Bonus Round 7: Free For All

Free-For-All

Let's finish SASO 2017 with a bang. This bonus bonus round allows any kind of prompt imaginable in any format. The sky's the limit!

SASO 2017 is over, but this round is perpetually open to new fills (no new prompts).

Please read this whole post before commenting to ensure that your team gets the most points possible.

RULES
  • Submit prompts by commenting to this post with literally any kind of prompt, along with any ship/ot3/etc. from one of our nominated fandoms, with the following caveats:
    • Large image prompts should be thumbnailed and linked to, as explained here.
    • Fanart/fanfiction/fanwork prompts are only allowed if you created the fanwork yourself or if you have explicit permission to use it, and proof of permission must be linked to in your prompt header.
    • Quote prompts can come from almost anything, but please don't quote personal conversations you've had or overheard.
    • Reposting prompts is fine, but be respectful and keep crediting in mind. A prompt belongs to the person who posted it to this round, and who can fill it is determined by whether or not they are on that person's team.
      • If reposting a br2 (tic tac toe) prompt, please post each prompt square as its own individual comment. Posting tic tac toe boards wholesale will crash our br scorer and the bonus doesn't apply for this round, anyway.
    • Your prompt MUST include some kind of relationship. Platonic relationships are indicated by an "&" between the names (e.g., Akira & Hikaru). Non-platonic relationships use "/" (e.g., Akira/Hikaru). Please don't say "Any pairing," either!
  • Besides that, if you want to prompt something, regardless of format—even formats not previously allowed in SASO—go right ahead. If you're unsure you can ask us for clarification, but tbh just go for the gold.
  • Fill prompts by replying to the prompt with a fanwork.
  • Remember to follow the general bonus round rules, outlined here.
  • Here is a prompt/fill index for your convenience.

For prompts: 5 points each (maximum of 50 prompt points per team per round)

For fills:
First 4 fills by any member of your team: 20 points each
Fills 5-10: 15 points each
Fills 11-20: 5 points each
Fills 21-50: 2 points each
Fills 51+: 1 point each

All scored content must be created new for this round.

Etc.
If you're hunting through the prompts looking for what to fill, a good trick is to view top-level comments only (see the line of links below this post).

Seven days. Modern technology means that Shuuzou can calculate the distance between them to startling accuracy, down to the meter (to the foot; he’s over here now even though none of this damn measurement makes any sense, especially fahrenheit temperature) from where he is now, straddling a motorcycle that seems empty with just him on it, the one he returns to the same place at the end of every night, that no one’s realized goes missing yet (looks like no one ever rides it except for him, anyway) to where Tatsuya is, feet buried in the snow in Akita. Shuuzou’s got the weather report up on his phone, the city added right after LA, so he can just open the app and swipe to the right and see, because some days they don’t talk and Tatsuya doesn’t tell him.

Seven days. They haven’t spoken, and Shuuzou feels his fingers fraying, wearing thin like they’re stretched across the ocean and Tatsuya won't touch them, pulled too taut and eroded by the waves, rusted out by all the salt in the ocean. A week isn’t that long, not in the scheme of things, the time they’ve spent apart, some fights they’d had when Tatsuya had still been here. But Shuuzou had known where to find him, then, more than just a GPS location, a street view of his school grounds, the gymnasium where he plays basketball. But now, the silence could mea anything; there is nothing to remind him that he and Tatsuya are of the same world, the same universe. It’s as if Tatsuya has willingly freed himself from orbiting the same sun, a rogue planet that you only see in the vicinity of another star once before it's gone forever.

Shuuzou doesn’t want that; he wants to follow Tatsuya in his orbit, keep chasing him or orbit him if need be, but Tatsuya’s beyond the horizon, vanished, unreachable, and Shuuzou can only hold out his hand so far, for so long.

Eight days and he gets a call. Two in the morning Tatsuya’s time, ten in the morning Shuuzou’s, when Tatsuya knows he has a free period he usually spends outside on the school lawn. They’re not technically allowed to use their phones, but no one cares enough to enforce it, and as Shuuzou picks up his from where it vibrates in his pocket, a few feet away a girl is playing candy crush and two of her friends are trying to find the best angle for a selfie.

“Hey,” says Shuuzou.

“I’m sorry,” says Tatsuya.

A quiet admission, a start.

“How have you been?” says Shuuzou (because with him there’s always a reason, a trigger).

Across the ocean, Tatsuya breathes, and then begins to speak.

based off the legend of qixi bc i can't help myself djksf

***

—there, in the bright lights over the field,
i found you:
in your eye a thousand moons have risen and set
across the silver river in the sky, your
dark hair framing its edges.
i found you.

you told me about the horizon that never ends,
how it seems so easy now here,
where you can look at the present as is.
there’s a whole world out there i will never know,
a whole world
(is you.)

you laugh and
i turn, and the sunlight on your lips are music,
weaving a story like the stars you threw
across the sky,
lovely. i take your hand,
our callouses from the loom and nature
are one.

and then the skies came crashing down and down and down and i could only watch you with my feet planted on this firm earth and my heart at the tip of my tongue and i could only watch

i look at night and see the river, though
roaring ever strong and deep,
is unable to mask the sigh in the stars.
as if saying you see,
our strides will never be quite wide enough
to cross heaven’s shores—

but,

i heard you sing to the magpies once, a lifetime ago, and now
this is all i ask: a prayer.
then a rustle of wings,
a rattle of bone.
i leap.

when i open my eyes,
i see starlight.

Atsushi meets the God of the Night Sky when the sun is just kissing the horizon goodnight, the sky rich with twilight. He's escaped onto the rooftop of the school building, seeking a place to nap in peace, only to find that he's not the only person here. There's someone else—so ethereally beautiful that Atsushi can't quite place how old he is, draped in a cloak of what appears to be starlight.

"Oh," he murmurs, turning around with a smile when he realises that he's not alone. "Atsushi."

"How do you know my name?" Atsushi asks, full of suspicion, holding his ground as the guy walks closer to him. He's heard of gods, heard the bad stories as often as he's heard the good. He knows a god when he sees one; there's no living mortal who could possibly be this beautiful. He can only see one of the god's eyes, but gazing into it feels like he's seeing entire galaxies bursting into life, beautiful and overwhelming all at once.

"Don't ask questions you already know the answers to," the god replies with a smile, his fingers brushing against Atsushi's cheek in a light caress. "That's boring."

"What's your name?" Atsushi asks instead, because at least he doesn't know the answer to that one.

"Tatsuya."

"Tatsu-chin."

It makes Tatsuya's lips curve into a smile. "If you like. Will you sit with me until I have to get to work, Atsushi?"

There's really only one answer, when a god asks you a yes or no question. Atsushi makes himself comfortable.

They see each other every evening after that. Sometimes, Atsushi climbs up onto the roof and waits, and other times, Tatsuya's there already, smiling at Atsushi as he approaches.

He's full of stories. There are all kinds of things that take place under the blanket of the night sky and Tatsuya sees them all, regaling Atsushi with tales that seem too strange to be true.

Then again, the fact that he's sitting here with a god feels a little too strange to be true, itself. It's worse when they make eye contact mid-sentence, their conversation trailing off just so that they can watch each other.

"Oh, Atsushi. You know I can't do this," Tatsuya murmurs, while leaning in to kiss him anyway.

Atsushi doesn't mind breaking the rules. He's glad that Tatsuya doesn't seem to have any problem with it either.
