Bonus Round 5: Clue

Clue

SASO 2017 is over, but this round is perpetually open to new fills (no new prompts).

Sometimes, all you need are a few little details to imagine something bigger. This round is inspired by a classic board game with a cast of colorful characters, but for SASO your only limits on "who", "where", and "with what" are what you can imagine (and the SASO fandom list, of course)!

This round closes on 5 August @ 7PM EDT. (Countdown Timer.)

Please read this whole post before commenting to ensure that your team gets the most points possible. (There are changes from last year!)

RULES
  • Submit prompts by commenting to this post with the format of a Clue mystery - "[character] in the [location] with [item]", along with any ship/ot3/etc. from one of our nominated fandoms.
    • Example: Sawamura Daichi in the teachers' lounge with the Hello Kitty! lunchbox
    • The person in your prompt MAY be a member of your ship, but is not REQUIRED to be part of your ship. They must still be a named character from a SASO-nominated fandom.
    • Your place must be a physical location, not a state of being or a state of being. However, this location is not required to be real, nor must it be from the same setting as the characters.
    • The "item" used must be a physical object that the character can hold or manipulate.
    • Unlike the board game, your prompt is NOT required to imply murder. The scenario implied can be anything at all! (As always, please tag properly!)
    • Your prompt MUST include some kind of relationship. Platonic relationships are indicated by an "&" between the names (e.g., Natsuo & Yuzuko). Non-platonic relationships use "/" (e.g., Natsuo/Yuzuko). Please don't say "Any pairing," either!
  • Fill prompts by replying to the prompt with your Clue-inspired fanwork.
  • Remember to follow the general bonus round rules, outlined here.
  • Here is a prompt/fill index for your convenience.

“It’s not that hard.”

Tobio fumbles with the bandages as Oikawa’s voice cuts through the room, and he looks up, probably looking more shell-shocked than he would like to be. “Ah. Oikawa-san. I didn’t know you were awake.”

“I was going to go back to sleep, but you were messing with the bandages for so long, I got too bored to even nap.” It doesn’t make sense, but then again, not much of Oikawa’s petty ramblings do these days. He likes to lash out, Iwaizumi had told him seriously when he’d offered to help look after Oikawa. I hope you know what you’re signing up for.

Iwaizumi had just been looking out for Tobio. It isn’t his fault that he doesn’t know all the details. If he did, though, he’d know that Tobio knows far too well what he’s volunteering for.

He sets the bandages down for a moment to smooth back Oikawa’s hair. “Do you need painkillers? Are you feeling okay?”

“Don’t mother me, Tobio-chan.” Oikawa turns to look up at him, just so he can roll his eyes. “I’ll ask you for meds if I need them. Just wrap my knee back up, okay?”

“Right.” Tobio picks the bandages back up, starting to wind them around Oikawa’s knee, only to be met with a ferocious pout. “What is it?”

“Nothing,” Oikawa says, when it obviously must be something. No matter how inquisitively Tobio looks at him, he doesn’t speak up, instead just tugging at his bangs with a sulky expression.

Oh. Of course. Tobio scoots back up to bat his hand away and press a kiss to his forehead before returning to his job.

“Nnn, Tobio-chan, that was so short! You’re not taking care of me at all. I’m going to tell on you to Iwa-chan.”

Sometimes, Tobio thinks Oikawa enjoys the sound of his own voice a little too much. “You’ll tell Iwaizumi-san that you’re unhappy that I didn’t kiss you?” He does his best to keep his own voice level - it’s not often that he gets to tease Oikawa.

Sure enough, Oikawa stutters for a bit before grumbling beneath his breath, letting Tobio finally finish with his knee. “Does that feel good?” he asks, pressing the bandages down so they lay flat against the skin of his leg.

Oikawa tries moving his knee a little experimentally, then nods. “Yeah, that’s good.” Without preamble, he reaches for Tobio’s hand, knocking their knuckles together before pulling away. “Thanks for being here.”

“Thanks for letting me,” Tobio responds, just as quietly. Because despite the complaining and the squabbling and how much of a handful an injured Oikawa can be, Tobio would rather be here than anywhere else.

I. Well. I TRIED OKAY. I’M NOT VERY GOOD AT FLUFFY AND TENDER. But it definitely starts out that way! And then they bickered. I’m so sorry, I hope at least the first part is to your tastes.

“Ow,” Oikawa says but there’s no real hurt in it. Kageyama knows how to listen for the sharpness in Oikawa’s voice, the little catch of breath that comes when Oikawa’s genuinely in pain; like so many people, Oikawa will yelp out of shock and whine about little injuries but stoically suffer through real problems.

“Baby,” Kageyama retorts but all the same, his hands gentle a little as he dabs the antiseptic iodine into the wound. The purple mixture stains Oikawa’s skin in Shiratorawiza colors and the sting of it is enough to make Oikawa’s muscles tense.

“Nearly done,” Kageyama says, voice a little distracted as he concentrates on cleaning the wound without leaving any bits of cotton wool sticking to it. Another slosh of iodine and he caps the bottle, putting it away neatly.

Oikawa stares down ruefully at the deep wound on his knee. “I didn’t know you could get this hurt on a scooter. It wasn’t even motorized.”

“Only you could manage it,” Kageyama says just to watch Oikawa pout at him.

“You’re so mean, Tobio-chan!” Oikawa complains, his leg still stretched out in front of him.

“So sue me for medical malpractice.” Kageyama picks up the rectangular wound plaster with the thick, waterproof pad that supposedly contains silver and carefully applies it over the wound. He presses the adhesive sides over Oikawa’s now-purple skin, making sure it’s secure, then takes the bandages out of the box.

Oikawa huffs, looking at the roll of white stretch bandage dubiously. “Do you think I’ll still be able to play with that on?”

“...I think you shouldn’t jump around too much while it’s healing. The scabs might rip open,” Kageyama says a little uncertainly. He holds one end of the bandage against the side of Oikawa’s knee and then starts to wrap the bandage over and around Oikawa’s knee, making sure that he covers the whole area generously.

He’s done enough first aid that he knows how to bandage people. How long it’ll be until Oikawa can play is another matter.

“...Guess that means you’re the first string setter now,” Oikawa says after a few seconds.

Kageyama’s hands still, the uneven stretch of the fabric tucked against his fingers. “I didn’t want it like this.”

“I know,” Oikawa says quickly, a little too quickly to Kageyama’s ears. “But it’s true.”

Kageyama takes a deep breath and returns to wrapping the bandage in place, pressing the edges down to secure them. “...Next time they put me as first string, it’ll be because I’m better than you.”

“So cute, Tobio-chan.” Oikawa pats him on the cheek, condescending and cruel, and Kageyama thumps the side of Oikawa’s knee in retaliation.

“There! All done!” He says and delights just a little in how dark with pain Oikawa’s eyes have become.
