Bonus Round 3: FSTs

FSTs

SASO 2017 is over, but this round is perpetually open to new fills (no new prompts).

Profess your love for your favorite ships with the power of song! In this round, we ask you to create fan soundtracks and use them as inspiration for new fanwork.

Please read this whole post before commenting to ensure that your team gets the most points possible.

RULES
  • Submit prompts in the form of a short playlist (1-6 songs) and a ship from any of our nominated fandoms. Submit only the track listing and a link to where they can be listened to; the idea is for others to interpret what you present. You may also link to lyrics if you would like.
  • Your prompt MUST include some kind of relationship. Platonic relationships are indicated by an "&" between the names (e.g., Lilia & Sara). Non-platonic relationships use "/" (e.g., Lilia/Sara). Please don't say "Any pairing," either.
  • Create content based on the playlists of others! Fill prompts by leaving a responding comment to the prompt with your newly-created work.
  • Fills may be in any form you choose (except for another FST of course) as long as they are inspired by/fit the mood of the soundtrack they are filling for.
  • Remember to follow the general bonus round rules, outlined here.
  • Here is a prompt/fill index for your convenience.

If you see anyone breaking the code of conduct (e.g., causing drama, being rude) anywhere (not just DW), please contact the mods immediately.

SCORING
These numbers apply to your team as a whole, not each individual teammate. Make as many prompts/fills as you want!

For prompts: 5 points each (maximum of 50 prompt points per team per round)

For fills:
First 4 fills by any member of your team: 20 points each
Fills 5-10: 15 points each
Fills 11-20: 5 points each
Fills 21-50: 2 points each
Fills 51+: 1 point each

All scored content must be created new for this round.

Etc.
If you're hunting through the prompts looking for what to fill, a good trick is to view top-level comments only (see the line of links below this post).

Have a question? Check The FAQ first. If you still need help, feel free to contact the mods. Happy fanworking!

“Tetsu-kun!” Momoi’s slightly out of breath, but she’s here. “Sorry I’m late.” she apologizes, dropping into the chair opposite Kuroko’s. He just smiles at her, and she smiles back. “So tell me, how are you?”

And Kuroko tells her. He tells her about his current batch of students, about Shimada-kun and Maeda-kun’s rivalry, about the chocolates he’d received from his students on Valentine’s Day, how Namikawa-san had hurt herself playing the other day. She listens and she laughs in the right places, makes sympathetic noises and coos about how cute the children must be.

“They’re a lot less cute when they’re wielding markers and coming for you.” Kuroko remarks dryly, and Momoi only laughs before she launches into a story about her latest client.

“Akashi-kun’s getting married.” she says, during a lull in the conversation. Kuroko pauses, then takes a sip of his vanilla milkshake. He knows. He’d seen the invitation, with his name on it, a reminder to RSVP. Momoi’s eyes are concerned when she looks at him, and he knows what she’s asking without saying the words.

“It was a long time ago, Momoi-san.” Kuroko says, finally. “It was a mutual decision.”

She gets the hint and changes the subject, and they don’t talk about it again.

--

Kise’s the next one to ask, and Kuroko’s beginning to wonder how to tell them thank you, but please go away. He tells Kise as much, and Kise whines at him for being so blunt and rude. But he also tells Kuroko he’ll be in town sometime in the next month and Kurokocchi, please let’s go to that cafe. My treat, promise! and Kuroko had hummed agreement while he graded childish drawings of skies and flowers, writing encouraging comments on the back.

He’s not sure what kind of reaction they’d expected of him. He hadn’t wanted to talk about it then, and he still doesn’t really care to talk about it now. He’d rehashed it enough times on his own, and he thinks he and Akashi come to the correct conclusion when they’d parted.

He’s certain now of a few things he’d thought he’d known then.

First of them was Akashi was not a god, he was not infallible. He was heartbreakingly vulnerable and human, despite how he had presented himself. He had been good at hiding, but Kuroko had also been good at seeing through him. It didn’t make him unlovable. In fact, Kuroko had loved him all the more for it.

For all he had loved Akashi then, he certainly isn’t in love with Akashi anymore.

It doesn’t mean he doesn’t miss him.

The other thing was certain of now was that they had done what was best for them then. He doesn’t lay claim to any sort of prescience like Akashi does, but he’d known then had been the best time - perhaps the only time - they could let go and still be friends. Just because they’d been happy once didn’t they were happy now. The realization hurt, and it had hurt a lot. But Akashi also knew what he’d sensed, that it wasn’t working out, and it wasn’t going to work out because they wanted it to, simply because they were different people and who wanted different things.

So they’d let it die then, gently and carefully, instead of in an ugly blaze that would have left them with ashes and bitterness.

They’d both moved on, in the end. Akashi had been gracious, as he always was, and they’d remained friends after a fashion. They still exchange New Year’s greetings, and Akashi still sends him a birthday gift every year. It’s not really surprising that Akashi had sent him an invitation to his wedding. He’s sure Akashi had sent one to the rest of the Miracles, and perhaps his friends in Rakuzan. He stares at the embossed card in his hand, reminding him he still owed a reply and soon.

So he writes a polite acceptance note and seals the envelope. He’ll visit the post office on his way home from work tomorrow.

Tomoe's never written from America. Not to Kyousuke, not to Heath, not to Riku. He disappears from their lives as cleanly as if he's been surgically excised, sliced out by a scalpel.

And like all surgeries that involved cutting, he leaves a scar behind.

It's the space between Kyousuke and Heath, new and raw, the space where he'd once fit and now there are only the raw edges of an open wound. Time is a healer, everyone says, but some wounds grow infected before they can heal.

Kyousuke writes a dozen letters to Tomoe, calls him Tomeo in their private joke from English class, and has no address to mail them to. He writes of being suspended and how hard it is to find a way to fill up the time. He writes of Striding through the streets, of swinging himself over obstacles and breaking into a tearaway, holding his hand up - and finding only empty air. He writes of clapping his hands together instead, replicating the sensation of Relationing as best as he can and how it's still not enough. How nothing but Tomoe will ever be enough.

He writes of the wind, how it blows all the way to America, how he hopes that it blows his kisses along with it so they can land on Tomoe's cheeks (or better yet, his lips).

Even if he'd had Tomoe's address, he might not have sent those letters. They're too soft, too longing. They will not be anything that Tomoe's understands.

Sometimes Kyousuke thinks that Tomoe was born broken - born wrong. The secret of his running isn't skill but emptiness. Kyousuke imagines Tomoe with hollow bird bones and a void where his heart should be. It's too easy to picture Tomoe as hollow on the inside, skin stretched over emptiness like he's a human balloon. It'd suit the way that Tomoe runs like gravity relinquished its claim on him long ago.

But he's touched Tomoe. He's felt Tomoe's heartbeat quicken under his caresses, he's tasted the sweat of Tomoe's skin against his tongue. Tomoe is human and in a way, that makes everything a thousand times worse.

Mortals aren't meant to love gods; gods will always leave them.

But Tomoe is human so why was it so wrong for Kyousuke to love him?

(Why did Kyousuke know from the start that their love would fail because Tomoe was doomed to glory?)
