Bonus Round 7: Free For All

Free-For-All

Let's finish SASO 2017 with a bang. This bonus bonus round allows any kind of prompt imaginable in any format. The sky's the limit!

SASO 2017 is over, but this round is perpetually open to new fills (no new prompts).

Please read this whole post before commenting to ensure that your team gets the most points possible.

RULES
  • Submit prompts by commenting to this post with literally any kind of prompt, along with any ship/ot3/etc. from one of our nominated fandoms, with the following caveats:
    • Large image prompts should be thumbnailed and linked to, as explained here.
    • Fanart/fanfiction/fanwork prompts are only allowed if you created the fanwork yourself or if you have explicit permission to use it, and proof of permission must be linked to in your prompt header.
    • Quote prompts can come from almost anything, but please don't quote personal conversations you've had or overheard.
    • Reposting prompts is fine, but be respectful and keep crediting in mind. A prompt belongs to the person who posted it to this round, and who can fill it is determined by whether or not they are on that person's team.
      • If reposting a br2 (tic tac toe) prompt, please post each prompt square as its own individual comment. Posting tic tac toe boards wholesale will crash our br scorer and the bonus doesn't apply for this round, anyway.
    • Your prompt MUST include some kind of relationship. Platonic relationships are indicated by an "&" between the names (e.g., Akira & Hikaru). Non-platonic relationships use "/" (e.g., Akira/Hikaru). Please don't say "Any pairing," either!
  • Besides that, if you want to prompt something, regardless of format—even formats not previously allowed in SASO—go right ahead. If you're unsure you can ask us for clarification, but tbh just go for the gold.
  • Fill prompts by replying to the prompt with a fanwork.
  • Remember to follow the general bonus round rules, outlined here.
  • Here is a prompt/fill index for your convenience.

SCORING
These numbers apply to your team as a whole, not each individual teammate. Make as many prompts/fills as you want!

For prompts: 5 points each (maximum of 50 prompt points per team per round)

For fills:
First 4 fills by any member of your team: 20 points each
Fills 5-10: 15 points each
Fills 11-20: 5 points each
Fills 21-50: 2 points each
Fills 51+: 1 point each

All scored content must be created new for this round.

Etc.
If you're hunting through the prompts looking for what to fill, a good trick is to view top-level comments only (see the line of links below this post).

Well this turned out more Tsukki than Kuroo so I'm sorry! But I really loved spreading all the BNHA quirks around to the Haikyuu characters.

***

"Wanna spar after this?" Hinata asked, bouncing up and down. Tsukishima gave him the most board, dirtiest look possible when sweat had his glasses sliding down his nose. He hated pair exercises to start with, but being stuck with Hinata on an outdoor rescue course was the absolutely worst. Since Hinata's energy all came from storing sunlight, on the outdoor courses he literally NEVER ran out of it.

"Well, do you?" Hinata asked, oblivious. On every hop, small points of lights crackled over his fists and at the ends of his hair.

"Of course not?" Tsukishima said. "Who wants to spar after already running villain capture simulations all afternoon?"

"Kageyama," Hinata said promptly. Tsukishima always forgot that moot questions were lost on him. "Noya-san. Tanaka-senpai. Bokuto-senpai. Lev. Yesterday Yamaguchi—"

"Shut UP," Tsukshima snarled, at his limit. Hinata craned his neck to look at Tsukishima, blinking. "And watch your direction! It'll be YOUR fault if—"

"FOUND YOUUUU!" Nishinoya called joyously, screeching around the corner.

"Oh hell," Tsukishima muttered, just as Nishinoya slammed into him at top superspeed, not pulling any punches, the momentum taking Tsukishima the entire way to the ground with a force that knocked the air out of his lungs and his glasses off his face. When his vision cleared to its usual fuzziness, Tsukishima saw Asahi over Nishinoya's shoulder, simply holding Hinata up by the wrists, Hinata kicking his feet ineffectually.

"We could hear you guys like half a block away," Nishinoya said, handing Tsukishima back his glasses. As usual, he kept chattering almost as fast as he ran, not giving Tsukishima a chance to answer. "Wasn't the point of this for the villains to be stealthy and hiding? You two really suck at it. And you're gonna break these, Tsukki, you need proper sports ones, you know with a strap like —"

"Get OFF." Tsukishima snatched his glasses back and shoved Nishinoya off him, climbing to his feet and dusting himself off.

"Wanna stay after with us?" Nishinoya asked. "Your hand-to-hand needs a lotta work too."

Tsukishima turned on his heel without answering, putting his smudged glasses back on his face and stomping back to the staging area. The sooner they gone done telling him all the shit they'd done wrong, the sooner Tsukishima could peel off his sweaty costume, take a shower, and go the hell home.

"Tsukki, did you win?" Yamaguchi asked as soon as Tsukishima trudged into sight, running up to him. "Kageyama and I beat Lev and Kenma! Well, it was an accident cause Lev accidentally zapped Kenma instead of us but—"

"No," Tsukishima interrupted bluntly, making Yamaguchi's mouth snap shut. "We lost."

"Nice work," Kageyama snorted. Dark Shadow was flopped over Kageyama's shoulder, not much bigger than a large cat, clearly enjoying the blazing afternoon about as much as Tsukishima.

"Sorry, Tsukki," Yamaguchi said, normal pink skin turning almost magenta under his freckles with his blush. "Hey, but, let's practice after, huh? Suga-senpai's gonna help me with hand-to-hand, and the senpai from Nekoma said they'd spar—"

"I just want to shower and go to bed," Tsukishima snapped irritably. Yamaguchi frowned at him. "What? If you idiots want to run yourselves into the ground, that's not my problem, but I'm tired and it's hot and I'm done."

"Well, not quite done," a voice purred behind them, and Tsukishima turned to scowl at Kuroo. Kuroo only grinned more sharply, cat eyes slit and tail twitching in amusement. "Someone's got a punishment hill run yet, don't they? These guys are waiting for you." He jerked his thumb over his shoulder to where Lev, Kenma, and Hinata were standing at the bottom of the hill designated for punishment sprints. Bokuto and Akaashi were surprisingly also joining the group of match losers.

"Akaaaashi," Bokuto was groaning, wings drooping so they were almost trailing on the ground. "I'm sorryyyyyyy."

"Don't drag your feathers, Bokuto-san," Akaashi scolded. "You're giving Kuroo-san way too much satisfaction."

"Better get to it!" Kuroo said brightly. He leaned into Tsukishima's personal space, sly grin stretching almost ear to ear. "We've got plans for you after this, Glasses."

Tsukishima sulked the entire time he was huffing and puffing up and back down the hill, his hardening quirk no help at all with the burn of his thighs and calves after only a minute of sprinting. Why was everybody so into this? Didn't they have enough sense to save some of their energy for living? What was the point of killing yourself over extra practice when they were only first years? Akiteru had done tons of extra practice and training camps and he was still only in B class in the end. There was no point in working yourself to death over nothing, Tsukishima thought, clenching his jaw.

Back at the bottom of the hill, Tsukshima threw himself down on the grass on his back, panting harshly and glaring at the blue sky. He wasn't getting up. He wasn't going to extra practice. Nothing anybody could say would make him do it.

Kuroo's head popped into Tsukishima's field of vision, and Tsukishima glared harder at him, even though he was at least blocking the sun. Kuroo's grin was still there, but smaller, and he tossed a bottle of water to land on Tsukishima's stomach.

"Thanks," Tsukishima said grudgingly, sitting up and uncapping it. He raised an eyebrow when Kuroo sat down in the grass beside him, arms around his knees. "What?"

"Wanna talk about it?" Kuroo asked, too cheerful. Tsukishima gave him a pointed glare. "C'mon, Glasses, I'll teach you all of Bokuto's best tricks if you practice with us."

"Heyyyy," Bokuto whined, flopping down in front of Kuroo. "Bro, can you get the back? There's still grass in my feathers."

"Yeah, yeah," Kuroo said agreeably. He put his hands on the joints of Bokuto's wings where they melted into his back, the back of Bokuto's T-shirt cut out to accommodate them, pulling out bits of grass and smoothing the feathers with the half attention of long practice. "Anyway, you don't like losing, right, Glasses? So we'll help you out, c'mon."

"Why are you bugging me?" Tsukishima grumbled, yanking up a handful of grass and scattering pieces. "I'm not even on your team. Go bully your own first years. Why is everyone here crazy? It's not like one week of killing yourselves is going to make that big a difference in the stupid sports tournament!"

"A'course you don't like it," Bokuto said without turning his head. "Because you lose all the time. It's when you win that stuff like that's fun. When you beat a super tough opponent and the crowd is cheering and you're all fired up, that's the best! That's when you get hooked on it."

"Plus sunburst kid is totally kicking your ass," Kuroo drawled, giving Bokuto's wings a last pat before shoving him away. Kuroo climbed to his feet and stuck out his hand. "So are you coming or what? Because your hand-to-hand really sucks. Didn't anybody ever teach you to block?"

"Like you're an expert," Tsukishima grumbled, grabbing Kuroo's hand to haul himself up. With a grin, Kuroo yanked him off-balance and twisted him around, until somehow he had Tsukishima's arm pinned behind his back and was chuckling in Tsukishima's ear.

"As a matter of fact, I sorta am." He laughed again when Tsukishima jerked forward, out of his grip.

"Hey! Hey, can we come too?" Hinata exclaimed, waving and flailing as he dragged Lev towards them. "We wanna spar too!"

"Of course, little bro!" Bokuto bellowed, putting his hands on his hips and sweeping his wings out wide, the gust of wind ruffling Hinata's hair. Hinata exclaimed how cool, all but hopping up and down, and Bokuto preened from praise. "The more the merrier!"

"Kill me," Tsukishima grumbled.

"Oh, we plan to," Kuroo assured, throwing an arm around his shoulders to drag him along.

Prompt: repost from AU round bc I still totally want this

Office worker AU. Tsukishima is a normal office worker whose life is incredibly hard for any of the following reasons:
1. Kuroo is a senpai in his section who looks way too good in his suit and tie and keeps dragging tsukki out for drinks by his tie. they make out.
2. Tsukishima's office has the shittiest copier in the world so he has to keep calling the cute copy repair dude with the ridiculous hair who thinks Tsukki is breaking the copier on purpose just to call him again. They make out.
3. Tsukishima is the IT guy who has to keep answering the service desk requests for Kuroo which are plainly ridiculous excuses for Tsukki to have to trek up to his floor and endure comments about how often he 'services' Kuroo's 'equipment.' They make out.

This is a really interesting AU!

***

“Thank you for this opportunity!” Tatara said, bowing to Mr. Koumoto, the restaurant owner. Mr. Koumoto chuckled.

“Your dad and I have known each other for a while, and I need the help; it’s no trouble. Although,” he frowned. “You’re awfully young. Are you sure you want to work? Wouldn’t you rather be out playing with your friends?”

“I, ah, I need the money,” Tatara said, fiddling with his hands. “I want to be able to pay my way.”

“Well, that’s very admirable,” Mr. Koumoto replied. “Today should be one of our lighter days, so you just concentrate on learning, all right?”

“Thank you, sir!”

It was a slow day, but Tatara did his best to help out, fetching water and taking orders and seeing to the few customers they had. In between, he stood up front, daydreaming about dance.

“You have beautiful posture,” said a voice from the booth next to him. Startled, Tatara looked down to see a pretty girl his own age, smiling up at him. “Do you do some sort of sport?”

“Ah, yes,” he replied, a little embarrassed. After spending so much time with Shizuku and Mako, he shouldn’t be embarrassed because a pretty girl spoke to him, but some things were hard to shake.

“Really? What sport?” She tilted her head, and Tatara looked at his hands, fidgeting.

“Akira! Don’t bother the poor boy. He’s helping me out because you won’t,” Mr. Koumoto called.

“Sorry!” she called back. “I live here,” she explained to Tatara. “But the restaurant is empty right now anyways, so tell me, what sport is it you do?”

“It’s- I-,” Tatara took a breath and squared his shoulders. He’d told himself he wasn’t going to be awkward about this. “Competitive dance.”

The girl- Akira- clasped her hands together delightedly.

“I knew it!” she beamed. “You don’t seem like an ordinary person, you know. I do it too, you know.”

“You like dance?”

“Mm, something like that,” the smile disappeared, and she looked down at the table. “I’m actually looking for a leader right now.”

“Really?” Tatara asked. She was so pretty, she shouldn’t have any trouble finding a leader. Still- “I, ah, I am looking for a partner.”

Akira looked up at him.

“Oh? Well, how about it, then?” She stood and took Tatara’s hands in her own. “Would you like to go to the Mikasa Cup together?”

It happened so quickly that Tatara sometimes had trouble believing it was real. He and Akira-chan registered as an official couple, and practiced when they could in the studio.

“How did you get someone like her?” Sengoku asked, grinning. “She seems like she might be a bit much for you.” His eyebrow’s waggled, emphasizing what he meant by much. Tatara frowned and blushed.

“Akira-chan is a very good partner,” he said.

And she was. She moved gracefully and well, and it was hardly any trouble to move her where he wanted. But still. Something wasn’t quite right.

“Is everything ok?” he asked one day after practice. She had seemed distant and almost sad throughout the afternoon, and he wasn’t sure why.

“It’s nothing,” she said, smiling, but he knew her better now than when they first met, knew how she moved, and he could tell the smile was fake.

“Akira-chan.” He looked her in the eye. After a moment, her smile fell and she looked away.

“It’s nothing,” she repeated. “I was just thinking about my old leader.”

“Oh.” Tatara felt his stomach sink. Of course. He was getting better, he thought, but from the little things Akira had let slip here and there, he knew her old leader had been amazing, He wondered why they hadn’t stayed together. “He was good, wasn’t he?”

“What?” Akira looked surprised, and began to laugh. “Tatara, my old leader wasn’t a boy; she was a girl.”

“What?” Now it was Tatara’s turn to look surprised.

“Girls can compete in pairs through middle school,” Akira explained. “But you can’t enter real competitions like that.”

“Oh,” Tatara nodded slowly. He remembered now, someone mentioning Chizuru used to compete in girl pairs. It hadn’t really sunk in. “So you two were friends?”

“Something like that,” replied Akira. The sad, distant look was back, but this time he couldn’t think of anything to say.

Tatara met Akira’s old leader one afternoon at the restaurant, and was surprised to discover she was the girl who sat in front of him in class.

He was even more surprised at the person Akira became, sly and insinuating and nasty. The two of them traded barbs, each one sharpened by long association, and he watched as each one hit home.

“Tatara and I are going to the Mikasa Cup together,” Akira smirked, linking her arm in his. He didn’t move, didn’t say anything. He was uncomfortable and all-too-aware he was just a prop in whatever there was between Akira and this tall, red haired girl. “He’s a great leader; almost as good as you. We’d love to see you there.” Her eyes widened. “Oh! But you can’t find a leader of your own, can you? Is it really true that some old man tried to feel you up? Poor, poor Chinatsu.” She pouted, and Chinatsu’s cheeks turned splotchy and red as she glared.

“That’s none of your business,” she snapped. She dropped the box of shoes and clothes she’d brought on a table.

“Well, maybe you can come cheer us on!” Akira said, smiling brightly. He could feel how tense she was, though, and he didn’t understand. Before today, he thought Akira was friends with her old leader. He hadn’t expected this. He hadn’t thought she could be so mean.

“As if I would cheer on someone as selfish as you,” Chinatsu spat. “Doll partner. I’ll find a leader, and we’ll destroy you before you get to the Mikasa Cup.”

“Oh?” Akira leaned forward, looking up at Chinatsu through her eyelashes. “Good luck with that.”

Chinatsu stared at her for a moment, furious, then turned and left without another word. Akira watched her go, and Tatara watched Akira. He wasn’t sure how to categorize the look on her face—was it longing? Sadness? Whatever it was, it didn’t match the harsh words she’d just been saying.

“Akira-chan?” he said, hesitantly. She started, and looked at him as if she’d forgotten he was there, despite the fact their arms were still linked.

“Isn’t she terrible?” Akira said, lightly, but he could still feel how tense she was; even if he couldn’t he would have known something was wrong.

“Akira-chan. What happened between you two?” He looked her in the eye, tried to make his voice firm. This was important, he thought; it was important to Akira, and it was important to their partnership.

“She left me,” Akira said in a small voice. “She left me, and she left dance, and I—“ she broke off, and stepped away from him. Tatara took a breath.

“Akira-chan, please. I want to know.” He liked Akira, and if he couldn’t be as good a leader as Chinatsu had been, maybe he could be a better friend. “It’s all right.”

Akira looked at him, her face more open than he had ever seen it.

“You won’t think badly of me?” She sounded like she might cry. Tatara’s heart hurt.

“I won’t,” he said. Akira took a breath and sat down at a booth. She motioned for him to sit across from her, and, after a guilty look around the empty-restaurant, he complied.

“Ok,” she said. And began.

Makoto was an extremely good shot, which was annoying because there was really nothing else about him that told of a cold-hearted killer. He cried during romantic movies, for example, and would bring home every stray in the world if he could.

He also brought down a sniper that was aiming at Sousuke’s head -- and not a moment too soon, either -- and for that, Sousuke was forced to be grateful. They made pretty good partners, even Sousuke had to admit. It would be a pain if Makoto ever flipped alliances and Sousuke ended up on the wrong side of his muzzle.

They'd started sleeping together almost as soon as they'd become partners. Makoto was always coming over -- he was an incurable busybody, and also, a terrible cook who rather wouldn’t -- and since he was there, Sousuke had to set out a table setting for him too. It was only polite, after all, and Sousuke’s mother had raised her son to be polite.

“Do you like it?” Sousuke asked him once, while Makoto had stretched on his couch after dinner, a picture of complete satisfaction.

“Like what?” Makoto opened up one bright, green eye and trained it at Sousuke. His relaxed posture was pure bullshit, though of course Sousuke was far to polite to point that out.

“Our line of work, I mean,” Sousuke said casually.

Makoto sat up a little, his eyes narrowing a little. They did not, as a rule, talk about their line of work at home or really anywhere else besides at work. It was the system, and it worked. Compartmentalization was a beautiful thing.

“We really don’t have same job…” Makoto began.

“That’s right, Tachibana. You like to keep your hands clean, don’t you?”

“When I can,” he said, reaching up and pulling Sousuke down to him.

*

It wasn’t a surprise that Makoto turned out to be a double-agent, Sousuke argued with himself as he ran across the deserted courtyard and into a long, shadowed hallway. He was in an abandoned school and every corner looked the same. They hadn’t spoken since that day and even then Makoto hadn’t had much to say for himself. He’d only shrugged and muttered something about greater loyalties, which was infuriating.

Sousuke took a look around and realized he didn’t recognize where he was at all. He was thoroughly lost. He checked his phone, but of course, there was no signal.

He felt rather than heard Makoto come up behind him and then, he definitely felt the coldness the muzzle of the pistol against his back.

“Sousuke,” Makoto said warmly. “Hello again.”

“Don’t banter, just shoot,” Sousuke said, exasperated.

(But Makoto didn’t -- yet.)
