Bonus Round 7: Free For All
Let's finish SASO 2017 with a bang. This bonus bonus round allows any kind of prompt imaginable in any format. The sky's the limit!
Please read this whole post before commenting to ensure that your team gets the most points possible.
RULES
- Submit prompts by commenting to this post with literally any kind of prompt, along with any ship/ot3/etc. from one of our nominated fandoms, with the following caveats:
- Large image prompts should be thumbnailed and linked to, as explained here.
- Fanart/fanfiction/fanwork prompts are only allowed if you created the fanwork yourself or if you have explicit permission to use it, and proof of permission must be linked to in your prompt header.
- Quote prompts can come from almost anything, but please don't quote personal conversations you've had or overheard.
- Reposting prompts is fine, but be respectful and keep crediting in mind. A prompt belongs to the person who posted it to this round, and who can fill it is determined by whether or not they are on that person's team.
- If reposting a br2 (tic tac toe) prompt, please post each prompt square as its own individual comment. Posting tic tac toe boards wholesale will crash our br scorer and the bonus doesn't apply for this round, anyway.

The steady hum of the air conditioner filled the otherwise silent room except for the quiet breathing and erratic cicadas outside. Asahi watched as Nishinoya slept, his lips ever so pouting and grumbling as he rested. It was abnormally adorable and heartwarming. He had been watching him for the past hour or so. Nishinoya was never a night owl, preferring the early mornings compared to the peaceful nights.
Yet, what one lover may be the other may not, Asahi was definitely not a morning person. He often caught himself in the eve of witching hour. Still, he simply could not resist the brilliance of Nishinoya’s eyes offering to rest together. Now, here they were, snuggling together, Nishinoya’s head resting on top of Asahi’s arm. As if it was a scene derived from a romance movie; a calm before a storm.
His mind wandered as his eyes stared at random inanimate objects in the room; the air conditioner, the desk, the windows, curtains, and back to his desk again. Irritation set in as he closed his eyes to try to sleep to no avail. He just couldn’t rest at this early of a time unlike Nishinoya. Abruptly, Nishinoya nestled in closer on top of Asahi’s bare chest. His soft cheek was cold compared to his warm chest.
Asahi wondered if that kind of position was really that comfortable for Nishinoya, but seeing how the tiny man could be asleep at 23:30 anything was possible. Inhaling, exhaling, Asahi tried to match his own breathing with Nishinoya’s slumberous one. Gently, he awkwardly positioned his arms to embrace his adorably small lover. Whenever Asahi hugged Nishinoya, he was always reminded just how small this man really was. Despite Nishinoya’s agitation though, he would most likely be enraged if he ever said so out loud, but Asahi just really loved how small Nishinoya was.
Tiny. Miniscule. Small. Words to describe what Nishinoya physically was. Yet, despite being so little, Nishinoya had the biggest personality and confidence Asahi had ever seen compacted in a 160cm body.
His embrace on him held tighter, and he nuzzled on top of his head, bestowing a small kiss. Under his breath, he bellowed many small ‘I love yous,’ but none of them could get across just how large his affections were towards this man. This ludicrously cute, fun sized, but big boy of a man. Asahi’s skin felt how cold Nishinoya’s were and frowned. Maybe he should lower the AC?
Motioning towards the AC remote, Nishinoya grumbled in disapproval. Asahi stopped, smiling in resignment and shifted back to his original position. Once again, hugging the smaller man into a tighter embrace, smelling the faint shampoo of his hair and relishing again in the thought of how small the man was. They stayed in that position, Asahi listened to the distant chatter of the cicadas, the low humdrum of the air conditioner, and the low breaths of Nishinoya as they shared body heat. Slowly, Asahi fell asleep in what felt like bliss.

Secretly, Asahi has always found it a really cute idiosyncrasy of their relationship – even before they had started dating, as far back as their first training camp together, he couldn’t help but notice the irony of Nishinoya being a morning person while he was more of a night owl. Had their parents known any better, perhaps they would have each other’s first names, and Asahi would be the one called ‘evening’ while Noya was ‘morning sun.’
But Asahi kind of prefers it this way. It would be too embarrassing to say it out loud, but in some way the irony supports his secret hope that they were made for each other. Logically it’s all just a coincidence, or maybe it’s true what they say about opposites attracting. Either way, Asahi finds peace when he thinks about all the ways in which he and Nishinoya are so different from one another and yet still so perfect together.
It can be a little disappointing sometimes, on nights like this one where Noya is sound asleep before ten p.m. and Asahi is left awake knowing that sleep will continue to elude him. But he goes through his nighttime routine early anyways, letting a sleepy boyfriend lean on him as their brush their teeth together in the bathroom and then use his torso as a pillow.
“Are you sure you wanna stay in bed?” Nishinoya had asked between yawns, even as he was getting comfortable cuddling up on Asahi. “I know it’s boring for you.”
“I’m sure,” Asahi had agreed, running his fingers lazily through Noya’s soft hair. He liked it when it was freshly washed and unstyled, mainly because so few people ever got to see Nishinoya that way. “I have my phone, too. Don’t worry.”
“Mmhmm,” Nishinoya had hummed incomprehensibly, whatever words he meant to say melting in his mouth as he drifted off to sleep.
That had been an hour go. Asahi’s still stroking Nishinoya’s scalp idly as he types out a last text to Suga. Suga sends a kissy faced emoticon back in response to Asahi’s ‘goodnight,’ and Asahi smiles before putting his phone down on the nightstand. He clicks his lamp off and settles in beside the warm growth attached to him.
Nishinoya snores, and unlike most people who will deny it in the morning, he’s fairly shameless about it. The doctor told him it’s because his sleep posture is poor and recommended pillows he should try, but Noya is also stubborn and claims that after a year of sharing a bed he can’t sleep on anything but Asahi’s chest anymore, says that he likes the sound of Asahi’s heartbeat resonating in his ear. It’s embarrassing, but Asahi can’t sleep without the heat that sticks to him everywhere he and Noya are touching throughout the night either. He once confessed that the smell of Nishinoya’s shampoo is more soothing to him than any soy candle he’s tried, and now Noya travels to a shop an hour away to make sure he gets the same brand every time.
Before Nishinoya, nighttime was for unfiltered thoughts to flit about in Asahi’s mind, getting him agitated and keeping him up. Now he has a fixed point to focus on, someone in his arms to ground him when all the things in the world to be anxious about threaten to take him far away. He presses a kiss to Nishinoya’s head, and Noya grunts incomprehensibly and clings tighter to him. When Asahi closes his eyes, sleep welcomes him readily.

It should be quiet with everyone else asleep, Asahi thinks, and yet somehow, even though there's no one shouting across the gym and no shoes squeaking on the floor, it feels even louder now. With the number of people at the training camp, they're all packed together pretty tightly, and he can hear the slow, steady breathing of everyone asleep around him. There are at least two people snoring on the other side of the room, and the ceiling fans whir loudly overhead. Next to him, Noya shifts in his sleep, and one of his legs ends up on Asahi's futon. It's amazing just how much space someone so small can manage to take up.
And if Noya can take up that much space, what will happen if he shifts in his sleep? What if he accidentally hits someone next to him? Or rolls over onto them and crushes them by mistake? Or what if he snores like the people across the room and wakes someone else up by accident? Or what if he oversleeps and misses the first practice of the morning.
But what if he doesn't sleep and ends up too tired tomorrow? What if he misses a spike because he can't focus properly? What if he lets his teammates down?
Everyone else seems to be sleeping soundly, but his mind flits about the room like a restless bird—one minute worrying about what could go wrong if he doesn't sleep, and the next worrying about what could happen if he does.
He sighs and rolls over again, hoping that maybe this time a change of position will finally let him rest. Noya rustles around behind him, and Asahi thinks he's just shifting in his sleep again until Noya's arm drapes across his shoulder.
"Can't sleep?" Noya whispers, his breath tickling the back of Asahi's neck.
"I'm fine. Go back to sleep."
"You couldn't sleep last time either," Noya says. "You worry too much. It's going to be fine." He tangles his fingers in Asahi's hair tugs gently, pulling him back down onto his futon.
They're lying side by side now, but Noya doesn't let go; it's the same sort of pressure as when he pulls Asahi in for a kiss, or when he combs Asahi's hair out after a long practice. It's a familiar feeling, and like a bird returning to a favorite perch, Asahi's restless mind slowly stops its fluttering and settles back into the comfort of Noya's touch until there is nothing else, and Asahi sleeps.

i love how noya reassures asahi while he's half asleep, aha. it's so nice, the steady comforting presence he holds for asahi. this was really sweet, i feel so calm after reading it. thank you for this fill (:
