Bonus Round 7: Recs

Bonus Round 7: Recs

You've created so much during this event, so here's a round to celebrate each other's achievements!

This round is CLOSED as of 7PM on August 24 EDT. Late fills may be posted, but they will not receive points.

RULES
  • Recommend at least three fanworks from main or bonus rounds. Your recommendations don’t have to be connected in any way, and you do not need permission to recommend a work.
  • Don't rec your own work. You can recommend things created by your own team, but please spread the love to other teams too.
  • Each recommendation must include at least two sentences explaining why that fanwork is awesome. Please use the format specified below.
  • You may recommend as many works as you like, as long as they are posted separately in groups of at least three.
  • There will be no prompts for this round. Simply post each fill/recommendation list as a comment in response to this post.
  • Remember to follow the general bonus round rules, outlined here.

FORMAT
Bonus round shenanigans all happen in the comments below. Brand-new works only, please.

Format your comment in the following way:

If FILLING (all teams):
FILL: TEAM [YOUR SHIP]
  • Replace [YOUR SHIP] with the name of the team you belong to
  • Copy and paste the following form into a comment and fill it out. Delete things in brackets, and leave the HTML alone.

Posts not using this format will be understood to be unofficial discussion posts, regardless of what they contain. They, like all comments in this community, are subject to the code of conduct.

SCORING
These numbers apply to your team as a whole, not each individual teammate. Make as many fills as you want!

For fills:

First 3 fills by any member of your team: 20 points each
Fills 4-10: 10 points each
Fills 11-20: 5 points each
Fills 21+: 2 points each

All scored content must be created new for this round.

Etc.
If you're hunting through the prompts looking for what to fill, a good trick is to view top-level comments only.

Have a question? Check The FAQ first. If you still need help, feel free to contact the mods. Happy fanworking!

Theme: Oikage Fic Fills, Volume 19 (Fluff Edition)

Title: Saying Your Names

Why is this work awesome?: What I like best about this fic is the fragile, fledgling softness of it. This is a future point where Oikawa and Kageyama are able to be kind to each other, where they still have some baggage but are going to a match together as spectators and are figuring out how to be friends, maybe more than friends. I love that the mood is at once gentle and filled with promise, the moment between them a turning point of going from their usual names for each other, to using first names alone.

Title: Kageyama Is NOT Oikawa's Favorite Puzzle

Why is this work awesome?: The Oikawa in this fic is almost an unreliable narrator, but he's so transparent in his denial of needing Kageyama, of maybe even loving Kageyama, that it functionally loops back around to sincere. The details of how Oikawa thinks about Kageyama are nice but my favorite detail is definitely the idea of Kageyama being the needy one who pulls Oikawa into kisses, not because he's really needier, but because he's matured enough to understand that this is something he can do for Oikawa. Their relationship here feels at once breathless and fragile and good, in a way I don't really expect with oikage but did quite enjoy.

Title: Oikage Meaningful Touches

Why is this work awesome?: This fic is deceptively soft in a way I find So Fascinating. I love casual touches between couples and the intimacy of being tactile with your partner, and Kii delivers on that premise beautifully. But then there are little details, Oikawa telling Kageyama that "he's allowed" to do it, Oikawa's observation that Kageyama seems "afraid that he'll do something wrong and be scolded for it," evoke their history in a way that's subtly unsettling. This may be a future point where they're dating and learning to be comfortable with each other but their past cannot be entirely erased, and this knowledge creates an underlying tension beneath the gentle action the fic focuses on.
