Bonus Round 4: Quotes

SASO 2017 is over, but this round is perpetually open to new fills (no new prompts).

An oldie but a goodie—in this round, we draw inspiration from famous words said by other people.

Please read this whole post before commenting to ensure that your team gets the most points possible.

RULES

• Submit prompts by commenting to this post with a quote attributed to a specific person or character, along with any ship/ot3/etc. from one of our nominated fandoms.
  • Example: "That which does not kill us makes us stronger." -Friedrich Nietzsche
  • The quote can come from almost anything—famous people, poetry, songs, books, movies, etc.— but please don't quote personal conversations you've had or overheard.
  • Your prompt MUST include some kind of relationship. Platonic relationships are indicated by an "&" between the names (e.g., Natsuo & Yuzuko). Non-platonic relationships use "/" (e.g., Natsuo/Yuzuko). Please don't say "Any pairing," either!
• Fill prompts by replying to the prompt with your quote-inspired fanwork.

SCORING

These numbers apply to your team as a whole, not each individual teammate. Make as many prompts/fills as you want!

For prompts: 5 points each (maximum of 50 prompt points per team per round)

For fills:
First 4 fills by any member of your team: 20 points each
Fills 5-10: 15 points each
Fills 11-20: 5 points each
Fills 21-50: 2 points each
Fills 51+: 1 point each

All scored content must be created new for this round.

“Makoto-chan, you really must learn to accept your limitations,” Imayoshi said placidly. “There are people who fall in love and experience natural chemical highs because of it. And then there are people who are incapable of love and whose emotional range is limited enough to fit in an eyedropper.”

He gave Hanamiya the most condescending pat on the shoulder that he could manage, his smile a curve of pure mocking pity.

“There’s nothing wrong with your inability to feel anything besides bitterness, rage and satisfaction. You shouldn’t pretnd to yourself that you’re capable of anything more.” Imayoshi patted Hanamiya on the cheek, watching with pleasure the way the other’s eyes darkened and his eyebrows drew together. “Lie to the world, if you like, but not to yourself. That’s how true heartbreak happens- not when someone else dumps you but when you realize you can't even trust yourself."

"You talk a lot of shit, senpai," Hanamiya said almost sweetly. "I'm just as capable of falling in love as the next person. And since the next person is you, I bet that I'm even more capable of it than you are."

He gestured around the courtyard, filled with students out on their lunch break and exchanging chocolates for Valentine's Day. Hanamiya had shared his heap with Imayoshi, only to end up getting lectured on the void in his chest where he was supposed to have a heart.

“I will make up a crush, you hear me?! I will look at a guy and say, for two months at least, ‘I think you’re cute’. So there.”


When Imayoshi still looked disbelieving, Hanamiya gave an angry jerk of his head and said, "You'll see. Two months from now, I'll be in love with someone else!"

"Someone else?" Imayoshi repeated, arching an eyebrow inquisitively at Hanamiya. It was Valentine's Day, after all. This was the perfect chance for Hanamiya to confess.

To Imayoshi's surprise, Hanamiya scowled and shoved him hard enouh that Imayoshi nearly fell off the bench."

"Fuck off, senpai. That's not the important part." He'd given Imayoshi chocolates on Valentine's Day and Imayoshi had either not realized what it meant or chose to pretend to play clueless.

Either way, that meant it was time that Hanamiya found someone else to crush on. Imayoshi's speech had given him the perfect excuse.

(Hanamiya wouldn't let himself think about how it meant that Imayoshi was STILL controlling his heart.)

Two months from now, I'll be in love with someone else!" and then it turned sharp and painful when there were Imayoshi chocolates, as though the edges of the unrequited love were sharp enough to make you bleed.
