Bonus Round 3: FSTs

FSTs

SASO 2017 is over, but this round is perpetually open to new fills (no new prompts).

Profess your love for your favorite ships with the power of song! In this round, we ask you to create fan soundtracks and use them as inspiration for new fanwork.

Please read this whole post before commenting to ensure that your team gets the most points possible.

RULES
  • Submit prompts in the form of a short playlist (1-6 songs) and a ship from any of our nominated fandoms. Submit only the track listing and a link to where they can be listened to; the idea is for others to interpret what you present. You may also link to lyrics if you would like.
  • Your prompt MUST include some kind of relationship. Platonic relationships are indicated by an "&" between the names (e.g., Lilia & Sara). Non-platonic relationships use "/" (e.g., Lilia/Sara). Please don't say "Any pairing," either.
  • Create content based on the playlists of others! Fill prompts by leaving a responding comment to the prompt with your newly-created work.
  • Fills may be in any form you choose (except for another FST of course) as long as they are inspired by/fit the mood of the soundtrack they are filling for.
  • Remember to follow the general bonus round rules, outlined here.
  • Here is a prompt/fill index for your convenience.

SCORING
These numbers apply to your team as a whole, not each individual teammate. Make as many prompts/fills as you want!

For prompts: 5 points each (maximum of 50 prompt points per team per round)

For fills:
First 4 fills by any member of your team: 20 points each
Fills 5-10: 15 points each
Fills 11-20: 5 points each
Fills 21-50: 2 points each
Fills 51+: 1 point each

All scored content must be created new for this round.

Etc.
If you're hunting through the prompts looking for what to fill, a good trick is to view top-level comments only (see the line of links below this post).

Hi it’s me, DON’T WORRY IT’S NOT ACTUALLY THAT SAD and I tried again at the OT3 thing- also that first song is AMAZING, I’m going to have it stuck in my head forever.

***

Kyousuke never had any illusions about Tomoe returning his feelings. He knew from the start that the only thing Tomoe loved was running.

Tomoe would outrun the wind, outrun the past, outrun everyone that tried to hold him still. He was the essence of motion, he was something that would die if it ever stood still. Even when he couldn't run, he held himself like a bird poised for takeoff, as if he were perpetually caught in that moment before leaping.

Kyousuke could not help but love him. Kyousuke knew better than to love him.

"Don't," Heath advised, watching where Kyousuke's gaze lingered. Tomoe was stretched against a wall, all long, lean legs and elegant arms, his body arching with the easy grace of a ballerina's.

(Kyousuke couldn't help but look and Heath couldn't help but notice.)

"Don't what?" Kyousuke asked with a wry smile. "Don't watch our teammate stretch and try to learn from him?"

"You know that's not what I meant," Heath said mildly and a second later, when Kyousuke didn't argue, "And you know that's not what you were doing.

"He just..." Kyousuke's voice trailed off. How could any words made by humans describe Tomoe? Perhaps the birds had words for it, mingled in their songs. Perhaps they could sing of the glory of flight, of freedom, of the sensation of being able to outpace the world and run so fast that you felt your soul rise free from your body. A runner's high, it was called, an endorphin rush that was the gift of an overtaxed body, nothing more than a chemical reaction but Kyousuke loved it. Kyousuke clung to those moments of lightheadedness and freedom the way that he would cling to Tomoe if he weren't so sure that there was no faster way to make Tomoe run away from him.

"Yeah," Heath echoed, dry and a little sardonic. "He just makes you look at him."

Something about the tone of voice made Kyousuke look at Heath properly and take in the way Heath’s lingered on Tomoe - the regret in his words, the rough fiddling with a piece of paper between his fingers as if he couldn’t stay still either.

"...You too?" Kyousuke asked and Heath laughed, leaning over to clap Kyousuke on the shoulder.

"Might as well tell the waves not to follow the moon as tell you not to look," he said and flashed Kysouke a smile that only looked a little strained. "Come on. Let's get Tomoe and start practicing. I found a new route that you're going to love."

"Sure," Kyousuke said and dropped the topic. Tomoe would never love either of them back so what was the point of fighting over it?

They loved, knowing Tomoe couldn't love, and their shared suffering brought them closer together.

(And then Tomoe left and their shattered hearts broke apart from each other too.)

oh my god I fucked up the formatting I'm going to die.

LOOK IT'S NOT HUNGER GAMES. But I do have a literal AU built up in my head for them now, argh.

and yeah, Tomoe's my fav, does it show? I do think that something about the mystery of Tomoe, how apart he is from the others, is important. The fact that he left them and went to America? The way he runs and leaves Riku behind when practicing?

Tomoe is movement but he's movement away. He's never going to be anyone's happy ending.

Sighs at "love, love, love". Hello darkness my old friend :')

***

The first time Kageyama tries to confess, the words get caught at the back of his teeth.

"I'm--," he stops. He loses the thread of his thoughts. For a moment, all that swims through his mind are echoes of a past he still thinks about at dark nights: the empty courts at Kitagawa Daiichi, the receding tide of his teammates' backs , and the hardened set to Kunimi's eyes as he looked away from the ball sent towards him.

(Not pleasant things to think about, at all.)

But that was then; this is now.

Here, Kunimi doesn't look at him with tired contempt, he doesn't frown or hide the way his jaw is clenched. Here, Kunimi is a friend, and he is patiently waiting for Kageyama to continue.

Here, Kageyama thinks he could be something more with him if he only could be braver to bring himself to say the words he's kept inside his chest for ever so long, properly.

Here, they are at a crossroads, they might go beyond it, even.

And yet Kageyama finds himself stalling in the worst way possible: he is afraid.

Kunimi's fingers come to tap at his wrist, softly, hesitantly, an inquiring touch: are you alright?

"Do you need anything?" He asks and slowly pulls Kageyama to a nearby bench, makes him sit down. He pulls a water bottle from his bag and hands it over, shrugging at Kageyama as a signal for him to drink.

Kageyama does so, gratefully, and tries to will down the blush he feels flaring up when he inadvertently thinks of indirect kisses. The coolness of water slipping down his throat steadies him, and he takes his time to regroup himself. Kunimi comes to lean beside him, a comforting press against his shoulder.

"Feeling better now?"

"Yeah, a bit." It doesn't hurt so much to breathe now. Kageyama caps the bottle and passes it back to Kunimi. "Thanks for…that." And for helping me.

"Mm, it's fine." Kunimi stares hard at him for a few seconds then glances away, focusing his eyes on the playground in the distance. The wind picks up then, fluttering Kunimi's fringe. He reaches a hand out to adjust it, then, sighs. "You don't have to rush it, you know."

Kageyama blinks. "Rush what?"

With a resignation that speaks of him knocking his head against one of Kageyama's many cluelessness, Kunimi snorts, perhaps smiles a bit. Kageyama can never really tell sometimes. He folds his arms and puts more weight against Kageyama's side. "Whatever it is you need to tell me, I'll wait for it."

Relief sinks in like a solvent tablet in water. Kageyama nods his head a tad shakily "A-alright."

They watch the playground's swings sway untethered by the breeze.

IM YELLING I LOVE THIS KUNIKAGE AND kunimi's patience with kageyama, the way you contrast then and now. i just love the way you portray kunimi here, and kageyama too in all his awkward glory, in his needing time and kunimi telling him not to rush it. it's just such a soft, quiet moment between them my heart kjdhgkhdgkhdkg

sighs softly i love this thank you <3
