Headcanons and AUs are welcome!
- Your prompt MUST include some kind of relationship. (This is not the sports anime gen olympics.) Platonic relationships are indicated by an "&" between the names (e.g., Rei & Nagisa). Non-platonic relationships use "/" (e.g., Rei/Nagisa). Please don't say "Any pairing," either!

Prompt: Team Iwaizumi Hajime/Oikawa Tooru

Remember when along the way, we found each other but all my friends said you never were there?
imaginary friends AU anyone? someone?Re: Prompt: Team Iwaizumi Hajime/Oikawa Tooru
why thisFILL: TEAM OIKAWA TOORU/SUGAWARA KOUSHI,G
Word Count: 509
The first time you greeted me was when I was behind one of the dugouts at the local baseball field. You ran around, sweating, looking for a stray ball, probably still practicing when you noticed me sitting with my knees tucked into my chest. You picked up another ball almost next to yours and casually threw it in my direction. No words were said, but you smiled at me like you were my friend.
The second time you saw me was when you were coming home from school, probably, because you were still in your uniform, eating a rapidly melting popsicle. Your glasses were askew but when you noticed me, you waved, calling out "Stop looking so serious all the time!" As if you really knew my thoughts. I smiled at you, you and your silly antics as you continued down the road singing some tune I didn't recognize.
The third time we met, I was the one who found you-looking down onto the field where some high schoolers were having a match with another school from the next town. I didn't know whether I could get closer, so I remained a few paces back. But you called out, "the view's better from here." And I moved to sit on the grass beside you. We talked for a while then, even noting how we played the same position for the sport we loved. You told me I had better game sense than you did. It was a good day.
The fourth time we ran into each other was outside the practice field and you were surrounded by much bigger seniors, your teammates, I assumed. I wanted to help but I didn't really know how. And I was scared so I hid behind one of the sheds as they stalked away, laughing loudly about know-it-all weaklings. I felt ashamed, even more so when you passed by the shed and said "I'm sorry you had to see that," with that annoying smirk you thought would hide the pain.
The fifth time we met, we really didn't talk. We both had had a horrible day. You lost someone and I simply lost. I guess sighing next to each other was the only comfort we could offer and we both took it like there was nothing else. And for some time after that, those quiet sighs were all we had.
The next time we saw each other, you found me again, sitting behind one of the local baseball field's dugouts.
"I told my dad, I needed to say goodbye to someone else today. You see I'm going far away. And I know you're always alone, so.. Just don't look too serious all the time." He told me.
"Sorry about that." I whispered back even when I see you get back to the field where your little league team was waiting. I could hear them teasing you about saying farewell to an old dugout and see you scratching your head in reply. "I hope they treat you better there."
i hope i was able to fill the prompt without being too cliche >_<

I'm so
I WILL BE BACK TO GIVE A PROPER LONGER COMMENT ABOUT THIS ONCE I'VE RECOLLECTED MY SOUL AND BROKEN HEART

Re: FILL: TEAM OIKAWA TOORU/SUGAWARA KOUSHI,G
First off, thank you so much for taking the time to come up with this beauty! It exceeded whatever I expected when I first dropped this prompt. The quiet observations, the quiet sharing, Miyuki's cheer and the loss of it, Chris praying that where ever Miyuki is going next will treat him better ughghrgh *grabs another tissue box*
Also, I love how it's interchangeable? Chris may seem to be the imaginary friend here but for all we know, it could actually be Miyuki.
The fifth time we met, we really didn't talk. We both had had a horrible day. You lost someone and I simply lost.
That line got to me the most because haven't we had days like those? Where we don't really comprehend what we've missed but the sense of loss still hangs.
Again, thank you so, so much!! ;;w;;
Re: FILL: TEAM OIKAWA TOORU/SUGAWARA KOUSHI,G
im glad it seemed interchangeable!! i was afraid i was being too obvious ^^ and yes yes that line is my favorite too. like you can always invent these background stories for your imaginary friend and it may come to a point where you're living in the world you painted yourself and i think thats what lead to that like this constant sense of loss that suddenly there's just something missing and you don't know what it particularly is, its just there
youre welcome and thank you so much too for your kind words <3
Re: FILL: TEAM OIKAWA TOORU/SUGAWARA KOUSHI,G
in any case, this is so good, thank you for writing it!
