Bonus Round 2: AUs

Bonus Round 2: AUs

SASO 2015 is over, but this round is perpetually open to new fills (no new prompts).

This round is made for exploration of all those "what-if?" scenarios, like "what if my favorite sports anime was actually a spaghetti western?" or "what if everything was the same except everyone was actually a car?"

This round ends at 7PM on June 27 EDT. Countdown Timer.

RULES
  • Submit prompts by commenting to this post with an alternate universe idea, along with a ship from one of our nominated fandoms.
  • An AU could be a canon divergence, e.g. "what if [team] didn't win the Inter High in season 1, but [other team] did instead?", or a completely different setting altogether, e.g.s pop idol AU, coffee shop AU, superheroes AU, etc.
  • Fill prompts by leaving a responding comment to the prompt with your newly-created work.
  • Remember to follow the general bonus round rules, outlined here.

SCORING
These numbers apply to your team as a whole, not each individual teammate. Make as many prompts/fills as you want!

For prompts: 5 points each (maximum of 50 prompt points per team per round)

For fills:

First 3 fills by any member of your team: 20 points each
Fills 4-10: 10 points each
Fills 11-20: 5 points each
Fills 21+: 2 points each

All scored content must be created new for this round.

Etc.
If you're hunting through the prompts looking for what to fill, a good trick is to view top-level comments only.

Have a question? Check The FAQ first. If you still need help, feel free to contact the mods. Happy fanworking!

no warnings, kind of just dumb fluff heh, 970 wc.

He hears what sounds like a One Direction song playing from right outside of his bedroom window and a strong sense of dread swallows him like a flood.

"God," Tsukishima says with feeling, contemplating putting his headphones on at maximum volume to spare himself from the embarrassment that he knows is waiting for him.

The neighbors will complain (again), he realizes; his mother will worry (again), he remembers. With much futility, Tsukishima forces himself to get up from his desk chair to address none other than Kuroo Tetsurou hefting a giant old-school boombox on his shoulders. There's something on the ground too, a bunch of red-painted rocks making the most crooked heart Tsukishima's ever seen right on his lawn.

"Tsukki!" Kuroo calls once he catches sight of him.

Tsukishima stares and does not make any moves to open his window.

He's at the top of his class for English and he has no issues understanding what this terrible song is trying to say (he doesn't understand what the song has to do with him in particular but that's another story for another day) but he figures there's no need to humor Kuroo when he already takes much more than Tsukishima is presently willing to give.

"Tsukki!" Kuroo yells again, this time, louder. "How is this?"

Tsukishima opens the window.

"Kuroo-san," he says plainly.

"What?!"

He narrows his eyes as Kuroo scrambles to decrease the volume of the music.

"Kuroo-san," he starts once more, "please stop bothering me."

-

Tsukishima Kei has suffered a great deal (though the word suffered is relative and maybe Tsukishima's exaggerating in his mind) as of late. Tokyo's a considerable distance from the Miyagi Prefecture, yet he's interacted with Kuroo a grand total of five times within the past two weeks alone.

First, Kuroo's suddenly frequent barrages of text messages to ask how Hinata of all people was doing that was beyond sudden and also outside of Tsukishima's topics of interest.. Kenma had apologized to Tsukishima out of nowhere and Tsukishima still isn't sure if he was apologizing about Kuroo or apologizing for something else entirely.

Second, Kuroo thought it wise to call Tsukishima at approximately midnight just to ask how's life going? He's a little ashamed looking back that he humored Kuroo with an entire minute and a half of conversation but he refuses to dwell on his moment of weakness.

Third, there was the terrible case where Tsukishima was dragged out of his lunch period to the very front office of the school to address a suspicious person who claims he's here to visit you. He sent Kuroo away despite his insistence that they eat lunch and talk together and that was how number three ended.

Fourth, the boombox.

Fourth and a half, the boombox. Again. Except this time not with an accidental German opera song.

And fifth.

"Kuroo-san," Tsukishima says with a distant sigh, feeling a headache build up slowly but surely. He isn't really sure why Kuroo's bothering him so fervently these days. He has a couple of theories—ranging from the ridiculous (maybe he has a crush on Hinata or something) to the reasonable (maybe he's just being overly friendly for some reason).

"Yeah?" Kuroo replies with a grin. "Wait, this is your favorite right? Strawberry shortcake? Akaashi said it would work."

Tsukishima stares at the white box in his hands and almost wavers.

"Are you bribing me right now?" Tsukishima asks flatly. "What do you want from me?"

They're in Tokyo now, the rest of Karasuno and Nekoma chatting indistinctly inside of Nekoma's gym following an actual, scheduled practice match to prepare Karasuno for nationals (nationals, that's never going to get old). Tsukishima stands outside of the gym idly as Kuroo looks at him, eager, expectant.

"What?" Kuroo says a beat later. "What do you mean what do I want from you?"

Tsukishima looks hardly impressed as he looks at Kuroo, plain and bored. "You've been a lot more annoying as of late and I'm not sure why I'm the target," he says succinctly. "What do you want?"

There's a very long pause that follows that consists of just Kuroo staring at Tsukishima like he's the eighth wonder of the world.

"Oh my god," Kuroo says to himself. "You're dense, Tsukki."

"Please don't call me that," Tsukishima says automatically.

"Tsukki," Kuroo says again despite Tsukishima's request, "I like you."

"Please don't c—excuse me?"

There's a wide smile on Kuroo's face and he looks like he's on the verge of laughing. "I've been trying to ask you out," he says as explanation.

"What?"

"Tsukki," Kuroo says for the third time. "Tsukishima Kei."

He feels a little confused (a lot confused) and a little uncomfortable now that he knows he's missing an important piece of information. Tsukishima blinks, mildly bewildered as he peers at Kuroo through the lenses of his glasses.

"Tsukishima, go out with me," Kuroo says finally. "I like you. I've been trying to confess to you."

Oh.

Oh.

Tsukishima stares at Kuroo and feels a thrum of embarrassment and maybe something else color his cheeks as he hurriedly rushes past Kuroo to reenter and find solace and shelter in the gym from situations he has absolutely no experience handling genuinely.

Kuroo trails after him, laughing all the same as he calls out, "Oh, megane-kun!"

"Don't call me that!" Tsukishima says briskly, one hand covering the bottom half of his face as he sits astutely between Ennoshita and Suga on the benches for protection.

"Kuroo-san, we have to go!" Inuoka calls out cheerfully.

Kuroo looks conflicted, glancing at Tsukishima and then his team before grinning and waving. "I'll call you tonight, Tsukishima!" he says brightly.

Suga and Ennoshita look at him quizzically and Tsukishima contemplates how he might melt into nothing.

Tsukishima does not pick up a single one of Kuroo's calls but he does text him ten minutes before he falls asleep with a:

the new jurassic movie is out.
maybe i'll go with you.
