Bonus Round 1: Memory

Bonus Round 1: Memory

Let's start our summer by looking at the past—things that happened in canon, or maybe in an AU, or maybe just as wishful thinking...

This round is CLOSED as of 7PM on June 9 EDT. Late fills may be posted, but they will not receive points.

Please read this whole post before commenting to ensure that your team gets the most points possible. (There are changes from last year!)

RULES
  • Submit prompts by commenting to this post! You prompt should consist of one scenario beginning with the phrase "Remember when", along with any ship/ot3/etc. from our list of nominated fandoms.
    • Your prompts can take the form of recalling canon facts/events ("Remember when Nozomi and Eli got parfaits after school?"), non-canon events ("Remember when Megumi and Jin met at the Tadokoro Family Reunion?"), or somewhere in-between ("Remember when Bokuto and Kenma first met?"). Headcanons and AUs are welcome!
    • Your prompt MUST include some kind of relationship. (This is not the sports anime gen olympics.) Platonic relationships are indicated by an "&" between the names (e.g., Rei & Nagisa). Non-platonic relationships use "/" (e.g., Rei/Nagisa). Please don't say "Any pairing," either!
  • Post fills by leaving a responding comment to a prompt with your newly-created work.
  • Remember to follow the general bonus round rules, outlined here.

  • FORMAT
Bonus round shenanigans all happen in the comments below. Brand-new works only, please.

    • Replace [YOUR SHIP] with the name of the team you belong to, including Grandstand or Sports Teams
    • Place the prompt's relationship in the first bolded line of the comment. Including the canon isn't required, but it's nice.

Posts not using this format will be understood to be unofficial discussion posts, regardless of what they contain. They, like all comments in this community, are subject to the code of conduct.

    SCORING
These numbers apply to your team as a whole, not each individual teammate. Make as many prompts/fills as you want!

For prompts: 5 points each (maximum of 50 prompt points per team per round)

    For fills:

First 3 fills by any member of your team: 20 points each
    Fills 4-10: 10 points each
    Fills 11-20: 5 points each
    Fills 21+: 2 points each

All scored content must be created new for this round.

    Etc.
If you're hunting through the prompts looking for what to fill, a good trick is to view top-level comments only.

It's a matter of timing. Of precision.

That's what Kenma tells Kageyama anyway, because that's the excuse he gives his teammates whenever they try and poke fun at him for his obsession.

Technically, he's telling the truth.

He doesn't really mention the story, or the characters, or anything like that. Just that there are songs, that you tap along to them, that it helps your concentration, coordination. Kageyama, forever eager for advice on how to improve himself as a setter, accepts Kenma's words like they're the word of god.

("Go easy on the kid," Kuroo tells Kenma, and the expression on his face would almost be pitying, if he wasn't so obviously trying to hold back his laughter.)

He doesn't really expect Kageyama to get into it as much as he does. It's almost as bad as Kenma himself, and that's not something that anyone would say lightly. Kenma, when interested in something, approaches it with a single-minded intensity. He should have known that the same would happen to Kageyama, after knowing what he's like with volleyball.

Kageyama gets Kenma's number from Hinata, and they don't quite make friends, but they certainly text each other a lot.

Kageyama doesn't understand how to get to the expert songs. Kenma explains the B-Sides.

Kageyama doesn't like token events. Kenma doesn't either.

Kageyama sends screenshots of every single rare and above that he manages to idolise. Kenma usually ignores them, sometimes congratulating him if they're his particular favourites.

Kageyama vows to beat Kenma at an event someday. Kenma actually laughs at his phone when he reads that message.

Kageyama doesn't understand the concept of a best girl. Kenma explains that it's just a matter of which one is his favourite. Kageyama doesn't really understand that, either.

A week later, however, Kageyama messages him about it again, and says, I think I might have a best girl.

Kenma can't deny the fact that he's curious.

Kageyama goes on to explain that Honoka might be his favourite. It surprises Kenma, who was expecting someone quieter, like Umi, perhaps.

It's definitely Honoka, though. Kageyama rhapsodises about how much he appreciates her drive, her optimism, her enthusiasm. She's good at pulling people along, she's good at making situations work out for her.

Like Hinata, Kenma texts back, and things suddenly make a lot of sense.

Don't you dare, Kageyama replies.

Then, two days later, Kageyama sends him two messages in quick succession.

Like Hinata.

Help.
