Bonus Round 5: Clue

Clue

SASO 2017 is over, but this round is perpetually open to new fills (no new prompts).

Sometimes, all you need are a few little details to imagine something bigger. This round is inspired by a classic board game with a cast of colorful characters, but for SASO your only limits on "who", "where", and "with what" are what you can imagine (and the SASO fandom list, of course)!

This round closes on 5 August @ 7PM EDT. (Countdown Timer.)

Please read this whole post before commenting to ensure that your team gets the most points possible. (There are changes from last year!)

RULES
  • Submit prompts by commenting to this post with the format of a Clue mystery - "[character] in the [location] with [item]", along with any ship/ot3/etc. from one of our nominated fandoms.
    • Example: Sawamura Daichi in the teachers' lounge with the Hello Kitty! lunchbox
    • The person in your prompt MAY be a member of your ship, but is not REQUIRED to be part of your ship. They must still be a named character from a SASO-nominated fandom.
    • Your place must be a physical location, not a state of being or a state of being. However, this location is not required to be real, nor must it be from the same setting as the characters.
    • The "item" used must be a physical object that the character can hold or manipulate.
    • Unlike the board game, your prompt is NOT required to imply murder. The scenario implied can be anything at all! (As always, please tag properly!)
    • Your prompt MUST include some kind of relationship. Platonic relationships are indicated by an "&" between the names (e.g., Natsuo & Yuzuko). Non-platonic relationships use "/" (e.g., Natsuo/Yuzuko). Please don't say "Any pairing," either!
  • Fill prompts by replying to the prompt with your Clue-inspired fanwork.
  • Remember to follow the general bonus round rules, outlined here.
  • Here is a prompt/fill index for your convenience.

The poster is smooth in Yuuri’s hands, the image glossy and new.

“That’s him, right? That skater you like,” Mari’s asking. Yuuri’s so excited he almost doesn’t hear her, almost doesn’t breathe at all.

“Yes–it’s Viktor. Viktor Nikiforov,” he says. He can’t stop beaming.

Mari laughs, ruffles his hair. “Alright. I’m glad, then.”

“I’m putting it in my room right now,” Yuuri says, and off he goes.

This is where it starts.

//

Slowly, Yuuri hoards his pocket money and buys another poster. And another. Then another–

“You sure like him a lot, huh,” Mari says.

Yuuri stares at her, a poster of Viktor in this season’s short program costume in his hands.

“It’s Viktor Nikiforov,” he says, as if it couldn’t be any more clear.

“He’s gonna be the best in the world,” Yuuko pipes in.

“He’s alright,” Takeshi mumbles. Yuuri sticks his tongue out at him, and doesn’t let Takeshi touch the poster even after Takeshi says please.

//

Yuuri doesn’t mean to, the first time. He really doesn’t, but then it happens again, and again, and Yuuri thinks it was probably unavoidable. At age sixteen, his Viktor poster collection is much, much more extensive than it was at age twelve. Viktor is the best men’s skater in the world, after all, and posters of him are a lot easier to come by than they used to be. Yuuri’s wallet hasn’t forgiven him in years.

He swallows, feeling only a little guilty for what he’s doing right now.

Viktor is the best in the world, but he also looks really, really good.

Yuuri’s hand squeezes without meaning to and he bites down on a gasp, hips stuttering into his fist.

Viktor’s face stares down at him from the wall. It’s from Viktor’s photoshoot with the Russian Olympic team, and Viktor’s leaning back in against a chair, almost throne-like, looking poised and lovely and a little bit amused. Yuuri is still getting used to Viktor with short hair.

As it turns out, Viktor looks good in almost anything.

Yuuri breathes out, ragged, and finishes into his hand. He pulls his hand from his pants and reaches for a tissue without looking. At himself, anyway. It is very hard to look away from Viktor.

At least, Yuuri thinks, rueful, it’s not the poster with Makkachin.

Yuuri’s ruined posters accidentally before. He’s considering buying them in sets of two.

A noise at the door, followed by soft scratching. Vicchan.

“Ah,” Yuuri says, half stumbling out of bed as an ankle catches on the blanket.

Vicchan whines, and won’t settle until Yuuri’s let him and tucked him against his chest, the two of them curled together by Yuuri’s desk. Yuuri’s traitor pulse still hammers against his throat, Vicchan nuzzling deeper into his chest.

“You’re a good boy, Vicchan,” Yuuri coos. “You’re my favourite.”

Vicchan whuffs wetly into Yuuri’s shirt, and Yuuri laughs.

Framed on Yuuri’s desk, Viktor and Makkachin are smiling, too, suspended mid-laugh, happy.

//

Viktor is surprisingly quiet when he comes. Yuuri hasn’t yet confessed to imagining it, Viktor’s expression, but the reality far exceeds any half-imagined fancy.

“Yuuri,” he mumbles, leaning back against Yuuri’s chest, tugging Yuuri’s arms to hold him properly. Yuuri hasn’t cleaned up yet, his hand still dirty.

“I don’t mind,” Viktor continues before Yuuri can say anything. “Just–stay? Yuuri.”

Yuuri’s already leaning into Viktor, pressing kisses absently along the dip between Viktor’s neck and shoulder.

“You’re wearing expensive pants again,” he reminds Viktor.

“I can buy more,” Viktor says, but doesn’t argue when Yuuri reaches for the tissues. Yuuri huffs a laugh, muffled by Viktor’s shirt.

Yuuri’s throwing the tissue away when Viktor says, “That is very conveniently placed.”

“Mm?”

“You have a trash can beside your bed.” Viktor’s grin is audible. “When your desk is across the room.”

“...You can just ask, you know,” Yuuri tells him.

Viktor turns his head, leaning up to press a kiss to Yuuri’s jaw.

“I listen to everything you say,” Viktor hums, “whenever you feel like saying it.”

Yuuri doesn’t feel like saying anything right now, and he tilts his head down. Viktor meets him halfway before he has to say anything at all.

//

Viktor, later, asks, “...with the posters?”

Yuuri sighs. “With the posters.”

“Yuuri!”

yuuri's wallet has been through so, so much, all in the name of yuuri's worthy cause viktor nikiforov. lmao i just, i can imagine so easily yuuri jerking off to his posters but also having posters be anything less than perfect is Unacceptable.

viktor is scandalised but delighted, probably. they're so made for each other :")

thank you for such a nice comment!!

FILL: Team Katsuki Yuuri/Victor Nikiforov, T

I have some regrets.

***

There were some pictures of Victor that Yuuri didn’t put up on his bedroom walls, where his mother could come in and see them. Those pictures had their own four ring binder -- innocently labeled as ‘Inspirations’ -- complete with clear sheet protectors to protect them the grease of Yuuri’s hand and … other things.

It wasn’t all nudes. It wasn’t mostly nudes. Yuuri reasoned that Victor wearing a costume that was largely composed of glitter and nude mesh didn’t count as being naked anyway. Yuuri’s favorite was one where Victor still had his long hair -- it was an ad for a men’s cologne that wasn’t even sold in Japan. Yuuri had had to barter with a western fan to get it, but it was worth it.

It had Victor climbing out of a icy-blue lagoon that was the exact color of his eyes. Victor smoldered at the camera, his lips pouting. He looked beautiful and sleek and somehow unreal. Yuuri sometimes dreamed about this Victor, how cool he would be to touch, how smooth would his skin. How beautiful Victor was…

(Anyway, the sheet protectors really helped keep Yuuri’s collection safe.)

When he went off to college, Yuuri made the mistake of taking his Victor binder with him. He hadn’t really thought of it, just dropped it into his suitcase with some other things. He lived in a small flat close to school and had no roommates, so there was no reason that, after school and after practice, he couldn’t take the binder out and look at them. There’s the one with castaway Victor, with shells in his hair. There was Renaissance prince Victor, with Botticelli curls and a rosy sneer. (That was a rare look at didn’t quite work with Victor -- but Yuuri appreciated the effort.)

Then, disaster -- a girl Yuuri had half-heartedly tried dating came over to his flat and found the binder. He’d gotten careless, had left it lying on his bed for anyone to see. She’d held up for him, a frozen look in her face. “Is this what you’re into, Katsuki-kun?”

“Ah --” Yuuri said, dying inside. “You’re misunderstanding things. It’s my book of inspiration. For figure-skating. I’m a figure-skater.”

“I don’t think I’m misunderstanding,” she said, putting it back on his bed. “Goodnight, Katsuki-kun.”

Yuuri was so furious with himself that he considered destroying the binder, or throwing it away. What did it matter if he held Victor so close to his heart? How could he even consider someone loving someone perfect like Victor when he was so horribly flawed?

The next time Yuuri came home, he put down all his posters of Victor and hid the binder in his closet. He didn’t come back home, back to his room or back to Victor for five years. And when he did, his mother had put up the posters again and he had a new, strange complication in his life -- the real, living breathing Victor Nikiforov, who was nothing like his posters at all.

(He was better.)

Of course, the real Victor was also hopelessly noisy. He had ferreted out Yuuri’s secret shame almost right away, and dug up Yuuri’s even more secret shame soon after. Yuuri thought he would have a heart attack when he came in one day to see Victor casually flipping through the blinder. He looked up and smiled when he saw Yuuri.

Yuuri,” he said, his face innocence personified, “you know, that cologne reeked so badly that I didn’t smell right for a week? Yuuri? Have you fainted? Yuuri!”
