Bonus Round 6: Remixes
The goal is in sight, participants! Let's finish strong by drawing upon the thousands of fanworks you've created this summer and putting them in new lights.
Please read this whole post before commenting to ensure that your team gets the most points possible.
RULES
- Choose a fanwork created by other participants in a previous main or bonus round of SASO 2017 and create a new piece based on it. You could create a fanart of another work, an FST inspired by a piece’s style, a podfic of someone else's work, retell another person’s fanfic from another point of view, create a new fanfic inspired by a great piece of art... go wild! Sequels do count as remixes, with limits: "And then the same thing happened again" is not ok, but "And then some totally new thing happened" is fine, and please don't create only sequels.
- You cannot remix your teammates' works. You cannot remix your own works. You can remix fills that were created to your own prompts.
- You can remix a remix, but if we see any remix chains we'll be upset, so do this with moderation and restraint.
- You must have permission from the original creator. There's a blanket permissions post here (feel free to add yourself to it!), or you can leave a comment on their original post asking for permission.
- You must include the dreamwidth link to the original work in your post.
- Since all fills are based on previous works, there will be no prompts for this round. Simply post your fill as a comment in response to this post.
- Remember to follow the general bonus round rules, outlined here.

SCORING
These numbers apply to your team as a whole, not each individual teammate. Make as many prompts/fills as you want!For prompts: 5 points each (maximum of 50 prompt points per team per round)
For fills:First 4 fills by any member of your team: 20 points each
Fills 5-10: 15 points each
Fills 11-20: 5 points each
Fills 21-50: 2 points each
Fills 51+: 1 point each
All scored content must be created new for this round.

i thought about doing the "southern ancelstierre" version since ps said she wanted to see it but then i figured that might not count as a remix so much... i also didn't end up getting to touching on the mogget & kuramochi relationship too much but!!!!! i tried. i also got a bit confused about what ancelstierran technology would be at this point in the timeline but THIS IS FINE, it's an au, we can do what we want.

the abhorsen arrives at the perimeter just as the mist starts rising, flanked on either side by deceptive beasts. on one side, there's a white cat, green eyes glinting in the gloom. on the other, a great black dog, sharp muzzled and amber eyed, hair standing up every which way, half disappearing in the the dusk. colonel yuki tetsuya doesn't blink because he's been on the perimeter more than long enough not to. he recognizes the bright shade of the abhorsen's hair, the mahogany bell handles hanging down from the bandolier across his chest and, more than anything else, he recognizes the purposeful stride of someone who knows what they're doing.
"colonel," the abhorsen says, once he's in range, inclining his head.
"abhorsen," tetsuya replies. he doesn't salute but the urge to do it is there.
"i still don't know what you expect me to do here," the cat says, and tetsuya does start at that but the abhorsen waves it aside.
"sorry about the delay," he says. "we ran into a bit of trouble."
tetsuya shakes his head. "no, thank you for coming." there's a chill creeping into the air, something sinister and dark. the abhorsen is looking around with a critical eye, examining the ancelstierran machinery in varioius stages of failure. army command keeps insisting that it must be poor maintenance and tetsuya's given up getting them to understand otherwise.
"i see," the abhorsen says, head tilted, clearly listening to something tetsuya can't hear. "i see we've got work to do. kuramochi?"
the black dog wags its tail before sitting back on its haunches and throwing its head back, letting out a long, low bay that tetsuya feels all the way down to his bones, locking his joints in place for a moment before the sound seems to push past him.
"that should hold for a bit. colonel, tell me, are your charter mages ready?" the abhorsen is looking at tetsuya expectantly and tetsuya nods, clearing his throat.
"yes," he says, turning to gesture at the group of their best charter mages, ragtag as the are.
"wonderful," the abhorsen says. "please have them go with kuramochi and mogget—" here the cat hisses, sullen, and the dog bares its teeth seeming almost to smile— "kuramochi will instruct them."
"i'd still rather go with you," the dog says, its voice somehow familiar to tetsuya's ears, at the same time the cat starts yowling about how ryousuke owes him fish dinner for a year.
"yes, yes," the abhorsen says waving them both off. "let's get started, please. we have a lot of work to do."
