The other three moved closer slightly, as if it had been a call for them to gather around the owl head. "Hmmm... Let's see... Water!"

At the exact moment, all the three others had the same thing in mind: 'this guy's either extremely unpredictable or too simple for words, there's no in between.' Akaashi, however, also thought of something more important, "Is it my turn or Kuroo-san's turn now?"

"Hmm... Akaashi!! You go!"

The sophomore nodded slightly. "Fire."

"Passion," Konoha continued.

"Volleyball," Kuroo snickered.

"Everything!!!" Bokuto blurted, right arm moving in a spiking movement. The other three, whether they admit it or not, secretly smiled fondly.

"Universe," Akaashi, slightly turning his head to the next person. Konoha snorted.

"Love," he said with his usual fox-like smirk, but somehow slightly mysteriously. Kuroo raised an eyebrow, snickering with a questioning and judging look, but didn't press it any further.

"Dream," Kuroo responded innocently. It was then Konoha's turn to snicker.

"Cat," Bokuto answered, face serious all of a sudden, and everyone wondered if he had a bad dream about cats last night.

"Dog," Akaashi continued.

"Slob— fluffy," Konoha said, correcting himself.

"It's supposed to be the first word in your mind, Konoha-san," Akaashi deadpanned. Konoha laughed and waved his hand in front of his chest, mouthing, 'don't mind it, don't mind it.' Kuroo joined in chuckling for a bit before continuing the game,

"Cotton candy."

"Bed hair!" Bokuto said without missing a beat, catching the others off guard.

"Kuroo-san," Akaashi continued anyway, unsure. Kuroo looked like he wanted to protest, but wisely decided not to.

"Troublesome," Konoha said, grinning.

"Hey!" Kuroo finally voiced out a protest. "Bokuto," he continued anyway.

"Kuroo," Bokuto said with a smile. The others stared at him, blinking confusedly.

"Uh, you can't say the same word someone has said, Bokuto-san," Akaashi said instead, eyeing the other two players who looked as puzzled as he was.

"Oh! Uhhh... The awesomest!"

"Ah... Noah and the Whale," Akaashi said. Thankfully it was Konoha's turn next.

"Life Goes On," he replied with one of the band's song title.

"It's getting more than one word now!" Kuroo said, shaking his head slightly. "C'est la vie."

"You're only translating it..." Akaashi said, but Kuroo only grinned and shrugged.

"Kissing," Bokuto said, and this time someone had to ask.

"I'm sorry, kissing from c'est la vie?" Konoha raised an eyebrow.

"Well, c'est la vie, that's French, right?" For once he'd actually got something like this right. "And French makes me think of french fries, and there was a scene in the drama my mom was watching last night where the girl and the guy do a pocky kiss but with a french fry, so..."

"Okay," Konoha replied anticlimactically, regretting that he'd asked. 'At least think of french kiss,' was what everyone had in mind but no one voiced out.

"Lips," Akaashi said suddenly, and Konoha and Kuroo took a beat to realize that he was responding to the game.

"Oh— red," Konoha replied.

"Blood," Kuroo said, probably referring to Nekoma's cheesy pre-game speech.

"Date," Bokuto answered seriously, yet again making the other three blink.

"What the he— you know what, forget it," Konoha gave up. "Akaashi, go."

"Movies," Akaashi answered carefully.

"Popcorn," Konoha continued.

"Corn," Kuroo said.

"Kuroo— ah," Bokuto stopped himself, realizing what he'd said. "Wait we've done that before so—"

"No, no, wait, Bokuto," Kuroo said, his face looked like he was deciding between being confused or worried. "You keep... mentioning me."

"Hmm... Mountains!" he suddenly said cheerily, clasping his palms together before realizing that everyone was looking at him. He blinked. "Ah... what?"

"Kuroo was just saying you keep mentioning him," Konoha said. 'And a lot of cheesy words,' he added in his mind.

"Huh? Well... You said corn, it made me think of roosters, and Kuroo has a rooster head— huh..." Bokuto paused, eyebrows furrowing like he was thinking of something serious, and Kuroo was so curious that he let the comment about him being a rooster head aside. The owl head blinked, tilting his head to the side slightly. "Now that you said it, I do think a lot of Kuroo today! Or the past few days?"

"Uh... What?" Kuroo asked, secretly wishing no one would look his way for a while.

"I don't know! You're in my mind a lot lately! Like when I was watching the drama with mom yesterday, I kept thinking of you!" Bokuto said, upbeat, then added without missing a beat, "Oh, the rain's stopped now! Ooooh and the sun's out! We can go back! Let's go, guys!"

"Uhh, Kuroo." Konoha turned his head to the taller man sympathetically. Kuroo just stood there, staring at the boy already merrily running toward the setting sun. Akaashi, too, looked at the rival captain, and gave him a supportive nod before he jogged his way to his own captain. Konoha placed a hand over Kuroo's shoulder. "...You okay, man?"

"Yeah, just—" Kuroo started, looking aside as he covered his face with both of his hands. "—Just, get back without me, will ya? Tell Kai I'll be back in 15 minutes."

Konoha stared at the bedhead for a second before he formed a grin, and the pat on his shoulder became an encouraging soft punch. "Gotcha. At least be back before our match later, 'kay?"

"...Yeah," Kuroo answered weakly. He sighed shortly before he watched Konoha jogging away from him, joining Akaashi and the guy responsible for both his headache and the flutter in his heart right now.

Goddammit Bokuto.
