Bonus Round 5: Clue

Clue

SASO 2017 is over, but this round is perpetually open to new fills (no new prompts).

Sometimes, all you need are a few little details to imagine something bigger. This round is inspired by a classic board game with a cast of colorful characters, but for SASO your only limits on "who", "where", and "with what" are what you can imagine (and the SASO fandom list, of course)!

This round closes on 5 August @ 7PM EDT. (Countdown Timer.)

Please read this whole post before commenting to ensure that your team gets the most points possible. (There are changes from last year!)

RULES
  • Submit prompts by commenting to this post with the format of a Clue mystery - "[character] in the [location] with [item]", along with any ship/ot3/etc. from one of our nominated fandoms.
    • Example: Sawamura Daichi in the teachers' lounge with the Hello Kitty! lunchbox
    • The person in your prompt MAY be a member of your ship, but is not REQUIRED to be part of your ship. They must still be a named character from a SASO-nominated fandom.
    • Your place must be a physical location, not a state of being or a state of being. However, this location is not required to be real, nor must it be from the same setting as the characters.
    • The "item" used must be a physical object that the character can hold or manipulate.
    • Unlike the board game, your prompt is NOT required to imply murder. The scenario implied can be anything at all! (As always, please tag properly!)
    • Your prompt MUST include some kind of relationship. Platonic relationships are indicated by an "&" between the names (e.g., Natsuo & Yuzuko). Non-platonic relationships use "/" (e.g., Natsuo/Yuzuko). Please don't say "Any pairing," either!
  • Fill prompts by replying to the prompt with your Clue-inspired fanwork.
  • Remember to follow the general bonus round rules, outlined here.
  • Here is a prompt/fill index for your convenience.

The stench of burning feathers brought Junpei to the kitchen, where he found Riko and Teppei huddled around a small, charred-looking circle on the table, and a heap of ash inside it. It was their new kitchen table. Junpei opened his mouth to say something sharp when both Riko and Teppei looked at him -- Riko with narrowed eyes and Teppei with that kind deceptive softness that Junpei knew not to trust.

“What are you two doing?” Junpei asked instead.

Riko pursed her lips and sighed. “Isn’t it obvious? We’re doing magic.”

Neither Junpei nor Riko were magic users. At least, not officially, though Junpei had long believed Riko’s analytical abilities amounted to as much. And Seirin, where the three of them had met, wasn’t listed as a magical high school. But Teppei had once been recognized as one of the nation’s most promising young magic-users, along with four other kids in his year. Everyone called them the Uncrowned Kings and made a fuss until the next year saw an even more powerful and much more ruthless coven came to prominence.

As far as Junpei knew, Teppei hadn’t practiced magic for a long, long time. He pulled a chair next to Riko and hissed at her -- “If we get caught with magical contraband, then we’re screwed.”

Riko waved away his concerns with a smile. “They’re Teppei’s feathers. This is Teppei’s circle. We’ll be fine.”

Junpei hesistated and looked over at Teppei. “But you haven’t … you know, since Hanamiya did what what he did.”

“I can do it,” Teppei said, sounding confident. But Riko put a hand on his shoulder for a moment and looked at Junpei. Junpei sighed and said, “What are you two trying to do?”

“Phoenix feathers have regenerative properties,” Riko said, barely keeping the excitement from her voice. “When I saw them at the marketplace yesterday, I could hardly believe it. But look -- they’re genuine.” She gestured over to the burnt circle and Junpei saw that the heap of ash he had seen earlier had been replaced with three gleaming red feathers, tipped with gold on the ends. He took one up and felt the deep magic running through it. Despite himself, he was awed.

“Do you think it could …?” He looked at Teppei.

“Don’t think of it,” Teppei said with a smile. “A few phoenix feathers won’t fix sinews like that.”

“No,” Riko agreed with a sigh. She took a feather and tickled Teppei’s neck and then Junpei’s face. Junpei scowled at her, but half-heartedly. Teppei only beamed in pure, unadulterated delight. “They’re only beautiful things. But aren’t you glad I brought them?”
