"Yukihira...you really are pretty good,” Imayoshi said out loud as he watched the press conference. Yukihara was handling the reporters with all the ease of the consummate PR agent, deftly dodging the harder questions and expanding on the easier ones to make it seem as if he were revealing more information than he was.
“I wish he actually agreed to be my assistant.” Imayoshi sighed, still watching. The couch creaked as Hanamiya dropped himself down over the top of it, landing gracefully on the thick cushions and sprawling out with his head on Imayoshi’s lap.
“Who, the blond?” Hanamiya asked, turning his attention to the TV as well. Imayoshi automatically slid his hands into Hanamiya’s hair, scratching his nails lightly over Hanamiya’s scalp in the way that he knew soothed the other man.
“Mm. Very talented PR agent. I tried to take him away from his agency by overpaying but apparently he has some sense of loyalty to the woman that founded it.” Imayoshi scowled at the screen, thinking again of how he’d wined and dined the man only to find that he absolutely wouldn’t budge. Tch. What a waste of his time and money!
“What does a lawyer need a PR agent for anyway?” Hanamiya asked curiously. Imayoshi’s fingers found the scar tissue of where Hanamiya had had his head stitched up and gently rubbed back and forth over the raised ridge.
“Lawyers always need good PR. Especially when we take on sticky cases. He would have been perfect for dealing with the press and arranging good interviews.”
“...If he’s only staying there for the founder, maybe he’ll leave the company if she dies,” Hanamiya suggested and Imayoshi heard it was for the offer it was.
“She doesn’t have any family. There’s a risk that she left it to him or at least partly to him since he was her protege,” Imayoshi said, unable to keep the sourness out of his tone.
Hanamiya studied the screen for a few seconds longer. “Does he have any family?”
“Parents are dead. He’s got one sister whom he’s helping through medical school.” Imayoshi had even offered to pay off her student debt for him but received polite thanks and a refusal. He’d admire that sense of independence if it weren’t frustrating him.
“Mmm,” Hanamiya said, twisting about to prop himself up on one elbow and reaching up to catch Imayoshi’s hair with his other hand. He tugged Imayoshi’s head downwards, then kissed him hard enough that Imayoshi forgot all about sulking.
*
Three weeks later, Yukihira presented himself to Imayoshi’s office and asked if the position of Head of PR was still open.
Hanamiya always got him the best presents.

And yeah, I have NO CLUE who Yukihara is but canonically, Imayoshi wants to grow up to be a lawyer so I went with that!
I'm soft-pedaling them a little for fills for non-ImaHana peeps, I don't want you guys to be all WAIT WHY ARE THERE SADOMASOCHISTIC MURDERERS IN MY INBOX and suddenly regretting prompting for me! But their core dynamic stays the same!

Well, it looks like Imayoshi is pretty good at what he does. That’s no surprise, though; there’s a reason Hanamiya had offered him a job as his assistant, and he’s still kind of pissed (okay, really pissed) that Imayoshi had turned it down and he’s still stuck with Furuhashi, loyalty and shitty excuses about forgetting he’d had his phone in his hand when he’d fallen into the pool and there went all of the emails that were supposed to be sent out. Imayoshi had seemed more intelligent, more cunning, able to come up with better excuses and smart enough to not even try and just get the work done when it had to be.
Hanamiya’s got no idea why Imayoshi had applied, turned the job down, and become a lawyer, working on the opposing counsel for this large contract on which Hanamiya’s client expects to come out looking like the winners. It’s a good deal for everyone, even cut the way Hanamiya wants it, but with Imayoshi—well, that might make things more difficult. Not that Hanamiya’s not up to the challenge.
(Still, why had Imayoshi turned him down? Why give up a cushy assistant’s job, good pay, good company, good benefits, for the stress and annoyance of dealing directly with contract law? If Imayoshi had been lazy enough to apply for an assistant’s job—had it all been an inside thing? Had he been able to get the dirt on Hanamiya? Had they let their guards down at the firm? They never do, but perhaps—no.)
Imayoshi asks Hanamiya to go to lunch with him, and Hanamiya agrees. Better to keep an eye on him there as best he can.
“Why did you apply to be my assistant if you weren’t interested?” Hanamiya asks him.
“Oh, no, I was,” says Imayoshi. “But I reckon going on a date with your boss is a conflict of interest.”
Dates? Who said anything about dates? “What?”
“Didn’t I make myself clear?” says Imayoshi. “You and me, here, this is a date.”
“Dating the opposing counsel is more of a conflict of interest,” says Hanamiya. “Don’t you want me to bend you over my desk and fuck you?”
It’s perhaps unnecessarily lewd, but it makes Imayoshi raise his eyebrows; it’s not something Hanamiya had been thinking about, but, well. Now that he is, it doesn’t seem like such a bad idea. Maybe it’s even kind of hot.
