Bonus Round 5: Clue

Clue

SASO 2017 is over, but this round is perpetually open to new fills (no new prompts).

Sometimes, all you need are a few little details to imagine something bigger. This round is inspired by a classic board game with a cast of colorful characters, but for SASO your only limits on "who", "where", and "with what" are what you can imagine (and the SASO fandom list, of course)!

This round closes on 5 August @ 7PM EDT. (Countdown Timer.)

Please read this whole post before commenting to ensure that your team gets the most points possible. (There are changes from last year!)

RULES
  • Submit prompts by commenting to this post with the format of a Clue mystery - "[character] in the [location] with [item]", along with any ship/ot3/etc. from one of our nominated fandoms.
    • Example: Sawamura Daichi in the teachers' lounge with the Hello Kitty! lunchbox
    • The person in your prompt MAY be a member of your ship, but is not REQUIRED to be part of your ship. They must still be a named character from a SASO-nominated fandom.
    • Your place must be a physical location, not a state of being or a state of being. However, this location is not required to be real, nor must it be from the same setting as the characters.
    • The "item" used must be a physical object that the character can hold or manipulate.
    • Unlike the board game, your prompt is NOT required to imply murder. The scenario implied can be anything at all! (As always, please tag properly!)
    • Your prompt MUST include some kind of relationship. Platonic relationships are indicated by an "&" between the names (e.g., Natsuo & Yuzuko). Non-platonic relationships use "/" (e.g., Natsuo/Yuzuko). Please don't say "Any pairing," either!
  • Fill prompts by replying to the prompt with your Clue-inspired fanwork.
  • Remember to follow the general bonus round rules, outlined here.
  • Here is a prompt/fill index for your convenience.

suga gonna go rescue himself a prince.

***

There is a prince who sleeps at the top of an ivory tower.

But between the gate and the ivory tower there snakes a long path -- through a garden of dark green thorn that whispers in words of poison; past a monstrous shadow that paces at the tower door, ever vigilant. The prince sleeps well. The prince sleeps shielded from those who would harm him.

“Why so difficult, Daichi,” Koushi moans as he shifts the longbow slung over his shoulder. “What did I ever do to you,” Koushi continues, purposefully not thinking about all the very particular things he’s done to Daichi to make his life difficult. A fun kind of difficult, Koushi ends up thinking anyway. Everyone needs a little excitement in their life.

A long wall of bramble crosses the path and a forest spirit daintily crosses its legs where it sits perched on top -- the first guardian, then. It scrunches up its nose as it looks down at Koushi with a certain kind of amusement, and the yellow afternoon sun lights up the green leaf crown in its brown hair so prettily, that just looking at it makes Koushi feel tired.

“I see you finally made it,” the forest spirit smiles. There’s something sharp about its lovely mouth. “But what makes you think I’ll just let you through.”

“Why is everybody so difficult around here,” Koushi says instead. He can feel the pressed flowers in the locket held in his hand hum faintly in empathy; white star asters for remembrance, the blush of morning glories for promises not meant to be broken. It’s what has carried Koushi this far through the forest and he holds it out like the ticket and token it is. “Flowers from the heart of your wood.”

“Where did you even get those.” The forest spirit doesn’t look impressed even as it starts to shift the impossible wall of brambles from the path. A token was a token, and a promise was a promise.

It’s Koushi’s turn to smile now. “A little crow brought them to me, of course. Also one of yours, I believe.” His smile is just as lovely and just as sharp, and Koushi walks down the cleared path with the sound of the forest spirit muttering curses behind him, the occasional “useless” flung in the air with the same frequency as “adorable.”

Koushi can’t stop smiling.

“Well, that’s certainly suspicious,” the monstrous shadow purrs. It’s curled up at the tower gate around a little ball of gold and Koushi is so close, the door of the ivory tower is right there, he just needs to get through one last thing. “So, are you here for a good time.”

Koushi is almost certain that he can see the large shadow leering. This isn’t exactly the way he had expected this encounter to go.

“Just let him through,” the little ball of gold says, and it’s not a little ball of gold at all, but a small yellow cat with white patches. “Let him through and let me sleep, Kuro.”

“Okie dokie,” the monstrous black shadow says as he winks at Koushi. “Remember to use protection, kids.”

Koushi just shoots the guardian a withering stare as he holds up his silver shield pointedly, and passes over the threshold of the tower, passes the staircase that leads up high into the sky, and instead takes the little door right on the inside. It opens up into the little alcove that sits behind the large throne room and the front courtyard. Nobody has managed to map the magical maze of paths that lead through the castle quite yet.

“Hey,” Daichi says. He’s taking the boiling tea kettle off the wood stove. “Sorry about the long way around. Hopefully those idiots didn’t give you too much trouble.”

“Aren’t you supposed to be sleeping,” Koushi squints. There’s still a circlet of gold in Daichi’s dark hair. He hasn’t been sleeping at all.

“I didn’t want to miss you rescuing me,” Daichi replies warmly as he passes Koushi a mug of tea, and when Daichi’s fingers linger on his own, Koushi can’t help but grin bright wide.
