Bonus Round 5: Clue
Sometimes, all you need are a few little details to imagine something bigger. This round is inspired by a classic board game with a cast of colorful characters, but for SASO your only limits on "who", "where", and "with what" are what you can imagine (and the SASO fandom list, of course)!
Please read this whole post before commenting to ensure that your team gets the most points possible. (There are changes from last year!)
RULES
- Submit prompts by commenting to this post with the format of a Clue mystery - "[character] in the [location] with [item]", along with any ship/ot3/etc. from one of our nominated fandoms.
- Example: Sawamura Daichi in the teachers' lounge with the Hello Kitty! lunchbox
- The person in your prompt MAY be a member of your ship, but is not REQUIRED to be part of your ship. They must still be a named character from a SASO-nominated fandom.
- Your place must be a physical location, not a state of being or a state of being. However, this location is not required to be real, nor must it be from the same setting as the characters.
- The "item" used must be a physical object that the character can hold or manipulate.
- Unlike the board game, your prompt is NOT required to imply murder. The scenario implied can be anything at all! (As always, please tag properly!)
- Your prompt MUST include some kind of relationship. Platonic relationships are indicated by an "&" between the names (e.g., Natsuo & Yuzuko). Non-platonic relationships use "/" (e.g., Natsuo/Yuzuko). Please don't say "Any pairing," either!
- Fill prompts by replying to the prompt with your Clue-inspired fanwork.

Midorima feels scattered today. It's an especially unlucky day for Cancer and he can feel himself starting to fall sick. He doesn't have enough time before class to buy his lucky item for the day because he has an exam in his first class of the morning and he's running late to school. He barely gets there in time and he's so frazzled that he doesn't even stop for Takao as he walks to their homeroom.
"Hey," Takao grabs the back of his uniform to slow him down. "Miyaji-senpai is feeling pretty murderous about the fact that you didn't show up to morning practice. You'd better have a good excuse for him by the time we have afternoon practice."
Midorima sniffs, frowning at Takao. "If we don't hurry, we're going to be late to our exam."
Takao blinks at him. "Shin-chan, that's not until tomorrow."
It takes Midorima a moment to process this. Pushing his glasses up his nose, he sighs deeply. "I see."
"Are you feeling okay?" Takao asks with genuine concern. "Are you getting sick?"
"I am, in fact." Midorima sighs again, looking around the school hallway and realising for the first time that no one else seems to be in a hurry to get to their homerooms, the way that he was. "Cancer is the lowest ranking on the Oha Asa today."
"That's what you have your lucky item for, though, isn't it?" Takao asks cheerfully, and then pauses. "Wait. You're not carrying anything."
Midorima sighs again. "I did not think that I would have the time to pick up my lucky item on the way to school, when I was running late for the test that we didn't end up having today."
"Wow." Takao pats him on the back sympathetically. "You're having that much of a bad day, huh?"
Midorima grimaces. "I'll accept whatever punishment Miyaji-senpai hands down to me for being so disorganised today."
"I'm sure that he'll understand," Takao replies. "You're sick, and everyone has their off days."
The problem is, Midorima never thought that he would. He's always so careful to make sure that he's on top of everything, and being this disorganised is a truly uncomfortable feeling. He doesn't need to say a single word for Takao to understand. At least he has that.
"Look," Takao tells him, as they walk into their homeroom. "You just need to get through today, right? You can do that, Shin-chan. I believe in you."
Midorima tries, but he can't help how tense he is all day, just waiting for something terrible to happen. He doesn't get any sicker, he doesn't have any surprise exams that he's forgotten about, and despite his apprehension, the rest of the day goes smoothly.
Clearly, that means that basketball practice is going to be where all of his bad luck is going to hit him, all at once.
"I'm not going to practice," Midorima announces, and Takao just sighs and grabs him by the wrist, pulling him to the club room. "Takao. I'm serious. I don't want to. I'll apologise to the senpai later. I don't—"
"Look," Takao says, opening the door to the club room and walking in, so that Midorima can see the orange bowl sitting on the table in the middle of the room. "That's Cancer's lucky item, right? An orange bowl? I asked the senpai to cover for me so that I could sneak out during the lunch break and get you one. You don't have to worry about bad luck any more, do you?"
"You did this for me?" Midorima asks with surprise.
"Nah, I just did it for the rest of the team so that they don't have to deal with you being nervous all afternoon," Takao replies, but his cheeks are tinged pink.
Midorima smiles warmly, picking the bowl up and immediately feeling better for it. "Thank you, Takao."

Karate Bear stares up at Takao from the table, and Takao stares right back. It’s stupid to engage in a staring contest with a stuffed animal who doesn’t have eyelids (Takao’s sister is constantly “beating” her own dolls by laying them down to make their eyes close, and, well, they do end up closing their eyes first, regardless of circumstance) or a stuffed animal at all, but, well. Despite the beady little plastic eyes, Karate Bear is kind of cute. The first time Takao had seen it he’d thought it was mostly ridiculous, though not so much as many of Midorima’s other lucky items. Now, though, what he feels is—fucking stupid, but kind of, well, jealousy.
Midorima’s spent all day paying attention to Karate Bear, checking on it in his bag or his desk; Takao’s kind of shocked Midorima had left Karate Bear with him while he went to the bathroom, though, well. At least Midorima trusts him this far. It’s stupider to be jealous of a stuffed animal than it is to stare it down, honestly; it just goes to show that Takao is entirely ill-equipped for this situation. Liking Midorima, of all people! It makes no sense, but these things never do, and here he is, annoyed that a stupid bear is getting more attention from Midorima than he is.
“Takao,” says Midorima, appearing in the doorway.
“Don’t worry; your boy’s safe and sound.”
He picks up Karate Bear and hands it over; so he’s making sure their fingers touch on purpose, so what? Midorima notices it, too; he nearly fumbles the bear, and, well, that’s interesting. Takao almost tells himself aloud not to read too much into it. It’s just a touch, static maybe (he hadn’t felt anything), the shock of that. Midorima’s not too itno physical affection, closeness, even with his friends.
“Thank you,” Midorima says, and it’s almost a smile, directed at Takao and not at Karate Bear.
If Takao were a lesser man, he would stick his tongue out at the bear to ask him who’s winning now? But Takao is not quite so immature, despite what Miyaji and Midorima seem to think sometimes. He’s not going to gloat or be a sore winner; this isn’t much of a prize anyway. He can do better than an almost-smile from Midorima, at least before the day is over. That’s his challenge to himself, and besides tomorrow Midorima will have a new lucky item and Takao will still be here.
