Bonus Round 5: Clue

Clue

SASO 2017 is over, but this round is perpetually open to new fills (no new prompts).

Sometimes, all you need are a few little details to imagine something bigger. This round is inspired by a classic board game with a cast of colorful characters, but for SASO your only limits on "who", "where", and "with what" are what you can imagine (and the SASO fandom list, of course)!

This round closes on 5 August @ 7PM EDT. (Countdown Timer.)

Please read this whole post before commenting to ensure that your team gets the most points possible. (There are changes from last year!)

RULES
  • Submit prompts by commenting to this post with the format of a Clue mystery - "[character] in the [location] with [item]", along with any ship/ot3/etc. from one of our nominated fandoms.
    • Example: Sawamura Daichi in the teachers' lounge with the Hello Kitty! lunchbox
    • The person in your prompt MAY be a member of your ship, but is not REQUIRED to be part of your ship. They must still be a named character from a SASO-nominated fandom.
    • Your place must be a physical location, not a state of being or a state of being. However, this location is not required to be real, nor must it be from the same setting as the characters.
    • The "item" used must be a physical object that the character can hold or manipulate.
    • Unlike the board game, your prompt is NOT required to imply murder. The scenario implied can be anything at all! (As always, please tag properly!)
    • Your prompt MUST include some kind of relationship. Platonic relationships are indicated by an "&" between the names (e.g., Natsuo & Yuzuko). Non-platonic relationships use "/" (e.g., Natsuo/Yuzuko). Please don't say "Any pairing," either!
  • Fill prompts by replying to the prompt with your Clue-inspired fanwork.
  • Remember to follow the general bonus round rules, outlined here.
  • Here is a prompt/fill index for your convenience.

For fills:
First 4 fills by any member of your team: 20 points each
Fills 5-10: 15 points each

All scored content must be created new for this round.

Etc.
If you're hunting through the prompts looking for what to fill, a good trick is to view top-level comments only (see the line of links below this post).

The thing is: they're warned off from stepping a foot in the house on the hill. By the people working in rest stops on the way into town, all of them knowing that there's only ever one reason people come this way at all if they don't live in the area. By the locals who respond to their arrival with a strange mixture of concern and resignation. There's something living in there that doesn't want to be disturbed, that doesn't respond kindly to guests.

It doesn't stop them anyway. Imayoshi has something of an addiction to communicating with spirits; the darker the better. This sort of thing is right up his alley. Kasamatsu is just here because Imayoshi needs someone with him to make sure he gets out of this thing alive. It just so happens that Kasamatsu is good at making sure people live., when vengeful spirits are out the ensure that they don't.

"We have more guests," the girl at the counter of the town's only motel calls to her parents. More, she says, even though Kasamatsu doesn't see anyone else in the motel at all. The parking lot outside is empty. All of the room doors are open except for the ones that he and Imayoshi are shown to, cheap enough that they can afford separate rooms, and that's a plus, at least, when Kasamatsu doesn't really trust Imayoshi enough to share a room with him.

And yet, somehow, he trusts Imayoshi enough to enter a purportedly haunted house with the guy at his six. He's pretty sure he's made worse mistakes in this life. He just can't think of any of them right now.

"That scratching sound is you, isn't it," Kasamatsu mutters, lifting his hatchet just in case. "You're fucking with me."

"Would I do something like that to you?" Imayoshi replies.

"You absolutely would, and we both know it," Kasamatsu replies, and banter with Imayoshi is surprisingly easy. Banter is good, because it makes Kasamatsu feels a little more grounded. He's less likely to jump at every little noise he hears. "You're a shitty person like that."

"You're the one calling your business partner shitty," Imayoshi replies. "What does that make you?"

Before Kasamatsu gets the chance to reply, there's a louder scratching sound. It's frantic, like it's coming directly from the other side of the wall to where Kasamatsu is standing.

Imayoshi cocks his gun in the direction of the noise, his expression grim in the dull, flickering lights of the house.

Then the lights go off all at once, plunging them in darkness as the scrabbling gets louder. Kasamatsu thinks that he can hear snarling, too.

"For the record," Kasamatsu says, raising his hatchet, ready to use it at anything that comes at him, "I've already written in my will that if I die, it's your fucking fault."

Imayoshi laughs, soft and amused, but there's an eagerness to his tone that he always gets when he knows he's close to whatever he's looking for. "We're not dying here, Kasamatsu. Keep going."

I love it! Especially the last line -- heck yeah they're not gonna die there. I love that they're a ghost busting team. I BELIEVE IN THEM.
