Bonus Round 2: AUs
Bonus Round 2: AUs
SASO 2015 is over, but this round is perpetually open to new fills (no new prompts).
This round is made for exploration of all those "what-if?" scenarios, like "what if my favorite sports anime was actually a spaghetti western?" or "what if everything was the same except everyone was actually a car?"
This round ends at 7PM on June 27 EDT. Countdown Timer.
RULES
- Submit prompts by commenting to this post with an alternate universe idea, along with a ship from one of our nominated fandoms.
- An AU could be a canon divergence, e.g. "what if [team] didn't win the Inter High in season 1, but [other team] did instead?", or a completely different setting altogether, e.g.s pop idol AU, coffee shop AU, superheroes AU, etc.
- Fill prompts by leaving a responding comment to the prompt with your newly-created work.
- Remember to follow the general bonus round rules, outlined here.

hey fuck u
Q: When did you two first meet?
Kuroko Tetsuya meets Ogiwara Shigehiro at the public auditions for TEIKOU ENTERTAINMENT, Japan's leading producer of top idol groups and soloists. They have an entire conversation about Kuroko's natural hair color and they end up receiving consecutive ID numbers. They're grouped together for the bulk auditions and before they are carted off to the final round, Ogiwara manages to punch his number into Kuroko's phone—"though I'm sure we'll see each other around!"
In the end, they both make it. Ogiwara responds to Kuroko's much delayed greeting text message with a selfie of himself outside of the office where he signed his contract. Kuroko sends a ceremonious smiley.
The company dorms them together along with a handful of other boys that Kuroko is too reserved to approach. They share a bunk together and Kuroko wakes up every morning to the sound of Ogiwara slamming his head against the ceiling from the top bunk. They go to school together.
For the past three years, in an environment where nothing (his skills, his aptitude, his debut) is certain, Ogiwara Shigehiro is very much so the only thing Kuroko is sure of.
Q: Who are you closest to on the show aside from each other?
The CEO calls them, an un-categorized group of thirteen, to the big conference room on the top floor of the building on morning in lieu of the dance practices that Kuroko dreads the most. They sit at the long tables, filling up both sides of it in solemn silence. No one speaks except for Aomine, who complains, and Akashi, who quiets him firmly.
When the CEO arrives, he wastes no time in explaining the purpose behind the meeting. There will be camera crews coming in daily from now on; there will be cameras on them, each and every single one of them; there will be competitions, evaluations that determine more than just what to work on.
The CEO catapults them, an un-categorized group of thirteen, into what he calls a revolutionary survival show that'll spike the ratings.
In the end, they're given thick packets—things to do, things not to do—that they have to read in one night so they know how to act in front of the cameras the next morning. Kagami, known for his Too Powerful dance moves, takes a cinematic liking to Kuroko and Ogiwara sweats bullets while feigning kinship with Akashi. The fanboards like to pair them up together that way and Ogiwara bemoans it every night when he hops into the shower with Kuroko to steal the hot water before Kise has the chance to complain.
Q: What are your strong points?
Ogiwara thinks that Kuroko has a knack for variety. He's not particularly great at anything like dancing or singing but Kuroko is funny in a raw sort of way that can't be mimicked or replicated by anyone else. He's endearing, already popular in the polls despite how many times the choreographers and the vocal instructors joke about never noticing him in the room or in the booth. Ogiwara thinks it makes sense. He's always thought Kuroko was endearing after all.
Kuroko thinks that Ogiwara is a talented dancer, which is funny, because he's the furthest thing from graceful outside of the practice studio. He's goofy and graceless in an unassuming way that makes it easier to reach out to him, to let him reach back. But he's also the type who knows when to be serious, who knows when to do right and Kuroko thinks that the looks Ogiwara gets in his eyes when he's focusing on a new dance piece is one of the most breathtaking things he knows.
Q: What do you think about the word debut?
"Hey, Kuroko."
"Yes?"
"Did you know it's going to be four years this January?"
"Already."
"Already," Ogiwara repeats. He turns onto his side so he can face Kuroko. They're cramped in Kuroko's bed but Ogiwara likes proximity, likes being able to see the fluctuations in Kuroko's irises in an intimate way that Kuroko won't acknowledge. "Do you think we'll debut soon?"
"I'm not sure."
"I think you'll be fine."
"I'm sure you will be too, Ogiwara-kun."
There's a pause as Ogiwara shifts, flops onto his back so he's staring up at the low bottom of the top bunk.
"That'd be nice, huh, Kuroko?"
"What would be?"
"If we got to debut together."
"Yes," Kuroko says after a beat, "I'd like that."
Q: What do you think about this week's elimination?
They know who's going to be leaving the show in advance. The producer always goes on and on about how everything that goes on the television networks is scripted these days and supposedly candid survival shows are no exception. So they know, they all know—yet still, Kuroko sits in the private room where they film solo interviews and he wonders why his chest feels so dull.
The producer looks at him, blinking, and clears her throat, gesturing to the question card she's holding in her hands. He looks up and tips his head in apology.
"I don't agree with it," Kuroko says steadily.
He thinks about January and how it will be four years once the month slips by. He thinks about how there's only one week left until the line-up's finalized and he knows he's going to be the one debuting in Generation of Miracles. He thinks about a lot of things in that tiny room, even as the camera stares down at him.
Most of all, he thinks about Ogiwara's laughter, his voice, his clumsy footsteps outside of the practice studio and realizes he will miss those more than anything else in the world.
"I wish he could have stayed."
