Bonus Round 3: Gift Tags

Bonus Round 3: Gift Tags

Feeling generous? In this round, you get to give creative gifts as prompts.

This round is CLOSED as of 7PM on July 7 EDT. Late fills may be posted, but they will not receive points.

RULES
  • Submit prompts as a gift tag in the format below. You can specify the size and a characteristic of the gift, who the sender is, who the recipient is, and a one or two sentence note from the sender to the recipient. Descriptions of the package and the included note don’t have to be explicit, see below.
    • Package: medium sized cube, rattles
      From: Kageyama Tobio
      To: Hinata Shouyou
Note: These will help you get better.
    • Envelope: manila, 12''x17'', very thick and heavy
      From: Tezuka Kunimitsu
      To: Kinjou Shingo
Note: Enclosed - Play without regrets!
  • Your prompt MUST include a relationship. Platonic relationships are indicated by an "&" between the names (e.g., Riko & Momoi). Non-platonic relationships use "/" (e.g., Riko/Momoi). Please don't say "Any pairing," either.
  • Fill prompts by leaving a responding comment to the prompt with your newly-created work. Fillers can get creative with how to interpret the prompt: your fill can be about the character receiving the gift, one or both characters using the gift, what prompted the sender to send the gift—the physical gift itself can even be excluded from your fill. What’s important is that the gift tag is clearly the inspiration for your fill.
  • Remember to follow the general bonus round rules, outlined here.

Bonus round shenanigans all happen in the comments below. Brand-new works only, please.

Required Work Minimums:

Posts not using this format will be understood to be unofficial discussion posts, regardless of what they contain. They, like all comments in this community, are subject to the code of conduct.

SCORING
These numbers apply to your team as a whole, not each individual teammate. Make as many prompts/fills as you want!

For prompts: 5 points each (maximum of 50 prompt points per team per round)

For fills:

First 3 fills by any member of your team: 20 points each
Fills 4-10: 10 points each
Fills 11-20: 5 points each
Fills 21+: 2 points each

All scored content must be created new for this round.

Etc.
If you're hunting through the prompts looking for what to fill, a good trick is to view top-level comments only.

Based on the Cousins AU I brainstormed two years ago, but following on these four SASO specific fics
-------------------------------

Satoru frowns at his phone. He was almost sure this was the place they were supposed to meet, outside the Sesshu Gardens right? But it had been ten minutes and there was no sign of anybody, even Tobio who was always early on principle. He’s toying with the idea of calling Haruka to come find him, when something hits him from behind. He turns suddenly, ready to fend of the attacker, but he’s caught still as an arm wraps around his shoulders.

“Ohh, I thought I saw a familiar face.” the stranger leered. “What are you doing all the way in Tottori, of all places? On a trip or something? You shoulda let me know!”

The guy obviously recognises him, but Satoru is pretty sure he’d remember a guy like this. A redhead with bags under his eyes and a bigger disregard for personal space than Takeru. Satoru wasn’t exactly sure how to answer the stranger’s initial question past a confused, stunned stare, but the redhead suddenly lets out an exclamation and elbows him in the ribs.

“Oi! I just remembered! You still owe me that Bepsi! The last one didn’t count,” the redhead near shouted as Satoru tried to recover from the jab, and he’s unceremoniously dragged to the nearest vending machine, the redhead talking all the while. He doesn’t pay attention to what the other is saying though, but he picks out words like ‘Hakone’ and ‘Fukutomi’ and it only furthers his confusion because nothing the guy is saying sounds familiar at all.

Though he thinks it's bizarre and unfair that he should be spending his money on a stranger, maybe if he bought the guy something he’d go away. Or at least distract him enough to call the police. So he shakes him off enough to at least reach for his wallet, counting out exactly ¥120.

Satoru can't really remember the last time he bought Bepsi. It's too sweet, too fizzy for his taste. Yet here he is, buying a bottle for a perfect stranger.

“...Here,” he says, offering the bottle over, and the guy finally takes a step back to grab it and crack it open. Satoru’s primed to run then, but the redhead pauses before taking a sip and eyes him critically.
“Hey, what’s wrong? You’ve usually got more fire in you than this, Arakita. You didn’t shake it or anything. You sick?”

Ah. He should have known a creepy guy like this was Yasutomo’s friend.

Satoru’s about to correct the other when he’s cut short again, someone calling out his name from the entrance. The redhead turns around in response to the sound.

And pauses.

Haruka doesn’t give the stranger a second glance as he walks past him, ignoring the way the redhead’s mouth just dropped.

“Satoru. You went to the wrong entrance,” Haruka says blandly, grabbing onto his hand. “Come on, Tobio wants to eat already.”

“Ah… Sure,” he responds, which is when the redhead drops his bottle and grabs his other hand.

“Hang on a second,” says the stranger. “Who the hell are you!?

“Who are you?” Haruka asks, as if noticing him for the first time. His eyes narrow at the hand clasped around his cousin’s wrist. “What do you want with him?”

And because Satoru knows full well how angry Haruka gets when he’s really upset, he attempts to diffuse the situation.

“Haruka, he thought I was Yasutomo. I think. He just made me buy him Bepsi,” he offers by way of explanation, as Haruka turns his attention from the readhead to the leaking bottle on the ground.

“Yasu-...? Arakita?” the redhead asks dumbly, gesturing between the two black haired boys. “You guys related or something? You look exactly the same!”

Haruka doesn’t respond and simply shrugs, grabbing at Satoru again, and pulling him back towards the entrance. Much to his annoyance, the redhead follows, staring at the two of them with a mix of disbelief and incredulity until they reach the rest of the group.

The other cousins look up at their approach, and one of them lets out an especially loud groan as the redhead rubs his eyes, muttering “I definitely had a dream like this once” before zeroing in on Yasutomo.

“Arakita, what the hell?! You didn’t tell me you have doppelgangers running around!” he all but yells, fisting Yasutomo’s shirt in his hands. Haruka takes a threatening step forward, but Yasutomo waves him down, seemingly unphased by the guy practically yelling in his face.

“Why the hell would I tell you? Annoying bastard,” he mutters as the redhead squawks indignantly. “Oi, Satoru. Did this guy try to heckle you or somethin’?”

“It’s fine. But you owe me ¥120,” Satoru replies. And after a beat of silence, asks, “Do all your friends normally touch you so casually, Yasutomo?”

The redhead pales as Yasutomo’s face screws up. Narrowly dodging the other’s fist, the guy flees.

“Takeru! Catch him!” Haruka commands, and because he’d never deny an opportunity to run, Takeru takes off like a shot, vaulting over the bicycle barriers after Satoru’s ‘assailant.’

Satoru decides not to say anything, thinking it too much trouble to correct his cousins.
