Bonus Round 5: Clue
Sometimes, all you need are a few little details to imagine something bigger. This round is inspired by a classic board game with a cast of colorful characters, but for SASO your only limits on "who", "where", and "with what" are what you can imagine (and the SASO fandom list, of course)!
Please read this whole post before commenting to ensure that your team gets the most points possible. (There are changes from last year!)
RULES
- Submit prompts by commenting to this post with the format of a Clue mystery - "[character] in the [location] with [item]", along with any ship/ot3/etc. from one of our nominated fandoms.
- Example: Sawamura Daichi in the teachers' lounge with the Hello Kitty! lunchbox
- The person in your prompt MAY be a member of your ship, but is not REQUIRED to be part of your ship. They must still be a named character from a SASO-nominated fandom.
- Your place must be a physical location, not a state of being or a state of being. However, this location is not required to be real, nor must it be from the same setting as the characters.
- The "item" used must be a physical object that the character can hold or manipulate.
- Unlike the board game, your prompt is NOT required to imply murder. The scenario implied can be anything at all! (As always, please tag properly!)
- Your prompt MUST include some kind of relationship. Platonic relationships are indicated by an "&" between the names (e.g., Natsuo & Yuzuko). Non-platonic relationships use "/" (e.g., Natsuo/Yuzuko). Please don't say "Any pairing," either!
- Fill prompts by replying to the prompt with your Clue-inspired fanwork.

Toudou laid his tools out like he was about to perform a sacred ceremony. He pulled a pair of purple rubber gloves methodically over his slender hands then he laid out a tea towel on his dorm desk. He lit a tea candle in a sturdy votive then put down a cup of ice and a stand mirror followed by a cork, a felt pen, a wrapped alcohol wipe, and then the long needle went down like a sword being presented. It was a thin doll needle, long enough to have a good grip and roughly the size of a proper piercing needle. A small, plastic box went down next.
The items on the table shifted with light clunks against the desk, Toudou shot an ugly glance to the one in the opposite chair. Manami was kicking his foot against the side of the desk; that light smirk still plastered on his face.
“Could you stop that, it’s affecting my concentration,” Toudou scolded.
“Sorry, Jinpachi,” Manami responded, the singsong tone told Toudou he wasn’t that apologetic though he did stop.
Manami was a university student now and still acting like a kid, it was annoying and cute at the same time. Hearing Manami say his given name always made Toudou’s cheeks warm up.
“Now stay still,” Toudou advised.
Manami’s smirk widened and he had this look in his eyes that was a little too excited. Toudou picked up the pen with one hand and the fingers of his opposite hand took a delicate hold of Manami’s left earlobe. He focused the tip carefully and made a small black dot on Manami’s earlobe. Toudou capped the pen and put it on the table, then brought up the mirror and showed it to Manami.
“Is that where you wanted it?” Toudou asked.
Manami studied his image in the mirror, slowly his mouth opened and he nodded.
“That would be perfect,” Manami said.
“Okay, let’s get started,” Toudou declared, putting the pen down.
“This is going to be so amazing, you’re so great for doing this Jinpachi,” Manami responded.
Toudou just had to smile wider and flip his hair back with the back of his hand. He knew by now the kid was kissing up to him, but Toudou didn’t exactly mind being kissed up to no matter what the reason was. It took a while for Toudou to tell the difference between when Manami wanted something or when he was legitimately signing his praises, though his intentions were always pretty innocent.
Toudou picked up the cup of ice and took out a cube, holding it to Manami’s lobe.
“Now I want you to hold this on your ear for a minute or so,” Toudou advised. “This will numb your ear to take the sting out.”
Manami’s eyes widened in sudden surprise, lips bowed down into a frown.
“Will it hurt that much?” Manami asked.
“Don’t worry, it’s just a pinch and a little burn,” Toudou assured, tapping him on the shoulder.
Manami cocked his head and looked at the dresser.
“Do I have to use this?” Manami asked. “I think I’d rather have the whole experience.”
Toudou looked at him blankly and blinked, then shrugged and put the ice cube back in the cup. This wasn’t exactly a surprise either.
“That’s no problem, San-chan, if that’s what you’d prefer,” Toudou answered. “I guess it is part of the experience; teasing that primal pain instinct.”
“Exactly, I want to feel everything!” Manami beamed.
Toudou was used to this by now, though it didn’t sound any less creepy.
“Well let’s get right to business,” Toudou declared. He took up the gauze wrapper, tore open the package, and swabbed Manami’s earlobe with alcohol. “I will just remind you again I’ve never done this before.”
“But you watched your sister do it, isn’t that right?”
“Most certainly,” Toudou motioned to the silver ball in his own earlobe. “The members of the Toudou family have exceptionally nimble fingers and strong constitutions. There are few ancient arts we can’t master.”
“That’s amazing,” Manami lightly chuckled.
Toudou put down the alcohol swab and picked up the needle, passing it through the candle’s flame to sterilize it. Manami was watching the needle with a wide smile. He then picked up the cork and positioned it behind Manami’s earlobe, then aimed needle’s tip right over the drawn circle.
“Don’t worry about hurting me, I’m pretty tough,” Manami stated.
And he has this thing for pain, Toudou finished in his head.
“I’ll certainly remember that, Manami,” Toudou said. The thought made him feel a tiny bit less nervous about this but it didn’t allay all his fears about mauling his special friend.
The tip of the needle was gently pressed against Manami’s skin, Toudou got a firm grip on the end of it and the cork. He took a breath and drove the needle through. Manami shivered a little, though Toudou saw that little smile. The tip of the needle was now embedded in the cork and the needle was through his ear with a little dribble of blood. Toudou carefully pulled the needle back and extracted it from the cork and Manami’s earlobe. There was a reddening hole left right in the area where the mark had been.
Toudou put the tools down and collected the little plastic box, opening it and taking out the starter earring he and Manami had picked out together. He placed the stud into the hole and carefully put the backing on. Toudou moved his fingers and admired his handiwork.
“Masterful, truly masterful,” Toudou boasted.
“What does it look like?” Manami asked excitedly.
Toudou picked up the mirror and grandly handed it to Manami. Manami snatched it up and positioned it over one side of his face. Manami’s sparkling eyes and widening grin shot warmth through Toudou’s heart capped off with his little yell.
“Ahhh that looks awesome!” Manami yelped, kicking his feet.
Manami and Toudou both admired the little emerald that stood against Manami’s skin. Toudou’s hand gently cupped Manami’s jaw and his thumb rubbed under his chin.
“You are more than welcome, it was a service I was glad to perform,” Toudou replied. “You were such a good sport too.”
Toudou pecked Manami on the lips, Manami let out a little moan and kissed him back.
“You’re truly amazing, Jinpachi,” Manami hummed, kissing him again.
Toudou hummed a little and kissed his cheek, feeling his boyfriend’s fingers caress the side of his face. That was reward enough for doing this.
