Bonus Round 2: AUs
Bonus Round 2: AUs
SASO 2015 is over, but this round is perpetually open to new fills (no new prompts).
This round is made for exploration of all those "what-if?" scenarios, like "what if my favorite sports anime was actually a spaghetti western?" or "what if everything was the same except everyone was actually a car?"
This round ends at 7PM on June 27 EDT. Countdown Timer.
RULES
- Submit prompts by commenting to this post with an alternate universe idea, along with a ship from one of our nominated fandoms.
- An AU could be a canon divergence, e.g. "what if [team] didn't win the Inter High in season 1, but [other team] did instead?", or a completely different setting altogether, e.g.s pop idol AU, coffee shop AU, superheroes AU, etc.
- Fill prompts by leaving a responding comment to the prompt with your newly-created work.
- Remember to follow the general bonus round rules, outlined here.

A flower shop opens down the street from the bookshop that Teshima works in and the moment he sees the guy who owns it, he walks into the nearest pharmacy and grabs three packets of antihistamines because wow.
His name is Aoyagi, according to the tag on his apron—Hajime, he says with a small smile in his quiet, raspy voice. He might be blushing a little, or it could just be Teshima's incredibly hopeful imagination. It's probably his imagination.
"I'm Junta," he replies, reaching out to shake Aoyagi's hand. "I like your shop."
It's a beautiful little place, and a vast improvement on the disappointing sandwich shop that always made their sandwiches way too soggy. Teshima might have overdone it with the three packs of antihistamines, because even though the sign says that it's a florist, there are leafy plants all over the place, along with the standard flowers. There are plants hanging from the ceiling and growing vertically along a wall, and Teshima is utterly enchanted with the store just as much as he's enchanted with its owner.
"I just thought I'd come by and say hi," he says with a friendly smile. "I work in the bookshop down the street if you, uh, ever need a book recommendation."
Aoyagi smiles warmly, and it's like pure sunshine between parting clouds. "I'll keep that in mind. Thank you."
Teshima honestly doesn't know enough about plants to sustain a longer conversation, so he takes his leave. He walks into work and uses his staff discount to buy the thickest book about plants that they have in stock.
"Plants are, like, really complicated."
Aoyagi looks up from the flowers he's arranging with a small, curious smile. Teshima grins at him, hip cocked against the doorway of the shop. He probably looks really suave.
"Excuse me, dear," an old lady says behind him, patting him on the arm on her way past.
"I did some reading," he says, walking towards the counter where Aoyagi is standing, "about plants, because I was curious after looking at all the different kinds you've got in here."
"Really?" Aoyagi asks, looking thrilled. "I could tell you about them, if you'd like. But maybe you'd prefer your information to be a little more systematic, from a book—"
"I'd love for you to tell me about plants and stuff," Teshima says quickly. The first thing he did when he got home was flip through the book to see if he could look at the pictures and recognise anything from the shop. This makes his life a lot easier. "Actually, I was just on my way past to get some coffee and figured I'd drop by and see if you wanted me to get you anything."
"I'd love that," Aoyagi nods.
"Mocha?" Teshima asks, because he's got a strong gut feeling about this.
Aoyagi's eyes widen and he looks at Teshima like he's magic. "Yeah. Please."
"I'll pay for it," Teshima says, before Aoyagi can pull his wallet out. "As a welcoming present. Or as thanks for teaching me about plants. Or something."
"Okay," Aoyagi smiles. "I look forward to teaching you."
The café Teshima gets his coffee from is right next door to the bookshop, but maybe Aoyagi hasn't figured that out yet. He walks down the street with a spring in his step. He can't wait to learn about plants.
And maybe get a cute florist's number.
