Bonus Round 2: Tic-Tac-Toe

Tic-Tac-Toe

SASO 2017 is over, but this round is perpetually open to new fills (no new prompts).

Get three in a row! That's the goal of this bonus round. Inspired by a fanwork event type called kink bingo, this round encourages you to create and fill out themed prompt cards.

Please read this whole post before commenting to ensure that your team gets the most points possible. There's a lot of text here, but if you read carefully and follow the instructions step by step, you will be okay.

RULES
Please refer to the first comment thread of this post for an example of how this round works.

PROMPTING

  1. Select a ship to create your prompt card about. Platonic relationships are indicated by an "&" between the names (e.g., Haruki & Kazuma). Non-platonic relationships use "/" (e.g., Haruki/Kazuma). Please don't say "Any pairing," either!

  2. Visit this card generator.
    • Here is a visual guide to using it.
    • The large text box is where you can list prompts if you have your own ideas. Please list at least 9 prompts; you can list more if you want. (The generator says you need at least 24, but it's lying.) Single words or short phrases are better than sentences.
    • Otherwise, you can use the dropdown menu found right below it. Note: some of these prompts lists are NSFW. (NSFW prompts are a-ok as long as you tag for it.) If you don't like some of the options that appear in a prompt list, you can delete them.
    • Text prompts only, please. Also, each card square must be unique—don't list the same prompt 9 times.
    • In "Configuration Options," make sure you select 3x3 and (Normal prompt). This is the most important step!
    • Leave the tic-tac-toe card with its default colors, so everyone can read it clearly.
    • Click the "Create a bingo card" button.
    • Scroll down to see the card that was created for you. If you don't like the prompts it picked, you can reroll by clicking "Create a bingo card" again.
    • When you're satisfied, scroll further down the page until you see a textarea box full of HTML.
  3. Copy and paste the HTML from the box and into the body of your prompt comment, then post!

FILLING

Fill prompts by selecting an individual square to create fanwork for, then leaving a responding comment to the prompt with your newly-created work. (Optional:) If you can fill three squares from a prompt in a horizontal, vertical, or diagonal line, you get a tic-tac-toe (and an additional point bonus)! You can also just fill prompts as you please and get standard points.
  • Prompt squares are labeled as follows:
    A1 B1 C1
    A2 B2 C2
    A3 B3 C3
  • If you're trying for tic-tac-toe, you cannot combine squares into one fill. If your fill can satisfy multiple squares, pick the most relevant square: e.g., one square is sailing and another is pirates and you make a fill about pirates sailing, it's mostly pirates so put down the pirates square.
  • Each fill must stand alone as an individual piece, but all your fills can slot into a larger universe if you'd like.
  • You cannot fill a prompt square more than once, but you can fill every square on a tic tac toe card if you want to.
  • You cannot work with your teammates to get a tic-tac-toe. Only individually achieved tic-tac-toes get the bonus.
  • Multiple people can fill the same prompt square. You cannot "block" others from getting tic-tac-toe.
  • Remember to also follow the general bonus round rules, outlined here.
  • Here is a prompt/fill index for your convenience.

These numbers apply to your team as a whole, not each individual teammate. Make as many prompts/fills as you want!

For prompts: 5 points for each tic-tac-toe card (maximum of 50 prompt points per team per round)

For fills:
First 4 fills by any member of your team: 20 points each
Fills 5-10: 15 points each
Fills 11-20: 5 points each
Fills 21-50: 2 points each
Fills 51+: 1 point each
Tic-tac-toe Bonus: 2 points each for the first 12 achieved by your team

All scored content must be created new for this round.

Etc.
If you're hunting through the prompts looking for what to fill, a good trick is to view top-level comments only (see the line of links below this post).

i love these girls so much thank you for the prompts!

“You're so lucky, Shizuku-chan,” Chinatsu sighed as she changed into her practice clothes.

“How do you mean?” Shizuku started stretching. Chinatsu left the changing room and began to stretch as well.

“You're so talented, you know,” Chinatsu said. “Your following is amazing. So expressive. And you have a leader who cares about you. A real leader, I mean. Not like Tatara.” She wrinkled her nose, but the distaste she used to have when she talked about her leader wasn't there. They were getting along better. At least, they were for the moment.

“Kiyoharu and I have been partnered together since we were children,” Shizuku replied. “I know his dance.”

“You're so good, though; I heard you even could follow Tatara's lead!” Chinatsu shook her head at the thought, like it was ridiculous that someone like Shizuku could dance with someone like Tatara. As if one of the most startling moments of Shizuku's life was laughable.

“That was...a special occasion,” Shizuku replied. She tried not to think about the other time she'd partnered with someone who wasn't Kiyoharu-- the loss to Mako still stung.

“I didn't realize, before, how difficult following could be,” Chinatsu continued, leaning forward to place her forehead on the ground. “My old partner never let me follow, so I didn't know. I thought followers were all like dolls, and only the leader mattered.” She shot up, her face red. “I- I'm sorry! I didn't mean-”

“It's all right.” Shizuku smiled at Chinatsu, suddenly tired. “Lots of people think that. And scores are based on the leader, not the partner.”

“It's stupid,” Chinatsu said. “You can't dance without a partner, right? So partners should be evaluated for their own talent.” She stood.

“They are at the higher levels,” Shizuku reminded her. She wasn't sure why she said that. She agreed with Chinatsu. It would be nice if the judges saw her, really saw her, instead of just Kiyoharu. After all, she practiced just as hard. But it was safer the way things were. If their performance relied more on Kiyoharu rather than the both of them, then there was no need for her to feel as responsible if they lost.

But just because something was safe didn't mean it was right.

Chinatsu huffed and reached out a hand to pull Shizuku up.

“It's still stupid,” she said. “Although I guess I shouldn't be complaining, when I'm still so bad at following. Tatara is probably the only person who would accept a challenge like me. But Shizuku-chan, I wish everybody could see how beautiful your dance is.” Her cheeks were pink, and she looked away. It was charming, especially in a girl who seemed so sure of everything. Shizuku couldn't help smiling.

And then what Chinatsu said hit her. After all this time, she couldn't see what Shizuku saw-- that she was on her way to being a monster, to being a rival to Chiduru. Chinatsu thought Shizuku's dancing was beautiful (and it was, her pride insisted, it was beautiful. It's just that beauty wasn't enough), but couldn't see the strength and elegance in her own dance. True, when she and Tatara were off-balance, their dancing was a mess, but even that couldn't lessen Chinatsu's loveliness. And when they were in sync, Shizuku's heart raced.

How could Chinatsu not see it? She would soon be a true rival to Shizuku, and if she and Tatara ever found their balance, they would be a frightening pair.

“Thank you, Chii-chan,” Shizuku said. For all the things she wished she could improve on, to keep up with Kiyoharu and the monsters around her, she had never doubted her ability to hide her true feelings behind a smile.

“Sometimes I wish we could still dance in girl pairs after juniors,” said Chinatsu, half to herself. “I would have liked to dance with you properly.”

Shizuku thought about dancing with Chinatsu as her leader, that beautiful hair pulled back, her hands firm, her footsteps light. She thought about the two of them moving together as one. Winning competitions together.

Shizuku wasn't sure she would let Chinatsu follow, either. Maybe she was just as selfish as her old partner.

“Well, we can still dance in practice,” Shizuku replied, holding her arms out in a leader's hold. “Let's work on your following.”

Chinatsu smiled at her and got into position. Her back was strong under Shizuku's hand, and her hand was warm. Shizuku looked down at her, back arched gracefully, neck long and elegant. She thought about Chinatsu's dance, and Chiduru's. They'd both been leaders.

Maybe she would have let Chinatsu follow, after all.
