Bonus Round 1: Memory

Let's start our summer by looking at the past—things that happened in canon, or maybe in an AU, or maybe just as wishful thinking...


This round is CLOSED as of 7PM on June 9 EDT. Late fills may be posted, but they will not receive points.

Please read this whole post before commenting to ensure that your team gets the most points possible. (There are changes from last year!)

RULES

• Submit prompts by commenting to this post! You prompt should consist of one scenario beginning with the phrase "Remember when", along with any ship/ot3/etc. from our list of nominated fandoms.
  • Your prompts can take the form of recalling canon facts/events ("Remember when Nozomi and Eli got parfaits after school?"), non-canon events ("Remember when Megumi and Jin met at the Tadokoro Family Reunion?"), or somewhere in-between ("Remember when Bokuto and Kenma first met?"). Headcanons and AUs are welcome!
  • Your prompt MUST include some kind of relationship. (This is not the sports anime gen olympics.) Platonic relationships are indicated by an "&" between the names (e.g., Rei & Nagisa). Non-platonic relationships use "/" (e.g., Rei/Nagisa). Please don't say "Any pairing," either!
• Post fills by leaving a responding comment to a prompt with your newly-created work.
• Remember to follow the general bonus round rules, outlined here.

SCORING
These numbers apply to your team as a whole, not each individual teammate. Make as many prompts/fills as you want!



For prompts: 5 points each (maximum of 50 prompt points per team per round)


For fills:


First 3 fills by any member of your team: 20 points each
Fills 4-10: 10 points each
Fills 11-20: 5 points each
Fills 21+: 2 points each

All scored content must be created new for this round.

FILL: TEAM IMAIZUMI SHUNSUKE/NARUKO SHOUKICHI, T

Naruko/Imaizumi, T, references to violence, 433 words

Naruko catches up to Imaizumi at Valley of the End. He's never stepped foot in the Land of Sound before, but he doesn't want to entertain the idea of Imaizumi going there either. "HOT SHOT!" Naruko screams at the top of his lungs as he leans over scratched knees.

As expected, Imaizumi halts in his step but does not turn around. He's heading for the waterfall that divides the Land of Sound and the Land of Fire, and Naruko knows Imaizumi won't come back if he lets him go.

"You shouldn't have come," Imaizumi says, his voice cold and clinical like he's pretending to be strong.

Naruko thinks about everyone who has helped on this mission. Onoda blames himself for letting Imaizumi leave and Naruko doesn't even know if Ayoyagi and Teshima are still alive. "Don't be stupid, Hotshot! I know those sound-nins messed with your mind! Come back with me and we'll forgive you for being stupid!"

"You don't get it!" Imaizumi snaps. "I'm not like you or Onoda. I can't- I have to become stronger to defeat Midousuji. Staying in Konoha isn't enough!"

"Why!?" Naruko screams. He wants to ask, why aren't we enough?

When Imaizumi turns around, his face is livid and almost unrecognizable. The cursed seal has broken all of his skin, leaving dark marks across Imaizumi's normally pale cheeks. "You don't understand, Naruko. You don't know what it's like to constantly live in someone's shadow, to not be good enough."

"Fuck that!" There are tears burning in the back of Naruko's eyes now. He thinks about the years he spent alone, gazing towards the Mt. Hokage while he failed and failed at everything. "I know that more than anyone! Stop being so goddamn selfish!"

Imaizumi moves forward to grab Naruko's collar. "You-"

"Yeah, I don't understand everything!" Naruko cuts in. "But we're a team now-- you, me, and Onoda! I want all of our dreams to come true!"

"My dream is to be stro-" Imaizumi forces himself to stop and loses his grasp, making Naruko stumble backwards. "Go home, Naruko."

"Come home with me!" Naruko insists, swallowing his own pride. "Come home to Onoda and Kanzaki and everyone!"

"Konoha is no longer my home," Imaizumi says quietly as the rain overhead flattens his bangs to his face.

Naruko takes a deep breath. "You're not leaving! Not over my dead body!"

The silence that follows is unbearable, and Naruko is wildly aware of the rain falling around them, coating everything in a layer of mist. Eventually, Imaizumi reaches up to remove his Hitai-ate.

"Okay," Imaizumi says. "Let's fight."
