Bonus Round 5: Clue

Clue

SASO 2017 is over, but this round is perpetually open to new fills (no new prompts).

Sometimes, all you need are a few little details to imagine something bigger. This round is inspired by a classic board game with a cast of colorful characters, but for SASO your only limits on "who", "where", and "with what" are what you can imagine (and the SASO fandom list, of course)!

This round closes on 5 August @ 7PM EDT. (Countdown Timer.)

Please read this whole post before commenting to ensure that your team gets the most points possible. (There are changes from last year!)

RULES
  • Submit prompts by commenting to this post with the format of a Clue mystery - "[character] in the [location] with [item]", along with any ship/ot3/etc. from one of our nominated fandoms.
    • Example: Sawamura Daichi in the teachers' lounge with the Hello Kitty! lunchbox
    • The person in your prompt MAY be a member of your ship, but is not REQUIRED to be part of your ship. They must still be a named character from a SASO-nominated fandom.
    • Your place must be a physical location, not a state of being or a state of being. However, this location is not required to be real, nor must it be from the same setting as the characters.
    • The "item" used must be a physical object that the character can hold or manipulate.
    • Unlike the board game, your prompt is NOT required to imply murder. The scenario implied can be anything at all! (As always, please tag properly!)
    • Your prompt MUST include some kind of relationship. Platonic relationships are indicated by an "&" between the names (e.g., Natsuo & Yuzuko). Non-platonic relationships use "/" (e.g., Natsuo/Yuzuko). Please don't say "Any pairing," either!
  • Fill prompts by replying to the prompt with your Clue-inspired fanwork.
  • Remember to follow the general bonus round rules, outlined here.
  • Here is a prompt/fill index for your convenience.

This reminds me of an Asterix comic. AH I DIDN'T SEE THE STROLLER EDIT UNTIL I WENT TO POST. Okay. I added it in but it messes with the explanation of HOW the baby got there so I removed that section, super sorry if this no longer flows well.

***

“Awww,” Nishinoya cooed, jogging up to Tanaka and peering rapturously at the small, wrinkled face of the baby that Tanaka was carrying. “What a cute baby!”

He tickled under the baby’s chin with a wide smile, “Hi, little cutie! What’s your name?”

The baby made a gurgling sound in response which Nishinoya fondly mimicked. “I speak your language, little alien. Take me to your leader!”

Tanaka snorted with laughter, “Didn’t know you were the type to get all giddy over babies.”

“I love kids!” Nishinoya protested, tickling the baby again. “And this one’s so cute! All that soft fluffy hair and such big eyes. Is she - he? - your cousin?”

“No,” Tanaka said, an unaccustomed glumness settling over his features.

“Niece? Nephew?” Nishinoya tried again.

“No.” Tanaka said again, jiggling the baby again. “It’s not related to me at all.”

“Should’ve known, it’s too cute,” Nishinoya teased playfully. He gave Tanaka a quick kiss on the cheek to take the sting out of the mock-insult and asked, “So where did you get it from?”

Tanaka pointed at a bush. “Over there.”

“...What?” Nishinoya turned to look at the bush. It had big, green leaves, rather like an oversized cabbage, but he thought it was a horseradish plant. Maybe. He wasn’t good at botany. There was an empty stroller parked next to it. “You found a baby in a bush?”

“Yeah. I thought they only grew under cabbage bushes or came from the stork, but I guess that they couldn’t find a cabbage field near us,” Tanaka said as he gave the baby another jiggle.

“...You know babies don’t actually grow under cabbages, don’t you?” Nishinoya asked warily, distracted from the question of where the fuck the random baby had actually come from by his boyfriend’s seeming innocence.

“I thought they didn’t!” Tanaka said in a tone of wounded innocence, “But then I found this one. And what other explanation is there?”

“That someone abandoned it?” Nishinoya suggested.

Tanaka’s eyes grew wide with horror and he immediately adopted his most thuggish face. “Who’d abandon a cute baby like this? If I find them, I’m going to kick their ass!”

In response to Tanaka’s angry voice, the baby started sobbing and Nishinoya held his arms out quickly. “Here, give it over. I’ll hold the baby, you go look for a policeman to report this to.”

*

When Tanaka and Nishinoya called from the police station, saying they needed help because they’d been charged with kidnapping a baby, Daichi seriously considered just leaving them in there for a few hours. Bailing people out of jail was not in the team captain’s description!

AHHH!!! Don't worry about not catching my edit - I just wanted to make sure that no one got mad because it was an invalid prompt (... Babies AREN'T objects, who knew?? /shrug). I love this!! I love how Tanaka and Noya are just having fun with this adorable baby, until they have a realization of where it came from, and the stinger with Daichi at the end is hilarious! Thank you again for filling my prompts - you're fills are always great!
